- Huge progress on the car today! Turbo Hot side is done, and the turbo is in it's forever home...lol I took all my welding stuff down to Austins shop @DRAGWIRESOLUTIONS to continue working on the Turbo Mustang. The car is getting really close, and hopefully will have heat in the pipes soon. Did you know Austin also builds fuel and nitrous lines using Brown and Miller stuff? Go check out his youtube channel and hit him up on Facebook to see if he can help your racing program.

I like the charger pipe being super short you know what your doing John you're not fooling me!👌🏻
Remember not to let the fuel tank breather exhaust anywhere near the waste gates John ✌️👍
I love that you're not afraid to do things out of your wheelhouse. It just makes the car more personal to you. At least i think so. Love the channel, beautiful hot rod John. Can't wait to see it in action. Best of luck. Take Care!!!
I have a 427ci SBC procharged in a 92s10 with 4l80 transmission with Trans brake and a strange 9" fab pro rear-end.
Looking good big dog 🐕 can’t wait to get this one to the track!
Should be fun!
Just V-Band it to the Intake & Weld up the Hot Side. Scoop the Air to the Turbo Impellar if NEED be
*Seems like aerodynamics with hood would be better less resistance could mean winning by a bumper?* any advantage no matter how small counts
True
It depends on the type of racing. For radial racing or fast front side no prep your point is valid. However on back side no prep (like John likes to do) traction is EVERYTHING and every pound you can get off the nose improves weight bias and weight transfer. Building the car to have the option to run it with or without the hood and front clip would be optimal.
👀
That'd be cool to see longer videos 🎉🎉🎉 I cannot wait to see this car in action🎉🎉🎉
You doing a good job

TJ, building and fab work are OK but we need to see you making passes! No prep. PS don't get all caught up in the hood fitment, it's just gonna end up being dumpster food. Carry on sir.
You build it how you want it... it's definitely going to be nicer than alot of rides guys are trying compete with.. just pray that you take the time to get everything done right and safely and then go test it so you are safe and not throwing those hard earned dollars in the air.. I have always loved the 4 headlight mustangs even before people liked the foxbody. My first car was a 83 gt with ttops and a mild built 302 and 5 speed, 2nd was a gray 86 gt hatchback that I bought from a guy who had done some work to it and it would run.. I then bought a metallic dark blue 91 gt hatchback with a 5 speed.. I lost my license and sold it to a friend's little brother who wrapped it around a tree 2 weeks after he got it.. my 86 was my favorite car and my buddies 94 cobra with a Paxton supercharger..
You doing a good job put two exhaust pipes on it
I think they should change their name to Drag Solutions... he does more than just wiring...
John, please tell me that you are painting it a different color than the last ones???!!!! A gray would be cool
I love all these RUclipsrs start out with some budget stuff then once they start selling merch and getting a lil more money they start buying the better parts. Pretty funny.
I run bellows on my hotside piping. It makes installation easier and it hasn't cracked yet either
Take the extra time to do it right, you have a nice race car don't f if up. I'm super proud of you and the progress you've made 👏 keep up the good work.
The welds are getting better. That’s a 5 footer weld one more kit build you should be a 3 foot welder.
Looking good John!
Thanks
I personally think this car and bigblock is going to be a program changer for you and instead of going to the finals at dig or die i see you winning a whole lot coming soon
That turbo is so freaking big! LFGoooooooo!! 💪💪
Are you adding a turbo mount ? To take some of the weight off the pipe work ?
Looking like a beast 💪
That's a bad dude sir!!! Have a name for it .... animal lol
Awesome john, do you purge to weld the stainless or is ok not to?
CAN'T WAIT FOR NEW TSHIRTS WITH THIS NOTCH ON IT!!LIKE THE ORIGINAL ONE THAT STARTED IT ALL❤🤘😊💥👌🤑💥
Those bellows are not good. Use a double slip joint.
Great video TJ!
Can't wait to hear it fire up!
I Have been watching your channel for over two years now. Your on car number 4, and I have truly enjoyed the journey. Keep up the good work. I met you at the Virginia npk race, your a real stand up guy. Keep working hard!
Thanks man
Thanks for sharing this video with us
❤ IT 👍😎 I'M DIGGING IT TO, MOVING RIGHT ALONG. AND GOD BLESS ALL 🙏
Looking good and can't wait for start up
Don't cut the hood, please !!!!!!
