I agree. Prequels, Original Trilogy, and Rogue One are all I really need.
Pretty much where I am too. Tho I'm not gonna lie I did enjoy Solo enough.
Original Trilogy is all I really need
Except that the original and the prequels end up being the ones that look the worst in 4k lol
_"I agree. Prequels, Original Trilogy, and Rogue One are all I really need."_
The Disney produced third trilogy is putting the whole movie business to shame.
Only episodes 1-6
The Phantom Menace was shot on 35mm film (one very short scene was shot digitally, and is obvious). Attack of the Clones was the first major motion picture shot on digital HD.
@Mike P AOTC began filming first, and came out in May of 2002. 28 Days Later came out in June.
All 6 have CG that I doubt was rendered in 4K so you’re not watching the 35mm original scan anyway.
Which scene is that?
*Actually it was shot on 70mm film
AOTC should be reclassified.. "Feature Length Animation" 🧐
My own thoughts on the Sequels are that I put them into the regard as fan fiction because Lucas made a full story and it began and ended with his approval adding Clone wars to the mix is as important as the Original trilogy IMO.
I agree. Nothing about the sequels feels like it fits in the universe that they are supposedly the conclusion of. Fan fiction indeed.
@@theblureview1083 It really is sad I remember back between 1978-1983 when my friends and I played with our Star Wars figures we all knew the things that if anyone wanted to play Star Wars and was using them the way the JJ and KK were setting up we'd ask if they knew what the movie was about.
Haha, exactly my point when people ask why I don't like them. When I'm watching the new movies it is painfully obvious that nobody that's creatively involved behind the movies knows what star wars is about or even that they're aware of what took place in the movies before .
@@theblureview1083 I seem to have found my people xD There's just alot of problems with those movies. There's no world-building so everything feels small, the legacy characters are shit on (Luke got it the worst) and they just don't feel like Star Wars. Sure they use iconography but fail to understand WHY it was iconic and the less said about TLJ the better. Those bombers were the WORST design I ever saw and honestly a liability in battle. Y-Wings exist, they fufill the same function and are much faster and Holdo being obstinate about the plan made matters worse.
Frankly everyone involved got dealt bad hands but John Boyega got dealt a particularly shit hand. Finn HAD potental in his backstory as a Stormtrooper and could've led to drama like not wanting to shoot other troopers because they're just like he was, brainwashed so he'd be inclined instead to try and save them and he really should've been force sensitive tbh but no, his character progressively gets wasted more and more until in Rise Of Palpatine, he's struggling desperately to justify being in the movie!
Totally agree.. First 6 movies + Rogue One is the universe of movies.
So you think the atrocious Episode 1 and 2 is better than the sequel trilogy? I would be concerned if you actually felt that way. I cant get through 10 minutes of the acting and dialogue
@A Playa Named Mike Bleezy I like episode 3-9. I just find 1 and 2 unwatchable
@@Chrisday90 Absolutely. The first 2 movies were overly childish and not at the same level for sure. However, they didn't spit in the face of our heroes. I am concerned you don't see this. :) LOL
@@windfire5380 Iike the idea that the old group were expendable. It makes watching something less predictable. Everyone wants the happy group hug Hollywood ending. I like that it didn't end with Return of the Jedi. Not enough lives were spent
Rogue One, followed by Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and give Return Of the Jedi an honourable mention. You can shit can the rest of the films.
Agree. Eps 1-6 + Rogue. I have "forgot" those awful sequels that throw away the entire story arc. Complete madness.
Yup
Too bad they didn't release the original trilogy undoctored as well!!
That's because "undoctored" Versions of the Originaltrilogy are destroyed....
Mike P
You can restore it good enough.
Look for the fan "despecialized" versions or the fan 4K77, 4K80 and 4K83 projects
Thumbs up for not buying the dismal Disney trilogy lol. Hearing mostly underwhelming reviews for the 4k's. I'll stick with my blu's just now.
I disagree. My 4K TROS dvd has great picture and sound quality. Very satisfied.
Some Guy 99 that’s actually the reason I didn’t go for the individual releases. I never understand the reasoning behind that. They release all these new cases of the previous 10 to make it uniform then released the last one and changed it again? Stupid and annoying
The Phantom Menace was shot on 35mm film.
