Thank you I always struggle how many stitches to start with… your tutorial was bang on!! Trying to make a quick blanket for my friends baby
This is the best tutorial I've seen and I love how you just get right to the knitting. Thank you for posting this!!!
Great instruction, and easy to make. Knits up in a heartbeat.
Thank you for tutorial you made it look so easy
Thanks so much, I needed a quick easy project and you gave me just that only added some amazing tips that I can use over and over again. Kisses to you 😘😘😘
I love that yarn - dying to make a blanket with it soon.... maybe a Christmas present to myself??
Must try this trying to work out how to print it 😊
Mam ur too good. Thanks
Thank you, Kristen, for providing clear, detailed explanation. As a beginner, I appreciate your teaching style. I have a question: Would you please explain how this pattern can be used to knit the baby blanket using just one color yarn? I have purchased 3 skeins of 10.5 oz Bernat Baby Blanket multi-colored yarn. Alternately, please provide a link to a different (beginner level) pattern for a baby blanket. Thanks in advance.
Hi! We’re you able to do this with one color, one skein?
After the 57 stitches what then? This is my first knitting project. I’m doing it with one color. I’m so confused because 57 seem too short for the length of the blanket.
Add more if you like. I had one with 160 for my new born grand baby.
Thank you I did actually decide to do that. 😊 Thanks!
@jo Martínez
Elly Luquen how many more did you add on? I felt it was too shirt too.
57 stitches is not too short and I can tell you this because I’ve actually don’t the 57 stitches and continued to go forth with the rows and it’s quite a big blanket
Would I be able to use number 5 bernat pipsqueak yarn without making a big difference in the size of the baby blanket?
Amber Beck I think so
Love this. Thanks
You're welcome, glad to help!
Great work ....can you plz tell how to do this blanket with loom or with hook needle
zainab rasheed I’m so sorry to reply so late. However I ended up making a loom knit version. I also have a crochet blanket that is similar you could use if you like. Here are links to both.

@@GoodKnitKisses thank you soo much beautifull .....always a joy to see you and your work ❤
How would you make this blanket on a loom and what would be the pattern to it?
Thank you have a wonderful day
I have tried the long tail cast on with this yarn and have found that no matter how big of a needle I use to cast on with it keeps pulling into a cup shape - like the cast on stitches are really tight. Have you got any suggestions for remedying this?
Would i be okay just using classic knitting needles instead of the ones connected like yours ??
yunggunner as long as you can fit all of the stitches on one needle at a time then yes. However these stitches are very bulky. You would need to crowd them on the needle. If you set your work down be sure you have point protectors to keep the stitches from falling off. However if you decide to make the blanket wider it will be harder to keep them on one needle. A circular needle like I’m using is still used like straight needles here though since we are still turning the work and not knitting in the round. I have seen people use two circular needles with a point protector on one end only to get a really long “straight” needle. You could do that if your longest needle isn’t long enough.
My blanket is looking shorter than the picture above. What am I doing wrong?
Mine too I had to redo knit I was short a few stitches
❤️❤️
Can you make this blanket just with one color ??
Laporscha Mcgavock sure! 😁
Would I need to block this once I'm done?
Ive been pondering about leaning to knit. Ive been crocheting for a long time now I’ve been wanting to learn kitting. But everyone i talk to says its harder
I can knit easily but I cant figure out crochet because it has like 3 threads in each bubble and it's hard for me to figure out. So, to me crochet is harder.
I’m the complete opposite. Can’t seem to grasp crocheting.
would you not get the same results making this on a straight needle. whats the advantage of working with circular needleds
MrGrey1997 just easier to hold the stitches. Get them longer.
You can hold a much bigger piece of fabric on circular needles than on a pair of straight needles due to the length of circulars you can get. The stitches won't be longer, the fabric will be wider.
Straight needle would feel much heavier and more bulky to work with, even though it isn't. I'm grown up with circular needle, so to me it is ordinary, but when I brought my knitting to the USA they looked at me as I was something veeeeery strange and really almost ready for the funny farm😁. Thank goodness times change..........
What is easier or better with the result knitting 🧶 or crocheting?? I crochet but I’ve always wanted to knit. I feel the patterns are better. Idk maybe it’s what I think. Anyone pls share your opinion pls. Thank you!
