For the Milsbo clips- I got some from Amazon that are metal and work really well. They're listed as "metal photo clips, curtain clips, etc". Really cheap and pretty strong. I sent you this info on Instagram too, I hope you see it and it's helpful. I had a hard time finding something to use to hang my plants on the grid and I was so happy when I found those.
for the string of turtles mine thrive under a grow light, they’re sensitive to being underwatered so i water when the top inch dries out, and they love a shallow pot like others said. you can also stick some in your terrarium!
I use a soldering tool to make holes into back of pots then use hooks to attach to wire grid. There's also time clip/hook combos that come with some wire panel kits
My string of turtles is in my milsbo about 6” under my mother grow light. It’s exploding with new growth! It’s been filling out on its own! Also, I water it whenever it’s dry. It seems to enjoy the added moisture!
for the string of turtels i find that having the soil topped with moss really helps since they seem to really enjoy growing on the moss. mine gets quite a lot of sun and dosent seem to enjoy drying out to much i also grow some in terrariums but that tends to chnage their growth size of the leafs to smaller i also find that the longer strings are really sensitive to sharp pot edges when they are hanging down. hope some of these tips are somewhat helpful
I bought a string of turtles yesterday that looked really good, and then when I got home and checked closer I found a similar situation to yours! There were also blooms which is why I thought it was a healthy plant but the momma was BALD lol... I propagated all the separate strings tho, some in soil and some in sphag, so if that will root I'll basically have 2 plants for the price of one
Just lay all your string and single turtle leaves on perlite they’ll all root super fast. Even on soil they root super fast. Each leaf will start a string
Moss poles answer- too many to water everyday to every 3 days . I was in the hospital for a week and came home to extremely hydrophobic moss in my poles. So I ran around like a crazy person trying to get everything right and bounced back in the hospital today ( I have relapsing Guillain- Barre ). Thank you for your videos to entertain me.
Turtle advice- I'd remove the flowers and then gently wrap the hanging strands around inside pot and pin down. Give high humidity and they should start to root. Occasionally water and ignore 🤞🤞
Gods I needed this. My heart rat, Finn, was diagnosed with cancer today and despite this being expected, as he's over 2 years old, it still sucks so bad that I don't have much time left with him. Your videos are the perfect, relaxing pick-me-up that I needed
For string of turtles i just circle my strands around the top of the pot and they root in. i have gotten a much fuller pot this way. A round shape pot might make it easier.
It's so weird when people have difficulties with different plants. Like your asparagus fern is popping off and mine is practically dead but my scindapsus (silver hero, silvery Anne, exotica,etc...) give me no problems like growing a epipremnum aurea. Crazy bc you could tell me what you're doing with your fern and I could tell you exactly what I'm doing with my scindapsus and it would probably not change our problems. Good luck with your scindapsus, well all of your plants.
Good morning wildfern. Excellent video. Glad to see you're doing well. Thanks so much for sharing a look at your methods for removing plants from a propagation box. I definitely following your gardening recommendations for all four growing seasons. 🌹🌹🌼🌼 😉😉
I brought my SoT back from the brink by chopping it totally back, rooting the cuttings in moss and putting it in the cabinet. It just lives in moss now in a pot without drainage and it’s thriving
Thanks for the prop box repot video Fern. Those snap together moss poles are really cool. Makes for an easy job of it. Ill be getting some of those. I just have one moss pole that I have a hoya carnosa cluster in training on. It's one of those handmade diy net poles that I had a ridiculous time getting to hold together and stay upright. I had to end up driving a driveway marker steak down the middle of it to keep it upright. But it did the trick and now seems quite solid. 🤣
5:15 think mamei is on the right! i have one myself and the leaf shape (it's not really a teardrop), the ruffles being more pronounced, and the silver coloration all match up to mine!
With any type of ‘string of’ I tend to hang the string over the soil and use a Bobby Pin to hold in place. Once it is rooted I cut the vine so it creates two vine. Helps ensure it roots and settles in properly before you cut it off ☺️
Got to do so many plant chores and this is motivating me to take some time for them. Also I have only 3 moss poles (even though I have like 100 plants) and that’s mostly because I have super baby plants and I try not to moss pole since I know I’m bad about keeping up with it
Fern I have 3 med bins to go through but I’m holding out until the middle of May as I just went through them 2 weeks ago. I took a bunch of cuttings from my vining plants. I want to make a couple of window planters mixed with different plants and mound them on my wall some how or hang off the side of my cabinets
I propagated my string of turtles (and hearts) in soil on a terracotta saucer with a cover of some sort and it worked really well. Once it was rooted I transferred it to a slightly deeper pot. More wide and shallow than deep but deeper than a saucer!
Very satisfying video. You look so comfortable repotting and handling your propagations. Love these kind of videos. Just curious. Why don’t you propagate with perlite anymore. I don’t have luck with sphagnum.
Never enough micans! So I have a bin of cuttings but besides that I only have a smaller bin with a few desert roses someone begged me to take at the last p.swap 😂
