    Followed the steps in this video and was able to successfully replace the awning on my camper! Thank you so much for posting this. I took my time and was thoughtful about each step and it took about 2 hours start to finish.

    Thanks for sharing. at 4:13 that freaked me out when you were talking and yet the hand in the video had a nice big wedding ring and beautiful fingernails with flowers on them, lol..... I quickly realized it was your wife's hand, lol..... Good video, Thanks

    Ok, project done! Your video gave us the confidence to do this. We lost track of time but it was about 2 hours start to finish. Turned out perfect first time. So glad we didn’t pay someone to do it for us.

    That left top arm looked like it was bending a bit. Thank you for the video!

    Great video but you jumped a few steps I needed to see. such as any lube points in and around the motor and what screws you used to replace the pop rivets

    What screws did you use to replace the rivets?

      I have the same question. Good video, but he didn't mention that change.

      @@gskayak1/8” x 3/16” rivet. Also, use a 3/16” bit to drill out the old rivet. The key for me was how far to roll out the awning to be able to pin the spring hole. Other videos mention to pin the spring, but not how tricky it is to find the right position to be able to insert a pick.

    What happens if your spring comes unwound? How can one fix that? That’s what happened to me. I have no idea how to repair the awning now.

    at the end, how did you fix the misalignment issue?

  • @bravehauser5215
    @bravehauser5215 Год назад

    On the original fabric, it appears you have a patch. Our awning has a tear in the same location. Have to remove the awning attached to the RV as the screws have popped out and we have to patch/repair the holes before it rains, but also have a tear/rip that we were going to tape up. Could you share the patch kit/tape that you used before you replaced the entire fabric?

      Hey Brave, I am not sure if the patch since this is a used RV

    Right at the end you mentioned a misalignment on the rear support. I’m having that issue and wondering your thoughts or solution.

      Did you ever figure this out? I am having the same issue.

    • @k5kensails

      @@garyschade7978 I have not. I am thinking it's either a slow motor or that the awning cover is misaligned. If that's the case the awning cover needs to be taken off and reinstalled, otherwise I'm putting a new motor in that side of the awning. Neither is a cheap fix.

      I think you take the screw out that’s on the gutter and pull the awning in the direction that would correct the alignment then reinstall the screw. It doesn’t have to move very far maybe 1/2 inch. I’m pretty sure that will fix it I’ve been there before.

      @k5kensails It's a simple alignment of the fabric. Remove the screw that attaches the awning to the trailer and move the fabric a little in one direction or the other, until the arms line up.
