- Do you hate getting your levels wrong. The 32 bit float Zoom F2 eliminates the need to set levels and allows for some cool audio tricks. Here we showcase the difference from the Zoom H1n to the F2 and I try my hand at filming a dynamic scene. A dynamic range scene that is!

great production value, great story, technical but fun... I am watching all F2 reviews and yours was one of the best, thanks, Tim
I really appreciate the comment! There's a lot of great content out there. I had a lot of fun putting it together.
A great review. Thank you very much for the detailed tests
I feel so damn educated right now. also your examples/demos were phenomenal. great work man!
Thanks! Means a lot coming from you. I'm just happy we got rid of the time specters in time.
Thanks man! Now I’m clear how it works 👍
From reddit and this is well thought out and explained. You know your stuff!
Thanks, that's what I was going for. Appreciate it!
Best review on this yet, and it's not close. 32-bit float definitely requires more attention and I was curious about the process of working with it in a DAW. I so appreciate the side-by-side comparison with the H1N.
32-bit float strikes me as similar to shooting photos in RAW - the additional margin of error allows for a ton of correction and creativity (at the expense of a small amount of post-processing).
Thanks for this brilliant review.
Thanks, I'm glad i was able to put some useful information out there. The RAW comparison is a very good one. There is a bit of work, but it's really not much if it's already part of your workflow.
Hey, that intro was really good!
Why is my dude not popular already??? I really don't care about audio stuff but you make it really entertaining and educational
Thanks! I'm happy you like it, trying to make it accessible to everyone.
Excellent explanation! My F2 just arrived today
Awesome! I hope it works great for you.
Very helpful, thanks
You're welcome!
nice review❤
Thank you!
Thanks for the great explanation of the difference kinds of audio recording. Havent seen it explained any better elsewhere. Waiting for my F2 to be delivered. Current US supplies seem to be gone. Hope to get mine in about 6 weeks with luck.
Wow, zoom seems to have a hit on their hands. Glad you appreciated the video.
Looks like a grate tool to have. Thanks for sharing.
So far I've been happy with it. For what it is I think it's pretty good.
very informing video
Glad you liked it
peut on voir ce que ça donne avec de la musique forte en soirée ou concert ? Merci.
Par ailleurs le fichiers 32 BITS est il géré par Final Cut Pro X ? Merci.
The best thing you said in this video was "one less thing to worry about" ... when you are a solo shooter that is critical ... like good auto focus, audio levels are a constant issue that you must deal with. I live in Saigon, a very noisy city and fight the audio level battle constantly. I am slowly (budget considerations) replacing all my recording devices with 32-bit float. The next to be replaced are my Tascam DR10's ...Zoom F2's will be the replacement.
Exactly. So easy to get focused on setting your camera settings just right that it's easy to forget to double check your audio. So far the F2 has been working well for me, but I'm keeping an eye open for a better lav mic.
thanks for sharing ,just received my Zoom F2, haven't open the box yet, however I did just unboxed another amzing audio device: Instamic pro plus,it is also a good choice for outdoor/indoor mobile audio solution. it also support 32 bit float audio recording, best part it is in tiny size (maybe 1/2 of zoom F2),maybe you can try it as well in future.
Seems like an interesting product, though the mic is built in. What do you think of it?

Just checked it out. Seems like a cool thing.
good review and demo. question if you know. I have been using a dual mic wireless system and recording into my Zoom H4n. while it is decent I am still having audio issues (it is strapped onto my camera guy and though he has headphones he isn't really monitoring it or adjusting it, I actually start it while it is on him) he is more concerned with camera operations. This item might make it much easier for both of us. but will that system work with my wireless. if I plug the receiver into it? and it splits each transmitter to each side.
The recording on this is mono only so it doesn't seem like it would work for your application. Other recorders in their F line do have multitrack, but they are much larger.
I guess my question would be, does it make sense to buy a higher quality microphone to go with this, or is the microphone included enough for high quality audio?
I think it could definitely benifit from a better mic. I clipped a little on the loud portion and a better mic might avoid that. Haven't tried a different mic on it yet.
Great video. The F2 is amazing but definitely needs some eq that lav, sounds muddy. And I’ve heard it on a few videos. Nothing to hard to fix.
Thank you for the comment!
Love your sound comparisons Brother. I have 3 Tascam DR-10Ls I don’t have clipping issues, but I’m going to pickup 2 of these to lav more people.
really appreciate the comparison in the editing program- i have been looking to find out how ppl edit float audio and i think you answered that (with a program such as audition?- can you do same thing in premiere pro?)
I also am wondering how this has been treating you all in all? Is it too much work to have to edit the audio for every video?
Hardly any extra work at all. I don't think Premiere let's you edit like that directly. There are some free audio editors that will work too, but audition is pretty seamless.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo i saw on one video someone right clicked and it gave option to add effects via audition- i havent fired up premiere yet to test it out since im still watching vids but thx for reply!
If I was filming a dialogue scene between two actors or more using F2s would I have to worry about any issues?
That's actually what the bluetooth one is great for. If you get something like the Ultrasync Blue you can timecode sync your F2's and camera. If not you just need to sync them up in post.
how long until 48-bit Float?
There's definitely some crazy things in the world of pro audio, but I feel that's in the realm of hifi music rather than some RUclipsr babbling on about nonsense, lol.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo 1024-bit Float quantum but maybe the world won't last long enough for that to happen
@@AdultsHaveToysToo MKE600 battery powered Professional mic with the Zoom F2-BT should be amazing? Can't use an MKH416 because that req. +48V Phantom. MKE600 is 126dB on battery and 132dB on Phantom. MKH416 is 130dB but is not battery powered. Everyone is using a boom mic that is 3.5mm with no Phantom requirements meaning the quality is always going to be Less. It's amazing people haven't tried this combination yet. My stuff is all coming in. Originally I was going to just use the Sony UX570 to record in 16-bit fixed 44KHz Linear PCM but then saw how it's possible to bring back clipped and quiet audio rather than having the messed up sound forever.