Yes it was largely shot on 35mm but it also was one of the first films to also have scenes shot digitally. Any scene that require VFX (which was most of them) were rendered in 2K. Its actually a pretty complicated process if you look up some info on it. Either way, the 4K presentation isn't native 4k like many 35mm films, it is an upscale 4K from a 2K DI.
Yes it contains both 1080 digital and 35mm shots.
TheBluReview It’s actually sourced from a 4K DI that Disney created in 2014
*Actually the Phantom Menace was shot on 70mm film
@@alcarbo8613 no it wasn't
People are interested in the quality of the 4K...…….NOT the bloody packaging ! ! !
Paul Henner I’m interested in the packaging. I already own the 4K box set and I wanted to take a look at this to see if there were any with cool packaging that I should pick up as well
totally agree, watched the whole video to realize that the guy talk only about the boxes. WTF !
Dude the packaging is one of the biggest things I look at if the 4k comes in a steelbook I'm gonna spend the extra money to just buy the packaging the packaging is one of the best parts

I highly doubt the CG “enhancements” Lucas made to Ep 4, 5 & 6 were rendered in 4K, even if the original movie was photographed on 35mm. Essentially I’d say you’re getting an upscale on all 7 you’ve got there.
Not all 7 to be sure. I know that Rogue One was shot on 6.5k and the digital effects were rendered in 4K-DI. Rogue One is true 4K
Is it worth collecting now in 2024 with each release (Lucas age SW movies) hovering around $70-$100 each?
I must say I HATE when people say they, “don’t consider the newest of the saga part of the saga”.
This simple is NOT FACT !
It is part of the saga and thus the story of the skywalker saga.
I do AGREE !
They were not as good.
But get over it if you are a STAR WARS FAN ( at the least ) and want to own this series you MUST GET the WHOLE SAGA.
NOT STOIES AS MUCH JUST THE SAGA in itself.
But that is so hardheaded of an individual to avoid THREE movies simply because they weren’t as good but still but the rest???
Hypocritical.
Just got the 27 disc special edition. Same discs as these afaik. Just to say the box they come in is Apple-like in its quality. And you get a neat hardback book. Price is the same as buying all 9 movies on 4K so I feel pleased.
Do the discs get scratched easily becausr they’re in the sleeves?
Sticking with the prequels and Rogue One on Blu-ray, but only have DVD versions of the original trilogy. Best Buy sold 4K versions of those for $13.99 each on the 4th so I couldn't resist the upgrade.
I have The Complete Saga 2015 reissue so is it worth getting these releases if I don't own an Ultra HD Blu-Ray player?
Also yes, Prequels and OT. That's the story George wanted to tell and did so.
If you don't have a 4K player then these wouldn't even be able to be used. Its a good idea though if you plan on getting a player in the future.
Like you I also only consider episodes 1-6 as 'real' Star Wars (Rogue One was ok too but I've never felt a need to own it). That being said, looks like at Best Buy the individual movies are about $20-24 each in 4k, so $120-150ish to buy 1-6. There's a 'Skywalker Saga' set from the UK which is region free for about 200. Do you think there's any reason to pay $50 more for 3 movies I don't ever want to watch again, but just for the boxed set and any special features that includes that you wouldn't get with the individual movies?
just a personal opinion i like jar jar binks
Rogue One was not shot on 35mm. It was shot on an Alexa and Alexa 65
Totally agree, not interested in the sequel trilogy (though I didn't mind The Force Awakens and bought that on blu-ray in the hope the other two would be better - they weren't). I have the original trilogy on blu-ray and happy with those, so will just try to get the prequels on blu-ray too. Rogue One was my favourite of the recent movies (and possibly my favourite Star Wars universe movie overall) as it felt like the original trilogy and had some good action and performances, so will get that on 4K. Only just found your channel and subscribed right away as you seem to share my preferences.
So my order of Star wars from best to not best (I don't want to say the w-word) is:
1: Episode 6 and 4 (I can never decide)
3: Episode 5 and 3 (again, can't decide)
5: Episode 1
6: Episode 2
So I've gotta say that you saying that 4, 6 and 3 are the best transfers really makes me happy. I don't care about 2 that much (dunno why really) so I also don't care about the transfer as I'd likely only buy it to own the entire set and never watch it.
