  • There has been a recent string of murder-suicides in the news since the new year. Domestic violence has been dubbed the "Shadow Pandemic" and is giving way to large numbers of calls to police. Many of the women who were murdered had a history of telling friends they felt unsafe, filing protective orders, and were making futile attempts to stay separated from their male partner.
This is a troubling trend that we need to be aware of and known how to respond because chances are good that you know someone who is victim to a violent partner. In this episode we offer ways that we can be involved. We cannot wait to make a police report after the fact. When we know there is violence, we should begin advocating for victims.

yes !clara u made my day i feel the same way about marijuana , as a child survivor of dv i found that mostly certian denominations teach men they are dominate over women and they teach that men have the right to control women i seen it w my my own eyes thru a baptist church , the sad part about dv is that when a women press charges they are forced to pay the bail for the husband both of my sisters have been victims of dv and they both paid their husbands bail , the law is public record that actually states what dv law is,but no women will look it up to protect themselves ,so women who survived like me have to help those who cant help themselves ..

No., These guys are talking to other women and using p*** . When they are stuck in the house With their So's they're entitled Behavior comes to a head. Or the woman finds out about his cheating or realizes his pornography uses a serious problem. I think the other societal issues are less of a problem.

At 11 minutes in, I await to hear how complementarian doctrine massively fuels this epidemic. Because it is a huge contributor to this violence. There is always a good chance that an “adorable”Christian family with such a “godly” father…. Has that same father emotionally, physically, and spiritually abusing the wife and-or children. And has been led to believe he has scriptural basis for the behavior.

Very good point. That may have to be an entire episode. This definitely fuels entitlement and violence against women and children.

Don't we see many doctrines used by unregenerate people to oppress and abuse? It's not so much the doctrine but the heart of person who purposely distorts it.

I didn’t mean to hit the dislike button. But Sarah your comment is spot on! I knew there was something missing in this episode. Way too much headship theology. I don’t believe in it anyway. But we need to discuss this thoroughly. Im so grateful for Sheila Gregoire.
