  • Susan and Mark move to a seaside town to buy an old house and open an inn. They came to look at one house, but Susan is inexplicably drawn to another. The house is high on a cliff overlooking a lonely beach. Something eerie is going on. A scary black dog appears. One strange guest stays at the inn. Susan finds letters in the attic written long ago by a wife who was terrified of something. What happened then is happening again now!

Jeez man, don’t let a strange woman from a deserted beach rent a room who takes her clothes off and doesn’t have anything like a purse or even an overnight bag, doesn’t seem to eat, makes out with you while you’re trying to get your wife to trust you again and then disappears into a giant wave. Just don’t do it, man.

Your comment has really touched me, i am also very often at home nowadays due to some family issues and i was just reflecting on once you become an adult you pretty much get to understand life so much better than when you were a kid i.e your boss doesn't care about you all he wants is for you to make him rich, your next of kin don't care about you just provide for us, your relatives don't care about you they just want to watch you fail and all of your friends are gone by the time you clock 40 truly no one cares about you which means that you are all alone in this life, people today have become heartless, soulless, selfish and greedy animals who think of nothing else but themselves thanks 40 for the perfect vision.

I can't imagine how IMDB only gives this film a 5.0. It was quite good. No over acting, all characters seem like normal people.....not actors. Beautiful scenery. Probably the scariest dog I've ever seen on film. This movie deserves at least a 7.5, in my opinion. Thanks for posting this gem, TVTERRORLAND.

The exteriors of the movie were filmed at the Camarillo Ranch Estate in Semi Valley, Calif. The gorgeous Queen Anne Victorian home and grounds are on the historic register and are used for events. The home was also used in the movie "The Two Lives of Jenny Logan" starring Lindsay Wagner and has been featured in at least one real estate commercial.

I was woken up this morning by my son who said that the phone downstairs is ringing and ringing. So I thanked him and I picked up the hand set by my bed( the ringer is turned off) and I dealt with the caller and had a very nice conversation.
Fell back to sleep and later went to thank my son for letting me know about this call. He was bewildered and said he just only got up.
After a long discussion we still don't know what had happened! He truly never told me about this call and I must admit that l thought there was something not right about the look of my son - his glasses were a bit different.
He doesn't walk in his sleep and where would he get this glasses from. They were hexagonal shape, gold!!
    I'm so confused.
The phone call was genuine and it's on my incoming calls. 😮

In real life, some people do acclimatize to hauntings. Years ago, I had lived in two actively haunted houses before. I have seen spirits in my 20 years of adult life. There's one particular ghost in my life. He oftentimes comes to my defence, whenever I'm in any spot of danger with harmful spirits, criminals, fire, etc. He never reveals his identity, never appears. He very rarely speaks, only if necessary. I once asked him why he'd been saving me, he told me I reminded him of his daughter.

I once rented a house in Willowbrook, Illinois. First night there, heavy footsteps coming up from the basement when I was the only one in the house. Terrifying. Yes, there was absolutely a ghost. After a while, I got used to the noise and practical jokes (locking doors that had no locks) and made the best of it. I called the ghost Fred. It was an old farmhouse and I'm guessing Fred was an old farmer.

atlantic1119 - New England's rocks gives shoreline a dangerous quality, especially in silhouette. When white water surges aganst it, it splashes back and up, looking wild and tempestuous. The hardness of rock gives it a fortress like effect that is simultaneously foreboding - as something inpenetrable.

This is the perfect kind of early 90s horror. Not gory just a good plot with supernatural elements. Good movie. I'm glad I found it. Her husband btw was a slimeball in this. Having already cheated, he puts himself in bad situations with another woman, only to cheat again (kissing the girl when she takes off her clothes). His wife (the outcast from The Breakfast Club) is too good for him in this movie. His condescending attitude is just bad news. I was once that guy. Never again. Still working on myself at 44.

I'm writing this from the view of a psychology major. It seems since she had a sixth sense about her ( the wife) she was more in tune with the going on about the house and she looked so much like the wife of the original owner is why the hauntings continued and the old women died so the new owner could move in.
The one thing that amazes me is the girl that had the room and on the stone of hers at the grave it said,"wolf". To bad noone every noticed that. Good movie and mystery.

I think 'Haunting of Seacliff Inn' is a pretty decent film. Some quite chilling moments; namely when Lorraine was lured upstairs by the sound of the radios seemingly switching themselves on, Susan sitting alone in the firelight and 'something' seeming to come up behind her and, most scary for me; the dog appearing on the beach.
Sadly, it is rather difficult to find on dvd. I assume this is because it was made only for TV.

There was no apparent reason, the house being built in the 50's, nobody ever dying there... after my adolescence, it all seemed to stop, and during my twenties I never felt any phenomena anywhere. At 30, when I got my first home, things started happening again. I'm now convinced I was haunted, not the homes.