I also really liked rogue one, definatelly not the same as the originals (but also not comparable imo) so I'm happy that turned out well. I think I'll buy the exact ones you have.
Hi there....im a HUGE Star Wars fan (the same films you've listed, not the Disney crap apart from Rogue One) but I'm not overly tech savvy but thought this question I'm asking 4 years later might be valid.
I've just bought a brand new 4k tv with obviously newer tech than what was around 4 years ago when you made this review. So my question is, would these 4k films look better on newer tvs with better upscalling and features like quantom dot technology? I hope my question makes sense and I'd love your feedback as im thinking about adding these 4k versions to my collection 🙌😊
Thanks so much🙌😊
Well, I wish you should spend more time on the actual screen picture quality and detail and Not on the boxes or your personal opinion
Love the channel... What is your opinion on current Disney releases having reduced dynamic range when it comes to the soundtracks? I read other reviews where the volume needs to be turned up past reference.. Why does this occur? Thank you!
Without doing a bunch of research my guess is it has something to do with a lack of time spent on the atmos tracks they put in their releases. I've read people talk about it in forums and no one really knows why it is the case. I think honestly Dosney just rushes to get their stuff on 4K with atmos added and doesn't spend lots of time remixing the source to get what fans want/deserve.
If I only have a blu ray player and Since I’m pretty picky on loving great picture quality and Bonus features, is it worth buying the 4Ks (I only want the blu rays abs the bonus discs) or the Fox 2011 set?
They have the same releases with bluray/DVD as well which will include all the extras
TheBluReview so 4K to go?
PlotagonDP 36 the 4k movies come with Blu Ray discs
the blureview is only about packaging, the guy don't even own a tv...
It's not the last time--for good or ill. No doubt in 5 years, or at the next anniversary, we'll see another box set with a new 4k transfer and the documentaries, special features, and deleted scenes not included in this set. What would be *really* nice would be if Disney created extended editions of the six (or nine for those of you who include the ST) films. That would be worth an upgrade. Additionally, Rick McCallum had announced many years ago that they'd created 100 hours of documentaries on the saga. This was said during the same announcement that mentioned the uncovering of the dailies, which included entire shot sequences for the films that hadn't been seen by anyone except the original editors, which they *also* wanted to release in a future box set.
I certainly hope they do release them again!
Great "Star Wars" 4k reviews & It's very disappointing that Disney's didn't give the Prequels a True Native 4k Upgrade! Why?
Thanks Vincent! Since the Prequels were shot digitally and the special effects were rendered in 2K, it isnt really possible to give them native 4k transfers. You still see that occur with new movies like the marvel movies. The studios would have to re-render the CGI in 4K which would be extremely costly and wouldnt make sense for them to do at this time.
I didn't consider this, but thanks for reminding me about it. I can't imagine anything being done about it though.
AOTC and ROTS were also shot entierly in 1080p. So there exits no 4K source material. TPM was shot mostly on 35mm, some scenes were shot digitally.
yes, but it's starwars, a rerender of all the cgi and mastering wouldn't cost that much in 2020, and disney have the cash they just made many billions with the shitty sequels....
I have the best buy exclusive box set of the saga. The 4k is solid, not too much to boast about, though I wish there was. The fact that we only have the special editions in 4k is disappointting.
Attention: SW Episode 1 was shot on Film not Digital (SONY 1080p camera) unlike Episode 2 + 3!
Yes, but all of the seens that required VFX (which were nearly all of them) were finished with a 2K DI which doesn't allow them to do anything but upscale the old transfer
@@theblureview1083 Ok but 2K DI like 2 + 3 on UHD anyway
Is there a list of the supplementary material that is no longer available that was once on DVD back in the day? There should be one so we can all hunt them down online or RUclips for rips since we can't count on Di$ney to do the right thing.
