    Love the video! Quick question - two of my swords already have the sageo cords, but the third doesn't have the kurigata like they do. Is there a way to have the cord on the saya even without the kurigata? I'm hesitant to try to add one since I could really damage the saya (it's made of plastic & the sword is wood, it's for cosplay purposes)? Thanks!

      Glad you like the video! If you mean a traditional way no, if you mean any way at all than you could tie a clove hitch. I've also seen a variation of the cho-musubi (butterfly knot) that can be used as well if you prefer that knot.

    How do you tie the sageo to the hole in the saya?

      Here's an entire playlist of videos I've done on sageo knots. Some of them are kinda old and back from when I didn't have as good a camera as I have now so I'll be redoing those videos later this year. I'm also going to show some new sageo knots this year as well.

    It looks like there are some initial knota or a wrap around at 0:46?
    Though what i have is the e bogu plastic saya for a bokken and it was undone. Is that way only for a katana?

    • @StudentOfWarCustoms
      @StudentOfWarCustoms  3 года назад

      Not really. To my knowledge there aren't really any knots that are exclusive to katana. The only exception would be maybe if the sageo just wasn't long enough to be exactly like on a katana but they can be adapted to work.

      @@StudentOfWarCustoms hmmm well i am not an expert but my sageo does not feel like a real one so I dont know if thats the reason why IM having a hard time

      Ok. Ya the really thin sageo are harder to tie knots with, you can do it but they are so flimsy they make some knots impossible

      @@StudentOfWarCustoms Do you have a tutorial on how to put a brand new sageo through a scabbards kurikata? Ive seen other vids where they use paper but was curious if you had any alternative ways.
      Also the cho musubi knot is really beautiful lol

    How long should the Sageo be to begin with ? what if any is the proper length ?

    • @StudentOfWarCustoms
      @StudentOfWarCustoms  6 месяцев назад

      If you mean how much on each end the sageo should be in half. If you're asking how long a katana length sageo should be I say 6'-7'.

    Where do you get your sageo cords?

    • @StudentOfWarCustoms
      @StudentOfWarCustoms  3 года назад

      Really depends. The brown and gold one I show in videos is a silk one that was give to me but it's from sword store, the scarlet red sageo is one was made for me by a friend years ago. Some of my sageo are Japanese cotton sageo from Yamato budogu and some like my solid colored ones are usually cotton sageo from nihonzashi.