Girl!! I had the SAME experience with my string of turtles! It had new growth all over seemed so happy, but then the leaves on top got pale & as I started to clean up the top it all fell apart! like only a 1/4 of the plant was rooted. I thought it was going so well. I’m trying to start it over in a cabinet myself so… ✊🏻🤷🏼♀️🙃💗
I like my cebu blue. Trying to grow it up a mosspole so it can get fenestrations. You got me xounting, I have 22 mosspoles and still need to make 2 more
I had a Green Dragon Scale alocasia that just seemingly decided to kick the bucket out of nowhere, and thank goodness it had some corms left. I have had them just propping away and planted up mine into soil today! It’s the first time I’ve grown corms and it was exciting putting a three leafed little baby into her new pot, especially after being scared I’d lost the plant for good. I also had black velvet corms potted up and just plopped my green velvet (not trying to attempt michiz scientific name :,) ) and a regular dragon scale alo corm into perlite a few days back. It’s the wrong time of year (autumn) but I can’t help myself and I hope my plants don’t slow down too much!
I think I have 11 moss poles, which is more than I would have guessed before I counted! Planning on putting them outside for the summer, so we will see how that goes. 🤞🏻
I love this video! Just vibe and chill. I got into house plants at the end of last year and I finally found a cebu blue, i love it! There was a piece that wasn’t fully connected to the whole plant so i repotted it with a moss pole! I currently have two moss pole but definitely more to come!😁 Have a beautiful day!
Girl, I struggled with mine, and thought they were dead, so I just took ‘general’ care of them, and almost forgot about them, and they started growing and doing well. I don’t know how that happened, but yes, shallow pot for sure (I made mine from polymer clay) and it’s been doing fine in a shaded south window. I only water when totally dry, and ‘pretend it doesn’t exist.’ That’s been the best method for me 😂
I love Cebu Blues❤❤❤ however I've not had good luck keeping them alive. I've got some cuttings left from my last plant (I've killed 3 so far), and l hope to get them going again. I think l know what I did.
I picked up a beautiful Baltic Blue Pothos today. It's young and only 2 leaves have a fenestration. I can't wait till it starts growing and gives me more fenestrations. ❤ How is Olive doing? I think of her often. My Chihuahuas both have cancer and unfortunately won't be with me much longer. I will be lost without them. Your Olive is so cute and so sweet. Much love to both of you. Hope you are doing well also. ❤
Will ikea deliver to Shane’s place? Or do they just not deliver to the island? For the string of turtles, I have mine in a 2.5” shallow pot which I think it helping (mine is small in size still) but having said that, I’ve seen others keep theirs in the nursery pot so I think other conditions can sway which works better for yours. I’ve seen Sam @ houseplusplant alternate between watering deeply and then watering just the top inch in between the full watering. Sam said it helps the shallow roots stay moist while the rest of the soil is drying out. But I think yours is making a great comeback! That’s how mine started and it’s been good ever since I started seeing new growth! You got this!
Hello Fern! ❤ You definitely are a Sweetie! I struggle with any Strings! 🤷♀️ But I do keep trying! Lol Love you and Love your Videos!!! I'd love to see more of Sweet Olive! ❤🐾❤ Take Care and I also watch your other channel which I LOVE TOO! Stay Happy and Safe ❤🐾🤗
Re: peperomia prostrata, it's not an easy plant to grow in room conditions in my experience. I have one hanging in a bright window and it looks like total crap. I have cuttings on the bottoms of a couple of my terrariums and those have grown very well and look great. If you want your cuttings to thrive, I'd suggest a terrarium. Re: moss poles, I don't have any! lol
Put the string of turtles under a grow light. They need strong light to grow. I almost killed mine last winter after pulling them out of the window. The top died off but after putting it under a grow light it came back and is now lush and full. The top is full too.
So you said you got a scindapus tattoo and I was wondering if you’ll show us 🤦🏼♀️. Duh. It took a few minutes but I got it. 😂 My prop boxes look about like yours. Soon I’ll get to them. Thanks for the video.
Welcome to the chaos that is String of Turtles!! I had them in my prop box too. They were blooming and everything and there were no roots just like yours!! I really need to send you a picture/video on Instagram with what I’ve got going on with them now 😂 My dream is to one day have a full hanging pot of them.
String of turtles was the plant that made me fall in love with plants. But seriously I died laughing when u said “is it even attached?” LITERALLY being a mother of string of turtles in a sentence!🤣 That pot is just fine! I always use some wire and make a U shaped pin to hold the strands in to root. Lots of light!!! And I fertilize with liquid kelp. 👌 Also until u feel like it’s stable I’d cut the blooms off even tho they’re so cute 😅
I would recommend that you try to propogate the string of turtles with the butterflymethod 🌿🌿🐢 I have had luck with my string of hearts several times, using that method, so I would think it will work well for your string of turtles too 🥰🤞
My String of Turtles was so sad for so long. Till someone told me to put it in a south-facing window so that it could get a lot of light. And now it's a huge overflowing gorgeous mess.
@@wildfern I will have to post a reel to my IG. I hardly ever notice it anymore cause it's just doing its thing, and I don't have to worry about it. But it took me two years to get there. But it was really the light, and I never let it dry out completely.
My string of turtles prefers slightly less humidity and super high light. I felt like I had to move her to a windowsill and hold off slightly on watering. She’s moody !!!!
I am not sure those are Majestics at all. Mine looked so different when it was that small. But who knows. I so need to clean up my Scindapsus pots. They haven't seen the shower in at least 1.5 years. :D