Your 4K shelf would look so much better if you got individual slips instead of box sets like the first 4 dceu box set you have and the Jason bourne, mission impossible, and mad max fury road 4K slip is beautiful instead of the high octane set
You're absolutely right! Unfortunately with so many movies always coming out I tend to prioritize new titles as opposed to splitting up box sets for individual releases simply due to cost. In a perfect world I'd have all individual releases with slips (like the daniel craig bond set that was recently released)
I was most curious how the non-film prequels would turn out. I’m sure if George could get his way he would just remake and re-render all the assets, which would be cool. Along with a thorough reworking though you would be bound to get a little Macklunkey or what have you so you would need to take the bad with the good I suppose.
I think the extensive DNR is a result of them being intended for a 3D release, George had planned to put them all out in cinemas again in 3D but that all came to a halt after George sold to Disney. I've noticed that all these "remastered" films that came alongside a 3D release all have heavy DNR. Terminator 2, Predator, Jurrasic Park. I think the only thing Disney, or rather Lucasfilm did with the movies is Color Grade them for HDR. Rogue One wasn't shot on 35mm film, it was shot on the Alexa 65 which is a 6k camera.
I have heard that about the DNR and the 3D intent by Lucas, it would make sense. Didn't know about the 6K camera for Rogue one. It's definitely an extremely good looking picture quality
I'm sticking with the individual releases I would love the box set but $350. I've got one through five I do plan on getting rogue one because it fits into the storyline between three and four, I love the artwork the holographic look on every cover. My favorites were 1-3. I will get the sequels 7 8 and 9 but I am debating to get nine at all because of the bullshit that happens. But I'll be getting them all because I love Star wars and I want all the movies.
glad that I picked them up in 4K last year except for the sequel trilogy movies but rogue one was great but not a fan of solo
I agree completely with every point you made on the actual series.
I would probably buy the prequel trilogy on 4k. But if you havnt already, try to get a hold of Harmy's Despecialized, or 4k77 and 83. That is a direct 4k scan of the 35mm negatives and its amazing. There are DNR. and no DNR versions. No DNR of 4k77 is the closest thing you will ever get to how the movie actually looked in 1977. Its like hearing the little scratches on a vinyl record. I did like Rogue One and Solo. But if I never watch the Sequel Trilogy again, it'll be too soon.
It's an ignorant comment, because you really do overestimate how old film used to look. Star Wars in 1977 was probably hovering around 720p quality, not to mention film traveled constantly, so it degraded much faster. Harmy is just a butt hurt loser that hates the fact George Lucas had the right to change his versions, funny since the projects Harmy did were altering the movies to a subjective version that he remembers.
@@millabasset1710 🤔
I'll stick with my starwars 4k 77 uhd the way it's meant to be seen the original special edition bs
Do these original trilogy discs have Lucas' 2004 edits, such as changing Boba's voice in V, Christenson's inclusion in VI, and all the CGI nonsense in IV?
Yes, they do. There is unfortunately no legal way to watch the theatrical cuts on anything better than an upscaled Laserdisc (included on the original DVD release).
There are, however, HD fan-restorations of the original trilogy called Harmy's Despecialized Editions and a 4K fan-restoration of A New Hope called 4K77, you should look into them.
New subscriber and agree the saga ends with Return of the Jedi. Thank u for the review.
Should I get them on 4K if I already have the blu rays?
I have all 9 movies in 4k and an OLED 2020 edition, it's worth all the money! VHS and DVD is dead, cause it's really bad quality xD
I guess I’ll go only for 4, 5 and 6 in 4k. Thx for the review.
The Original 3 are the only ones I am for sure on getting still thinking about the prequels but I probably will
Exactly what I plan on getting.
Thanks for the reviews. Phantom Menace was shot in 35 mm and Rogue one 4k.
Rogue One used the Arri 65, actually a 6K format. They used 1970’s lenses to help create an older film look to better match up to Ep. IV.
Return of the Jedi was perfect! A great 4k transfer. Revenge of the Sith was excellent in 4k. My only criticism. No dolby vision. Disney is too cheap to pay licensing fees to dolby labs.
Not too cheap to do so - after all they pay for Dolby digital, Dolby atmos etc. Dolby vision is too young and in a war with HDR-10. Once one of them wins or most TV manufacturers support both, media will follow.
Did Return of the Jedi have "special edition" changes? Then its not perfect.
Short answer - No.
