    Barry, you may want to do a "refresh" on this video. Sim-Lab has updated its design, and made it even better! No big plates to mount the feet to the uprights anymore. Massive sandwich plates that attach the crossbar to the uprights. Great VESA mount. No more cutting of the crossbar for the quad mount. And they may have beefed up some of their bolts as well. This is an amazing piece of hardware!

Do you have a preference for 27”monitors VS 32” T.V.s and why. I do not have an endless budget and would appreciate your opinion.

    I see they've modified the design a couple of times since you produced this (excellent) vid. I've just had one delivered and it looks like they've done away with the bracing brackets at the bottom of the uprights. They're now only supported by the 40x40 corner brackets. They've also done away with the corner brackets that support the cross piece and now use 'sandwich plates'. Thoughts?

    Would it be possible to place this on a table? The horicontal bar would be around 35-40cm height. Because i want to use my monitor also for playing shooter. So the only thing i had to do is to slide the stand for- and backwards on the table, when i Change the Game.

  • @Petrolhead66
    @Petrolhead66 4 года назад

    I think i see a couple flaws in the design, especially when it comes to the vesa mounting brackets for the side monitors. Once attached to the profile and the monitors mounted you will not be able to slide the side monitors up to the ctr one? Also with monitors with rear facing ports you will have to fit some 2” stand off to get the hdmi/dp plugs in as they will foul on the profile, assuming the monitor ports are near the vesa mount? Why all monitor manufacturers just don't have downward facing ports is a surprise to me

    Hi, loved the review and now in the process of ordering the same monitorstand setup from simlab, two monitor questions though, did you buy the spacers for the monitor offset from simlabs? If not, from where. And how did you get 144hz on all three monitors since the 1080ti only has two displayports and the pg279p only has display and hdmi ports. I am running a MSI 1080ti. Looking forward to a swift reply(pun intended).

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  5 лет назад +1

      Yes the offset screws came from Sim-Labs. Yes your MSI only comes with 2 DP connectors. I have a Geoforce 1080ti. It has 3 DP connectors and one HDMI. Thats how I run the three ROG monitors at 144hz. My 4th monitor is a 1920x1080 TN panel that runs at 60hz over the HDMI port.

    Hi Barry, what model ASUS monitors are you running. Are they the PG279Q ROG Swifts?
    Very curious about your computer setup, as I'm sure you would need a pretty high end graphics cards to run your monitors in surround.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  7 лет назад +1

      Yes it does. I'm running the latest GeForce Titan X card. Also known as the Titan XP. I have a mild overclock on it, just because it's so easy to do. Frame rates are very high at all tracks. The PG279Q ROG monitors are truly a beautiful thing to behold when properly driven. The combined resolution is 7680x1440. The IPS screens make a bigger difference than you would at first think. As you don' t experience the "shadow effect" that you do with side mounted TN monitors. Your peripheral view is nice and bright even when angled at 60 degrees like mine are. Lot of money though.

    • @antcap66
      @antcap66 7 лет назад

      I have the same monitors and Stage 4 rig. Need to upgrade my 980ti SLI cards as it seems to struggle at that resolution on these monitors. Time to pony up and bite the bullet on a Titan XP or two......scary .

    Great video as always Barry. I have a question that is a little off topic regarding the monitors. Is it possible to run different size monitors.
    I was think about doing the benq curved ones, with the 35" as the main monitor, and some 27" ones for the sides. The 35" is a different aspect ratio than the 27"s.
    I'm just wondering if you would have any insight into wether or not that setup would work properly?

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  7 лет назад

      I'm sure the proper GPU would have no problem driving them. But, I'm not sure how the GPU's driver would act with the different aspect ratios. Also, it may difficult to adjust the monitors so that the colors were the same. Not to mention getting the screens borders to line up. As you will have a smaller screen on each side. Of course the only way to find out is to try it. An expensive proposition if you can't get it set up to your requirements. Personally, I would just use all the same sized screen to avoid possible hours of frustration. But that's just my opinion based on past experience with all things computer related.

    • @ChrisShelton024
      @ChrisShelton024 7 лет назад

      Sim Racing Garage Thanks Barry. I guess the 35" is the same height as the 27", just wider (hence the different aspect ratio). I think you are probably right though. I don't want to spend the money and find out it doesn't work right.

      @simracinggarage3026  7 лет назад

      The rift is a great device. But like anything else it has compromises. Personally, I prefer the best graphics experience I can get. When I compare the CV1 to my triple ASUS IPS monitors being pushed by a Titan XP card, it's like going back in time when I use the CV1. And again, for me, not the most comfortable thing to wear during long sessions. However, where it really shines now is with flight sims. Very natural feeling to be able to look all around you during flight maneuvers. And most flight sim graphics are not that great anyway. Also, the CV1 provides very good immersion when driving. VR has a very bright future, just not there yet IMO, and we have a ways to go to get me to switch. That's just how I feel about it. There are plenty of folks out there who are using it all the time.

      Yes, very good immersion with the VR. Just too many compromises for me. I still use it. But mostly for other folks to try and my flight sim.

    Hey Barry maybe I missed it but how much was it delivered?

    • @simracinggarage3026

      I was around 550.00 delivered for the "Quad" stand. I have a link to the Sim-Lab site in this video's description.
      That price will fluctuate depending on the value of the euro when you order.