About the clips: perhaps you know someone who lives close to a IKEA store that could buy you some and post them to you? (I would do it, but it seems a bit unnecessary to send them from Sweden 😅)
OMG you sounded so concerned about the turtles. OK so cut the nodes and plop them on a bed of sphagnum in the pot you want it to be in forever. They have very very shallow roots. So don't ever repot it. Each node has a leaf on each side of the string. Clip them and grow them in a ziploc bag. They will grow like crazy!
“How many moss poles do you guys have?” For me, 12 on poles and 57 on a stick, temporary trellis, Velcro taped to a metal frame on wall, leaning against a “friend” or generally defying gravity in lieu of my overall neglect 🙄

My saviour!!! Found em! Thank you 🙏
On the string of turtles loop the new growth back into the pot to contact soil without cutting it
for the string of turtles mine thrive under a grow light, they’re sensitive to being underwatered so i water when the top inch dries out, and they love a shallow pot like others said. you can also stick some in your terrarium!
I remove my string of turtle blooms immediately to help it grow quicker and fuller! It focuses soooo much energy on pointless blooms!
Working with my own prop box while watching your video. Your laughter is so infectious!!! Makes this a fun task. 😊

I'm so sorry! It's really rough.
I’m so sorry to hear that. Sending prayer and good energy your way ❤
I am so sorry.. enjoy every second with him.. ❤
I’m so sorry your pet is so sick.
Rattie owner here, so sorry you're going through that! The short lifespan of these amazing creatures stinks.
I remember when your exotica was one or two leaves! It has grown quite a bit!

It’s also possible I gave it root rot but I’m usually pretty good with peperomia & thought I was being so careful… ugh.

I find that all small leaf peperomias are prone to root rot. Try a shallow well-draining dish? I hear they like bottom watering too
I picked up a beautiful Baltic Blue Pothos today. It's young and only 2 leaves have a fenestration. I can't wait till it starts growing and gives me more fenestrations. ❤

I have a mystery prop too & it’s driving me mad trying to work out what it is or who I got it from!
Hello Fern! ❤ You definitely are a Sweetie! I struggle with any Strings!
🤷♀️ But I do keep trying!
Lol Love you and Love your Videos!!! I'd love to see more of Sweet Olive! ❤🐾❤
Take Care and I also watch your other channel which I LOVE TOO! Stay Happy and Safe ❤🐾🤗
I still hype up my cebu blue at home 😛 she’s tiny compared to yours, but she’s finally growing!
Yay!! I’m just starting propagation bins soon! Gathering supplies before I get too deep into it 😅
they're so handy!! very minimal upkeep haha
What’s the black cage thing in your cabinet? I’m looking to do the same
No moss poles but I have a few on planks. They are babies but growing.
Loving all the content lately🫶🏼🪴
thank youuuu 🥰💚
omg ive been waiting for more prop box content!!
Love moss poles I have 64 atm lol bit obsessed
I just ordered the snake skin scindapsus. 😮

Good results

@plantsbymelissa posts about her cebu blue. She’s got hers on a pole and the leaves are huge but she still doesn’t have fenestrations yet.
How often do you need to open the propagation box to allow oxygen to enter?
I never open it. Maybe every couple of months to take a peek at them when I think of it.
So you said you got a scindapus tattoo and I was wondering if you’ll show us 🤦🏼♀️. Duh. It took a few minutes but I got it. 😂
My prop boxes look about like yours. Soon I’ll get to them.
Thanks for the video.

