Boy's Basement Reveal! | Our Christmas Surprise!

- Although we aren't completely finished with our DIY basement renovation, we waited for Christmas morning for our boy's basement reveal! We've been keeping this a secret as best as we could, hiding decor and toys until the last minute! If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, it's no longer a huge surprise to you, but I wanted to just share a quick video tour of the area with a few more details!
We are so happy with how everything came together and eventually I am excited to share a more detailed video and blog post of the space that hopefully will come soon! I hope you enjoy friends and I hope you each had an amazing holiday!

This video brought me to tears. So much love in this home. Great parents, great family. All things are possible with God.
Hi Andrea! More than a beautiful basement, your children are learning about hard work, perseverance and the love that you and Mike have for them. I was about your oldest son’s age and I remember my father getting up at 3 in the morning to go into a part time job before he went to his full time job. He would look in on my sister and I before he left for work and I would feel so sorry for him that he had to get out of a warm bed and go to work. I have his same work ethic (and my mothers’s too as she worked hard at home making sure we were always fed good meals, had clean clothes, etc). Their combined work ethic, their faith, and their love for me and our home all shaped my life for the better in so many ways.
Oh, those smiles--makes it all worth it, doesn't it ?!! Your boys have not had all this space their whole lives. To have it now is SO impactful for them. Allows them to appreciate their parents and their home in a huge way. They also seeing in action the value of hard work and tenacity, as well as their parents' generosity.

That is so beautiful, even more so for the boys to see and receive the gift their father and mom put into a space for them that allows them to just be boys.
I love the way you are able to savor and appreciate each improvement in your house along with your children. Many times, as we age and can afford more space and other expenditures, our children have grown up.

I completely understand your bitter sweet feelings. 15 yrs ago we moved our family of 7 , at the time, from. 3 bedroom house to a 4 bedroom house with a playroom. I was so happy for us to have more space because we desperately needed it. But it was so strange to have the kids playing in another part of the house. I get it , I really do. I still get nostalgic for that period of time in my life. When all my kids were little. 🥰
I get teary eye just listening to you , such a happy mommy and the children and the gem of a hubby …may god continue to give you blessings , for this is how he enjoys seeing a family …bless you all 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️

We finished off a basement about 15 years ago when our kids were young but a bit older than yours. They had their space, and it was worth every dime we put into it. We still use it.
First of all, it’s beautiful! Secondly, it always impresses me as to how humble you are. Your gratitude for the simple things in life is infectious! I always smile when I watch your videos.

Okay I’m crying! That will be wonderful childhood memories and as the years pass and they go into the teen years hopefully it will be where all their friends will want to hang out too!

Your basement turned out beautiful. When my siblings and I was little my dad finished our basement for us as a playroom. We wore out three record players pretending to be in an air band. As we grew up, we had a foosball table and an air hockey table. Then when I was about 16 my dad made my bedroom out of half that space and the other half was a lounge space for us with a couch, chair and a tv. So, your finished space with now grow with your family. Those smiles on those cute little faces were so cute. This will be a Christmas they will remember for a long time to come
Girl, I don't even live there and I'm crying! I'm so happy for you all! Your husband is one in a million. My Daddy was just like him - he could build a house from the ground up. I married a non-handyman musician so it's been a rough transition for the last 31 years. haha!!!! But I am happy for you.

I just think you're the best. To see you get choked up about the work that you and your husband put in for the basement means everything because you're doing it for your kids and it's just so wonderful to see. I think you're wonderful I think you're the best I love your sweetness and that you are so vulnerable and touched by what you created. We would cry when the real tree had to come down then my Mom & Dad bought a big artificial tree with a music box attached and that stopped the crying for the next few years.

What a heart warming story, there is nothing like Happy little children smile over something that's so simple that is what life's all about! Just like my family says it's not what's under the tree it's what's around it!! My hubs has finished two basements locally for our sons' families and, just like you find the space invaluable! Best part is how functional it will be, even as your boys age! I loved the bathroom Hubby put in our basement - best shower in the house, when our three were young ☺.
When working midnights, I'd sleep in our finished basement,too- very quiet and cool in warm weather, cozy in cold months. Perfect! SO Big Congrats to Mike and you for a job well done!! Happy 2023!!! 🤗🤗🤗♥

You did such an awesome job! I teared up with you watching the transformation. There're creative ways to expand real estate inside the existing home. I look up to the high ceiling in my living space and fancy having an open loft for an indoor garden. It will be a fun spot to read a book, have some snack while soft music and fairy lighting soothe me to the core. Designing a staircase will be challenging but it's totally doable.
How beautiful great job mom and dad this will be one of the best things you've ever done for the children and yourselves you can never have enough space when you're growing in beautiful family ✝️🤍

Well this made me cry. How wonderful and what memories you made for your boys. How blessed you are to have such a hard working husband. I could share how Lord provided a new home for one of my daughters and wonderful son in law. He too works like your husband and remodels and does amazing work. The Lord worked it out so they could purchase a $500,000 home. Never looking for that price range. Between making money on their previous home and the owner coming way down on the price they were able to purchase this home. They have my so in laws big family over for Thanksgiving dinner and have a heated garage and set up tables there. It was perfect. They love having people in and the Lird blessed and provided that for them. My three granddaughters each have their own room they decorated beautifulky for Christmas. They added beams in the living room and kitchen and redid the fireplace and painted and the house looked like a magazine and my daughter decorated everything beautifully for Christmas. God blesses hard work and trying to make our homes lovely for our families and for others. You are such a blessing. Love your family and loved this wonderful testimony you shared. The basement looks fantastic. Love your home. Happy New Year!