Long answer, it’s not 4K quality. The OT was shot on terrible quality film stock and hasn’t been really well restored. Unlike Jaws that’s had numerous repairs and restorations.
The PT apart from The Phantom Menace was all shot digitally so you’re only getting Blu-ray quality. Same for the sequel trilogy. The Phantom Menace was shot on film but the digital effects like most films is shot in standard HD - 1080 Blu-ray quality.
So, none of them are worth it. The versions on Disney+ have the Dolby Atmos sound, not sure if these do. Although have LFL messed with soundtrack again. So beyond a better (technically) Soundtrack what’s the point of upgrading.
Also, it’s Disney, and Lucasfilm - you’ll rarely if ever now get a definitive version from them.
I’ve heard the upgrading, artefacts, edge enhancement is all a bit horrible.
All tell-tell signs the actual film hasn’t been restored, and that their are other factors. Definitely not worth getting. Now if it were a definitive set I’d maybe get it. Also it’ll be the newer 1997+ cuts.
But if you don’t have them the BD box set is a good buy.
Analogue film can easily be converted into a high digital resolution buddy. Go learn about it, there are many examples of old films restored and converted to 1080p or 4K
No theatrical versions ha
Episode 2 and 3 will not be true 4K as they were filmed in Digital 1080p, Episode 1 was on film so that should be able to scale nicely as will Episodes 4, 5 and 6
Episode 1 had CG in nearly every shot so they did a 2K intermediate
TPM was shot on film.
Do any if y’all think Disney will re-release Solo, The Last Jedi, and Rise of Skywalker with the covers to match these?
Who cares? They're all shite!
In Germany we have all Star Wars Movies except TROS with the new cover artworks.
I'm sure it will follow in a few months when everybody already spent money on the current TROS release, so they can force the enthusiasts to buy twice.
Rogue One is made canon by the opening crawl of A New Hope so it should count
Is the disc art work 4k pics?
I don't have 4K player, do I need to get one or will they release regular blu rays (again). It may have maclunkey, but the lightsaber colour is finally correct
They have blu ray releases that came out last year that have the same blu discs. Otherwise yes you'd have to have a 4k player.
@@theblureview1083 it's so odd they messed up the lightsaber colour, I guess I need to upgrade again
These new 4K editions come with a regular blu-ray sourced from the new masters. In some regions they have even been released on their own. Not in the states though.
@@Robin_Glader I gave in and got a 4K player. Tested the Episode 4 blu ray to double check, and yes you're correct Greeso says maclunkey so now I have better regular blu rays for a situation like when I need to fly with my portable blu ray player

Lastly, do you recommend a purchase?
Yes same as the prior Disney blu ray releases last year. If you're a star wars fan then yes I'd say snag them. If you're only casually interested and already own the Blus then I'd say either pass on them or just get episodes 3-6 and pass on 1 & 2. End of the day, they're all going to be at least marginally better than the blus its just up to you if that slight increase is worth the cost. If I had to do it again I'd still buy all of them if that helps
TheBluReview that does help, thank you. I was initially on the fence because the films are available on Disney+

Very helpful review. I have all 7 of these sitting in my cart right now (also like you, none of the Disney sequels). Just wanted to check out some reviews because I'm concerned about the prequels. I almost took them out of my cart while you were talking about Attack of the Clones, but now I'm really curious about Revenge of the Sith.
Original Trilogy, and Rogue One are all I really need. The rest is fluff. OG Star Wars fan here.
Your canon theory rocks!
Ok maybe some one here can answer this one for me.
If the prequels were shot with a maximum resolution of 2k for VFX, and the standard blu-ray was down-scaled to 1080p from 2k, shouldn't the 2k master up-scaled to 4k look better as there is still information gained from the 2k that the 1080p downscale lost? I get just taking the 1080p 2k DI and up scaling it to 4k wouldn't amount to much gain, but the 2k source up-scaled to 4k should be better.
What am I missing here?
Edit: sentence restructured. Question reorganized.
It does look better, that's what I said in the video. I'm not sure I get your question? You're completely right with everything you said. It does look better than the blu ray, but IMO it has the least beneficial upgrade and has some issues with the DNR
@@theblureview1083 Thanks for the reply. Sometimes I'm just a bit slow on the get up. I just wanted to make sure what I thought was matching with what I heard.