Elly Luquen I learned to crochet when I was younger. I still can not get an even blanket. So I started knitting. It comes out so much better. It just takes a lot longer till make a project.
So how many stitches do I need for Baby blanket?
its a cast on of 57 sts for the blanket. The link to the downloadable pattern is in this blog post. www.goodknitkisses.com/wink-baby-blanket/
@@GoodKnitKisses thank you
What are the odds of us face timing because I really want to learn how to knit and you're the only woman on RUclips that has the yarn that I do. 😞
Somebody, anybody, PLEASE help me. Please reply: I've used the specified yarn and needles ( 8mm). I've had to rip it off repeatedly because with a cast on of 57 stitches it's barely 14.25 inches. I'm just wondering where I'm going wrong. It seems as though approximately 160 stitches are required to get 33" width!!! How is it that the pattern states to cast 57 stitches for a width of 33 inches??!!
I’m are you sure you aren’t using a US 8 needle that is a 5mm? The yarn specified gets 2 sts to the inch and you are getting 4 sts to the inch so you’d need 133 stitches to get 33. I agree, something is wrong.
In the pattern the instructions state you need US 11 (8mm) needles OR size needed to obtain gauge. You need to make sure the needles are right for the project. I’m fairly certain that your tension is twice too tight. It should be the needle size should go up or you have the wrong one in hand by mistake.
GoodKnitKisses Thank you for replying. However, the circular needles I'm using are Addi Turbo US size 11 (8mm). The yarn I am using is 100% Polyester 10.5 oz/300g 220 yds Bernat Baby Blanket Super Bulky 6. My stitches are moving up and down the needle very smoothly. They don't seem tight at all. PLEASE do respond.
@@SC-ds1gc Same, I am doing 133 instead, 37 stitches blanket is tiny!
What size of needle is being used? Thank you!
Jessica Repstock US11 (8mm). I do include that in the beginning of the video and also in the link in the description. More info can be found there :)
Casting on 57 stitches doesnt seem like it would come out to be 33in blanket...
I totally agree with you. I've used the specified yarn and needles ( 8mm). I've had to rip it off repeatedly. I'm just wondering where I'm going wrong. It seems as though at least 132 stitches are required to get 33" width!!!
Is 57 enough? I feel like it wouldn’t be enough.
Kristen, will You be able to convert this to a loom? I so can't knit, with only one working hand, I'm disabled and i can't hold two needles.
Hopefully Kristen will clarify, but I think to convert regular knitting to loom knitting, you have to change every 'wrong side' row to the opposite stitch. So instead of knitting every row, you would purl the wrong side rows on the loom. This is because on regular needles you physically turn the needles at the end of the row, but on the loom your always working on the same side. It also helps when converting patterns, to actually rewrite the pattern before you start (cross out the knits on wrong side, and write purl) just because it can get confusing otherwise.
thank You Becdiggity, I will do that.
Juanita were you able to convert?
Am I the only one who has noticed that Nernst baby blanket is exactly like Bernat blanket. There is no diffreerence in the texture.
I have noticed the same. I think the "baby" has something to do with the softer colours that are more "baby"-like. A marketing thing I think.
Hello. I love this blanket and I'm waiting for my grand daughter to be born so I want to make it. If I got it right, I'd need 600 grams of yarn if I use only colour? Thank you and God bless.
if I get it right, you need 160m for contrastA and 160 for contrastB
if you use only colour 600grams would be enough
@@yxxl9 Thank you for replying.
Be safe.
@@valiakikkidou9834 you too ❤️
gud😗💚😍👍
Present to myself
After making the first 57 I just cannot grasp what you’re doing. I’ve watched 3 other videos doing the same thing as you and my stuff just falls apart. It’s not working
The first 57? Do you mean casting on?
Here is a different cast on that may help you. ruclips.net/video/nWJQvsZ6kT0/видео.html
GoodKnitKisses yes! 😭😭 I’m struggling so bad with this! Could I be using too thin of yarn?
Brooke Williams it could be that or your needles too big for the yarn size you are using. One thing I learned when I started is that I had to be patient for the first several rows to come in, especially if you are a loose knitter, because it can look super loose on the cast on and row 1 at first. That is especially true if your needles are too big for that yarn. Be sure to check the needle gauge listed on the yarn label. If you are a loose knitter you may need to go down a needle size and if a tight knitter you may need to go up a needle size.
Knitting just seems so complicated
