The uniquely powerful thing about music is that it doesn’t matter if this song came out during your senior year of high school, or came out 30 years before you were ever born, it can still speak to you. This song always makes me feel like summers back in high school. Great great song.

This is my favourite KISS song and love how the girl is in the dark as Paul passes her ... haunting idea. Gee they were big there for a while. Iconic.

Not only his voice - his songwriting skills on this are excellent - the construction of the song is just dynamite; such a breezy departure from a regular rock song - plus, he played all guitars, so those solos you are hearing are all Mr. Paulus Maximus Stanley.
Imagine how much better this song would have been if Peter sang it.

I've loved this band for 50 years. Through all of the highs and lows, they ALWAYS had my ear. I'm so glad they never made the same album over and over. This is a fantastic song, by a group with one of the BEST singers, and songwriters in Rock and Roll!

Its a great pop song with excellent lead guitar licks that were instantly recognizable as NOT played by Ace Spaceman Frehley ! The irony here too is that they're singing goodnight to Shandi but in reality they saying Goodbye to Peter Criss because with the completion of filming this video His tenure with the Band was over ..until the reunion tours of course.

This was and………………… still a treasure. I remember a friend that had this cassette Unmasked album. I love this KISS period (1979-1983) many people missed.
For me was the best
Never got into this song when I was a kid and I was/still a huge KISS fan. But recently, I realized that it was the story of a girl that I was seeing, wasn't into who she was and stopped seeing her after a few months. I never wanted to get married. About 5 years down the line, I connected with her again. She is now my wife. 🤘😍

This is a generic disco song. There were dozens of songs that sounded like it and used the same chords.
First time I heard this song was on the KISS Symphony Alive IV album and I've been a fan of this song ever since.

Peter's departure was my introduction to the Bandand Kiss and that era from 79 ,80 to 85 when Bruce came was great but the turbulent kinda down period with Vinnie and Eric the Unmasked era was amazing love it love love it its like the first stuff u hear remains ver yspecial memory's

Shandi was always KISS' most popular song here in Australia, hence its spot as the final song in the encore on the Aussie leg of the End Of The Road tour. Last ever KISS song played by the band in Sydney on Saturday 7 October 2023.

"It's a shitty album," Gene Simmons remarked of Unmasked in 1993. "I'd be ashamed to play it for [my mother] or anybody else!" "My least favourite Kiss albums are probably the disco-era ones - probably Unmasked," he said in 2004. "I took my eye off the ball and started to trust producers."

My 6th grade teacher was named Shandi Richardson and the entire class would sing this song to her all the time. She got mad after a few weeks and told us to stop. We didn't and she complained to the principal. He had to come in our classroom one day and tell us that we better stop or we'd all be punished. When he left, somebody started humming the song and she picked up her chair and threw it at us!
UPDATE: My best friend from back then ran into Shandy at the Minneapolis airport in 2024. He asked her about this incident and she said she didn’t remember. He said that it was obvious she was lying and knew exactly what he was talking about!