Your video was great by the way...you got a sub out of me.
2k IS 1080p. 2k, 4K, 5k e are the horizontal resolutions. 1080, 1440, 2160 etc are the vertical resolutions. The CGI was rendered in the Blu-Ray’s native resolution. 1080p/2k. Upscaling 2k to 4K requires inventing 75% of the new pixels which technology is quite good at but not perfect by far.
Very unfortunate (scandalous actually) that the 4K blu-ray are not available in Belgium with Dutch subtitles
Could I buy JUST the original trilogy or does it have to come with the prequels? Because I don’t wanna have to buy the prequels. It would just be a waste of money because I’ll never watch those
Sure, you could buy whatever ones you want!
TheBluReview oh cool. I didn’t understand if it was like a box set or individual movies
Already have a like for not liking the Sequel trilogy.
The last time, physical copies will be ever be released. ¿Because of the current means of production? Or because there is no interest in them?
I was speculating that this would be the last time star wars movies get a new physical release. I could surely be wrong but I doubt there is another physical format after 4k, but who knows!
Laserdisc will return ! you, ll see .
The packages are terrible. The discs come very close to each other, I hate it
Thanks for the review. I picked up 3 thru 6. I gotta say I appreciate the 4k transfers. Made all the films look Natural. Grain is there just very light. Of course it could be better but...its way better then what I expected. And...maybe its wishful thinking, but since Disney has the original theatrical cuts on 35mm and ran thru 4k with 16-bit color. I'm hoping they'll release them in a box set. Might be pricey tho
I would love it if we could get the originals.. although if I was a betting man we wont ever see them released as long as LucasFilm is in the hands of Disney.
@@theblureview1083 I mean Lucasfilm being the creator of the movies, what is their deal of not releasing them? I'll never understand it
Well it's not really the same company anymore, its Disney. LucasFilm by name only. Im sure they could do it, but that would require effort and money, and they likely don't think it's worth it. Disney (as of late) is about making lots of money and has proven to be less interested in doing things for different fan bases. Even huge successful things like the MCU get pretty quick physical releases without many bells or whistles.
@@theblureview1083 yea it looks that way. I honestly think they would've made more sales releasing the theatrical cuts. I know man people not buying these versions because they're the altered ones. Oh well, it is what it is

No they do not.
Yea they do 5:00
So I'm going to ask a simple question... Are the Star Wars films worth upgrading to 4K?
Tough to answer, depends on where you find the worth. Do they all look better than the blu rays, yes. Is the increase worth the expense.. up to you!
@@theblureview1083 What if I last owned them on DVD?
Just to let you know Phantom Menace was shot completely on 35mm film.
IRON ASPECT no it was not shot completely in film there were a few shots digital.
I gained a newfound disrespect for the prequel trilogy after recently rewatching all the movies in preparation for Rise of Skywalker. They still have cool moments but overall I think the sequel trilogy movies are better in my opinion. They’re definitely uneven but I just enjoy them more. I did grow up watching the prequels and remember going to watch Attack of the Clones several times in the theater but watching them now I just think they’re not that good. Good review though. I’ll probably eventually end up buying these to upgrade my 2011 set.
I'm glad you like the new ones! Certainly the quality of the movies from a production and dialog standpoint was worse with the prequels ill admit to that. I just thought they were a more faithful telling of a story set in the universe that George created, and the new ones just felt like a totally different thing to me.
TheBluReview I can see where your coming from. These new ones are very different but that’s also what I like. I definitely don’t hate the prequels they’re just less enjoyable for me.
Notably, "Prequels did Fail in some areas" ..shows Jar Jar picture 😂.
"LAST time we"ll get Star Wars physically..." Ironically on front of each episode "FIRST time on 4K" ..😊
If you don't use the digital codes I'm looking for the digital copies
Episode 6 looks awful, not worth the upgrade.
Waxy and smooth, worse than the old Blu-ray.
Definitely has signs of some DNR going on. In my opinion I think overall it still is the best it has looked, but if you really don't like that smoothing out then I completely understand!