I really need to send you a picture/video on Instagram with what I’ve got going on with them now 😂 My dream is to one day have a full hanging pot of them.
oh yes I need to see! ugh one day, one day 🤞
The root system is very shallow as well. I look at it and a piece falls off😢
Yeah super delicate those little turtles. But so darn cute. 😊
String of turtles was the plant that made me fall in love with plants. But seriously I died laughing when u said “is it even attached?” LITERALLY being a mother of string of turtles in a sentence!🤣

Uff gracias por recordarmelo, tengo que transplantar, buen video amiga
No moss poles for me. I just can’t deal with them. I use small planks and bamboo stakes
Yayyy saving this video for the treadmill 😊❤
I would recommend that you try to propogate the string of turtles with the butterflymethod 🌿🌿🐢 I have had luck with my string of hearts several times, using that method, so I would think it will work well for your string of turtles too 🥰🤞
My String of Turtles was so sad for so long. Till someone told me to put it in a south-facing window so that it could get a lot of light. And now it's a huge overflowing gorgeous mess.
I hope mine sees the same success someday haha 😃
@@wildfern I will have to post a reel to my IG. I hardly ever notice it anymore cause it's just doing its thing, and I don't have to worry about it. But it took me two years to get there. But it was really the light, and I never let it dry out completely.
I bet if you popped a piece of your string of turtles in your coffin terrarium it'd grow well...
And where did you get that shirt, I love it ❤
I love cebu blue!
Mine are in a regular four inch pot.
I think you should leave the mamai and majestic together. I think it would make a beautiful combo plant :)
Where do you get those small clear pots from?
They were gifted to me, I have no idea and have never seen them around. I'll share a link if I ever find em!
I don't comment much but I love your videos between you and benjiplant
Love your shirt!✨💫
thank you my friend 🥰
My string of turtles prefers slightly less humidity and super high light. I felt like I had to move her to a windowsill and hold off slightly on watering. She’s moody !!!!
yay for another work day with fern! 😁😂
😃😃 perfect hahah
Fern, you're beautiful!😊
you're too kind 😊
At the moment I only have 9 poles but soon I'll be making more for my props that are growing well and need poles 🤭
thank you for getting me through washing the dishes 😘😅
I am not sure those are Majestics at all. Mine looked so different when it was that small. But who knows. I so need to clean up my Scindapsus pots. They haven't seen the shower in at least 1.5 years. :D
some of them have to be majestic! 👀 one is from Charmaine's collection. When will I learn my lesson to label? 😩
I think the First Mystery plant is an monstera subpinata
You dont need to cut the string of turtles, just put the vines on the soil and they will grow roots.
fern in the background makes studying for exams more tolerable
You can propagate your string of turtles on top of soil.
You need a shallow pot for your string of turtles.
I have no moss poles.
You would upload when I’m supposed to be cleaning 😂
For the skadis clips... I live in Ottawa and the IKEA here has them in stock. I can buy them and send to you if you like. Just let me know if you're interested.
About the clips: perhaps you know someone who lives close to a IKEA store that could buy you some and post them to you? (I would do it, but it seems a bit unnecessary to send them from Sweden 😅)
Lol does your shirt say green witch? 🤣
yes :) 🌿
If I cleaned out all my prop boxes, I would add an additional 100 plus plants to my collection. Better leave my boxes where they are. 😅
Oh and once they start growing long, take them out of the bag and voila! Lush full strings of things. Use this method for your hearts too
Love Cebu Blue!!
Another pothos I love is Baltic Blue…no one ever mentions that one either! Both underrated!
LABELS ❤
I know right 😩😩
Where’s the fun in that? 😂
Amazon has clips in us anyways!
“How many moss poles do you guys have?”
For me, 12 on poles and 57 on a stick, temporary trellis, Velcro taped to a metal frame on wall, leaning against a “friend” or generally defying gravity in lieu of my overall neglect 🙄
