- I decided to record the Death album 'The Sound of Perseverance' from start to finish. I recorded both Rhythm and Lead guitars, Left and Right and everything in-between. This is a video of me playing one of my fave albums as a personal tribute to Chuck Schuldiner. I learned the majority of this album by ear, I picked up a few riffs from watching Death videos and other RUclips related madness. I am a self taught guitarist so I do apologise for any slight discrepancies. R.I.P Chuck your music will long out live our lives and more!!

Hello there, I started learning the album from track one to the end. Some songs proved harder than others but I fucked around with this one a fews years ago so it came quicker to me. Its hard to put a time frame on it really, I just keep listening until I got it to a level that I was happy with, but I find playing the album from start to finish really helps me keep my guitar "chops" in shape and the songs play well together.

Thanks man! This is one of my favorite albums, and I just started playing the guitar because of Chuck's work. I've been playing for a few months now, and my goal is to be able to play this album like you did. I found some of the riffs in this fairly easy to learn and play correctly, but most of the song id really difficult.. especially the solo. Ive learned how to play other Death songs though like "The Philosopher" without the solo.

hi there, I'm not a guitar teacher but I found that learning certain techniques and improving on them really helped me, before I even looked at learning any Death songs I had to learn the basics first, strumming patterns , string skipping , alternate picking etc, I would start there, hope that helps.

anyone ever feel limited when playing other people's music? I do and I find it easy to create my own and get so motivated when working on a piece that comes from within me. others music just inspires me I don't let it take over my style or else I would sound like every Joe.

Sick, thanks Steve! I can play some tracks off of Symbolic, and i also got down Spirit Crusher without the solo! I'm learning a few songs off of Spiritual healing right now. Im loving the riffs weaved into the masterpieces of that album (: This is my skateboarding channel, but im going to make a channel for my guitar videos soon so i can get some feedback.
The part from 4:14 is BADASS! Sounds like we're all doomed and in hell and we've lost hope.
Oh, and Spiritual healing I think is the easiest album to learn so check it out before trying more difficult albums like symbolic and sound of preseverance..! \m/

Hey man, I can't play as well as this dude can, but I have to tell you that if you chose to learn songs like this without learning easier first, it will be really hard for you, but it may be efficient . I played easier songs before trying to learn The sound of Preseverence songs.. I would advice you to learn some songs from symbolic first because the sound of preseverance is more technical and difficult. Play Symbolic, crystal moyntain, 1,000 eyes and then jumb to the difficult stuff! Steve..