Just finished the prequels, disney made no effort with attack of the clones at all, phantom Menance was quite shiny at times and Return of the sith was an easy job for them as it looked good anyways. Unfortunately the first 2 looked worse than the blueray at times.
Im with you on the new disney horse dung movies. Jedi Poogu!!!
Oh just to add, Rouge One has fit into my saga nicely also. Fan from the Uk. 👍
Lucasfilm conducted the restoration and handed them to Disney prior to the sale - hence MACLUNKEY!
Finn is the only character that I liked in the sequels
I actually really like Solo
What is worse guys, the prequels or the new trilogy?
Well, I watched all the prequels and stopped after the death of Akbar on The Last Jedi. Mind, I was once a huge Star Wars fan and I've seen three and a half Sharknado movies. I couldn't finish The last Jedi nor the desire to and absolutely no interest in Rise of Skywalker. Loved Rogue One though, and continually talk about how it was a great example of a movie set in the Star Wars universe without being like the main series in tone.
New trilogy by far. Prequels are awesome
The only way to watch the Orig. Trilogy is Harmy's despecialized version. Why? Just look at the colors. On Lucasfilm's version Leia looks like she has made up by a child (too red) on Harmy's version she looks like a grown woman. Same thing for C3-PO: he has a constant red glow that's not there - and _should_ not be there - in Harmy's version. Don't drool over sharpess. That disappears when you're 1 meter away from your TV. The completely ruined colors, however, do not.
I would love to have these for my birthday in a month in a half
I'm not getting this because I'm just as happy with the fan 4k77 preservation for my star wars watching
I agree. I just wish I knew how to get a copy of 4K77 on a UHD disc. My computer chugs when I try running 4K77 (because the file size) and I just wanna watch the original films on my home theater set-up.
@@Webhead123 it works on most TVs if you have a 1tb hard drive
There may have been a couple elements shot digitally for fx, however
Yeah I misspoke. Everything real was shot on film, but it everything with special effects (which is probably more than not) was all finished at 2K digitally
Rogue One was shot digitally
Good review. I own the The Complete Saga blu ray set but I went ahead and picked these up as well. Like yourself, I skipped the Sequel Trilogy. I have no desire to own those and as far as I’m concerned the Skywalker story is six movies. The sequel trilogy is just bad fan fiction. The only thing I enjoyed from those was more John Williams music.
Well said. Yeah I'm just going to pretend they don't exist!
I have the Blu-ray and special editions and the theater versions from harmony awesome I love return of the Jedi and I have the Vcds to
I bought the Originals and two of the prequels 4Ks. Attack Of The Clones was a terrible transfer and wished I'd saved my money. I actually can't get over how bad Natalie Portman was in this but the dialogue was god awful, still C3P0 managed to get a few funny moments so I believe Anthony Daniels would go to Lucas and say "Hmm I don't think so", so who knows what happened.
I would love to have that for my birthday this year
Mmmmm okay daddy
I think I would get the box set
Both these and the box set re-release on blu-ray are terrible in most parts. Here's hoping Disney will take out the CGI additions that Lucas made and just remaster the original movies. Rogue One is a stellar movie in terms of picture quality, HDR and sound though definitely worth having the 4K version.
Someone answered why theatrical pre-1996 Star Wars releases were not Disney owned. The Disney corporation took over the Prequels and Original Trilogy but could not profit from anything shown to be a rights given to George Lucas. If Disney invests money in 1977-1983 movies and what they did vs 1996-2013 efforts then copyrighted courts would award George Lucas this rights!
No, it’s on Disney +
great, although in the UK the only option is to buy on ebay for £40 each or to get it imported...or pay £199 to Disney for a special edition saga boxset...which I can't do because the sequel trilogy sucked. I just don't want those...they killed it for me. So I'm sticking with the originals only..but would love the 4k discs...just can't buy them easily over here.
Yeah that's unfortunate that they're hard to find for a decent price over there :( I completely agree about the sequels, I'd love to have a cool box set but I'm definitely not going to ever buy the sequels
I'll just stick to my blue rays
God the sequels were awful.
Ha, agreed.
I just bought the original trilogy separately, I do not care for the prequels on 4k.
