the gun of centurions were better in term of range, and the isreali gunners were much better trainned on hitting target at long distance , beyound 2 km, while the syrian lacked this training, also the syrians officers did not manouever enough, they were standing like sitting duck waiting their turn to be shut.
however on top of all that, if the syrian south flank have advanced further when they had a clear chance in the first days of the war , and occupied the galilee bridges, they would have parctically won the war , but they committed a huge mistake to halt their push

TC at 3:00-3:23 sniper target. Or crushed if the vehicle rolls. Never understood why TC's stood so high out of the turret. During this conflict the Israelis lost more TC's than in previous battles mainly to artillery and air staffing. In the Golan Heights others were killed by snipers but that was low.

@@user-ub2iy2fp9v Israel didn't lose( if they had lost israel wouldn't exist anymore) + egypt captured parts of sinai but they wanted to control all of Sinai which they didn't manage to. Also Syria completely failed and gave more territory to Israel.
I used my periscope. Taught never to stand high in hatch. M-113 especially. M60 had cupola to protect TCs.
On the other hand, we won very decisive tank battles because we could charge into Syrian tank formations and because their hatches were closed, they didn't know what was going on around them. Snipers were less prevalent back then on the battlefield than they are now. Yes, artillery was an issue

God bless Israel! My brave grandpa fought this war and died a year later from an undetectable bowel disease. May he rest in peace.

I didn't witness that war, but I knew that Israel had threatened to bomb Egyptian army with nuclear weapons to halt thier advancements, Israeli army almost collapsed those days.They lost 3000 soldiers on few days !!! .

The Israeli tanks were British (The centurions) as for the soviet tanks that the Syrians had they were better in every possible way gun, armor, speed, optics and night vision. As the Israeli soldier said good tanks bad soldiers. May Israeli soldiers also rest in peace. Am Yisrael Chai.

Syrians had no air superiority and old Soviet made tank( the only good think about them was the night vision technology) but despite this they still fought hard and broke though the Israelis lines. Liberation parts of the golan heights before being overwhelmed by the arrival of hundreds of Israelis tanks an the airforce.

@@germanicus7958 Syrian had complete air superiority and artillery support over Israel during the starting stages of the war and they had anti air umbrellas against the Israeli Airforce which did not allow it to provide support to Israeli ground army. Syrian tanks were brand new when they got them and the models of their tanks were newer than the Israeli Centurion tanks, Super Sherman tanks and M48 Patton tanks.
The only reason Syria got through Israeli lines was because Syria attacked during the holiday of Kippur when the Jews were at their homes fasting.
Once full mobilization fully began the Syrian army was quickly crumbled to the point that Israel was firing artillery at Damascus and Syria couldn't do anything about that.
And there was no point in time when Israel outnumbered Syria on the ground but there are plenty of times where Israel despite being outnumbered 5 to 1 (100 Israeli tanks and 500 Syrian tanks) managed to inflict heavy casualties on the Syrians read about the valley of tears as an example.
Despite all of the advantages the Syrians had over Israel due to bad training and awful tactics Syria lost quickly and suffered heavy casualties.
Why not upload a video for Egypt crashing bar lev line and give you hard lesson that make you go and cry to USA to make a peace with Egypt , now upload video for poor Syrian solders lol

This was during the early stages of the war when Israel was losing. In the end it won. These soldiers are on the Golan Heights, and at the end of the war the IDF was deep in Syria threatening Damascus.
