- Today I am excited to share my mom's house at Christmas and her beautiful 17th Century decor! I visited her over Thanksgiving, and shared a few photos of her home on my Instagram stories, and so many of you begged to see her house all decorated for the holidays. Your decorating genius is generational. Once again Andrea you and your Mother have such originality. I love the fireplace and the cradle near by it. Fruit and flowers everywhere created a warmth and welcome. I wanted to draw up a chair and gaze at this creation. Thank you.

O my... I am a 50+ year old 17th Century reenactors and tailors from Germany. This is by far the most beautiful home tour I've ever seen ❤️ I will share this video in many 17th century groups. Happy holidays and God bless you🙏😇🎄

It's interesting how the 1700s (18th Century) integrated the current day amenities.
13:13 would love to know what this black wall piece is. Is it a single rack or separate pieces hung together? I'm guessing it's wood?
My husband made this after I showed him a picture of one in Early American Life magazine years ago. It’s actually a plate shelf made out of antique wood. All one piece. The bathroom it’s in used to be my sons bedroom. I thought the wall needed a touch of early, so I chose to put it there. I usually have linens on it. 😊

Is the house old too or just the decor? It’s exquisite, but I hope she has some rooms with comfier furniture 😉.
It was built in the late 1800’s. Definitely not the period of the interior. We do have a recliner couch in the room that had the fireplace on the TV 🥰 My husband also has a nice comfy recliner in his office.

Lovely! I'm curious what prompted her interest in this era. It's unusual to find such a purist.
My parents always decorated early. They’re style was primitive Queen Anne. I have always loved antiques and more importantly, history. I was collecting when I was in college. I went from primitive country to 18th century and then I sawScarlet Letter, The Crucible and pictures of Plimoth Plantation and I was in love. The history of our nation and the pilgrims inspired me deeply. I was hooked. 😊 it took a long time, but I just love it!

Your Mom's antique collection is amazing. I would love to hear how she collected everything. It is incredibly done to represent early America. I think you meant 1700's not 17th century [1600's] as the US [not a country yet] census for 1650 was only about 26,000 people and they did not have interiors like that. Most lived in log cabins with dirt roofs or less.
Andrea was correct in saying my home is furnished in 17th century/pilgrim style. The 1600’s. Although not in MI, many homes on the east coast were decorated just like this in the 1600’s. 😊

I love the look in the feel of this home. It’s very unique, and and one of a kind in today’s world. My question is in this main room where there is the tree and the dining table. Is there a room that’s also a living space with a couch or chairs other than the wood furniture I see? How did she work that out? Also, I may have missed it. Did they opt out of having a television? Just curious. It’s very charming:)
If you watch again you will see another room with a bed. The television is in this room. We have a fireplace playing on it. There is a reclining couch across from the TV 😊
So neat! I'd love to know what is your Mom's most prized 17th century antique? Also, if she hasn't already she should visit Plymouth, Jamestown Settlement, and Nye Homestead.
That’s a hard one! I love so many. I have a few special pieces that came from the estate of my dear friend who passed away. One is my little sword chest. Knowing it used to be hers makes it precious. I have visited Plimoth Plantation and Jamestown. Plimoth is my absolute favorite. I have never been to Nye. 😊