What is the stock block record?
Looking, really nice!
What welder are u using?
Looking
Good you need to call up Jimmy Dale and get you some of
That Nitrous Xpress to make that big turbo spool up
I'm hoping I don't need the nitrous. But will if needed for sure
The ci of the engine should spool up the turbo way faster than an LS or a small block like John’s old engine.
Do a double slip tube.
Nice 👍🏻 Looking good
😎👍💯👋
Your car is looking sweet TJohn! That 69 Camaro is nice also;💪💪
Man it’s cool to see you work on your own car. I can relate, as I work on my own car too. I’m no professional car builder but have built 3 drag cars and they all looked badass and performed the same. I’m ready to see this big block rip, gone be badass
Instead of a bellow you should put in a double slip joint. They won't fail and will allow for some flexability.
Looks sweet and clean AF!!!! Nice work Sir. God Speed!
It is amazing what people do with turbo placement now, find a space and there it goes, no one never use to pie cut pipes, now anything goes, but cars now are works of art the technology is amazing compared to just a couple turbos and couple wastegates and that was it.
Dedicated! Nothing keeps this guy down
Looking good I'd leave it John promod John 😮
It’s PAST Time to Replace that 4”Exhaust.Multiple Mustangs, to the Saturn, Now the NEW Car.?.?.?.?
It is 5", think this is car 4......LOL...... I'm keeping it for sure!
Steer the wheel to left for turbo clearance
You should rethink how close you have that turbo to your fuel pump because that's going to cause alot of heat on your fuel ,half inch is 😮
Other than thst it looks killer and can't wait to see it making passes 😊😊
thats the coldside of the turbo near the fuel pump plus methanol is extremely cold fuel and a lot of volume moves through that pump which will keep it cool on those 4sec 8th mile runs
You could actually "cheat" the angle and cut about ¼"off the top of your up-pipe but it might get kinda hairy cramming an oval hole into your billet merge. I'm like you, I really needed to cut some pie cuts out of my up-pipes to get my turbo exactly where I wanted it but there's something to be said about having part of your turbo kit done when you're not really confident in your fabbing skills (referring to mine, not yours)!!
You should use one of those triple sleeve deals, they say that they'll last as long as the rest of the kit, I just can't remember the exact name of them at the moment!lol
The double slip joint.... I have not used one, but a buddy had one on his car a while back and after a few outtings, it seemed it just stuck. lol We could not move it again.
cars gonna be sick! How come you didnt cut the holes for the waste gates before welding them on?
Its easier to weld with no hole, the pipe takes the heat better. If I'm migging it, it doesn't matter. but I suck at tig so it's harder with two edges to weld for me.
SNOUT
Are just the pipes supporting the weight of the turbo, or do you have a mount?
I'm gonna build a support off the frame rail
@@TurboJohnRacing good! Maybe two heat cycles and the turbo would be hanging from the hoses lol.
Cable Drive fuel
If I ever put the fuel cell in the back that's what we would do. But I like the front mount cells
Can not inter cool with turbo turned like you have it. I would turn it so I could run a inter cooler to make more power I would also run a procharger because they are more power manageable and useful power then turbos.
Why would he run an intercooler when it uses methanol ? Intercooler will be a restriction and not do anything the methanol won’t already do to cool intake charge .
Its scary how close the turbo is to that fuel line. I mean one little bump on the front end and boom. I personally wouldn't do it, but what do I know ? I'm just some asshole with a keyboard.
John do you have any concern about intake charge temperatures with no intercooler? Are you running methanol injection to bring your temps down?
No, we inject enough methanol at the injector it cools it off. We have never ran additional injectors in the charge pipe but may at some point.
FYI - Your turbo piping and most other I see use "long radius" 90 degree weld elbows. "Short radius" 90 degree elbows are available that provide greater flexibility for turbo placement. It is just a thought.
LOL yes, I need an ARB installed on my fox body.
JON YOU NEED TO SUPPORT THE TURBO 🤔👍✅
Going to build a support off the frame to support it
What was the thought for putting the turbo up so high? I'm still in the "as low as possible" camp
I wanted it as close to the engine as possible because it's heavy. And if we can move the instant center higher it should help weight transfer. And my biggest issue is I cannot stand scavenge pumps, lol
I figured I would hear "instant center", lol. Thanks TJ!
