They work out of the box within a year of launch. After that you're on your own, unless you pay more money for an extended warranty to continue working properly.
You are absolutely correct about the Dell. As a previous Dell xps 13 plus owner, I definitely do not recommend it at all! I had the xps 13 plus with i7-1260p, OLED 3.5k, and 16gb ram. The battery life is terrible with only 3-5 hours of usage before it dies out. The fans are running so loud consistently like a jey engine. The Dell xps would lag randomly due to overheating issues. I ended returning it about daily using for nearly a month with about 7 usage per day. I ended getting the Lenovo yo 9i with a 2.8k OLED 90hz screen, 16gb ram, i7-1260p. The Lenovo 9i lasted about 8-9hours of daily usage and it is so quiet while doing heavy workload. The Lenovo yoga 9i also doesn't lag like the xps 13 plus. I highly recommend the Lenovo yoga 9i with the 2.8k OLED. 💯 Avoid the 4k OLED model
What do you think of the regular Dell XPS 13 for an average user. Although it's not as crazy modern sleek looking I'm thinking about getting that one. I heard it doesn't get as hot and that its more user friendly. Battery life is longer. Do you think that's a good option? Let's say over a Dell inspiron 14? I'm kind of stuck with Dell those are my two options I'm looking at.
I'm one of the lucky ones that have not had any issues with their XPS, and I really love mine. It has a 4k screen, core i7 1065G7, 16/512 GB memory/storage. Paid ~$1300 after taxes back in 2020 for it. The XPS 13 Plus would be the natural upgrade, going by how watered down the 9315 is, but Dell would first need to bring back those ports, upgrade the webcam to at least a 1080p, and also make the display refresh at 90Hz minimum. If they can get this done by 2025, which is when I plan to upgrade my 9300, then I'll get an XPS Plus. If not, I'll be looking at Lenovo or Microsoft.

As a Windows user, I have had my eyes on Dell for a while in the thin-and-light category. Love the super sleek design. Still reluctant because of heat and some build quality issues I've noticed in the community. The webcam is still mediocre. There’s only negative reasons for soldering storage. Honestly at that point make the company legally accountable for data loss, since it’s grossly negligent.
Most sensible people backup on the fly, or at least daily. It is always worth doing as data lost on a removable SSD is just as bad as lost data on a soldered SSD.
@@andyH_England Just stop responding to me entirely, every single one of your comments is garbage, always. Yes the CPU dying and not being able to get your data off a otherwise perfectly working drive thanks to it being soldered on is just as bad as removable storage, yes. You must have been incredibly bright when you were a kid.
@@owlmostdead9492 Last from me. If you have data that you cannot afford to lose, and you do not back it up, then, sorry, that is down to you and not sensible. If that is something you find objectionable (why?), then buy a laptop with a removable drive! This is not the 1990s; tech has moved on, and a sensible backup for important data is essential. Just try and sue an OEM because you did not back your data up; the Judge will laugh you out of court!
@@andyH_England I hope you'll lose data but that's impossible because you have a realtime backup of everything, every second live backup right? An HDD doesn't die immediately, an SSD doesn't die immediately, they even have health percentages. Do you know what doesn't have health percentages and does die immediately? A CPU, RAM, Mainboards generally.
@@owlmostdead9492 I have run a business for 30+ years and I use backup systems that are on the fly and that includes having two computers with the same data on, so even if one machine has issues, I do not have to stop my work. As for “CPU, RAM and Mother Boards” since I moved to Macs this has never happened, though I have had three Windows machines BSOD after a Windows update back in the day, and I just switched to my backup PC. Just recommending that anyone who reads these comments, that has data they cannot afford to lose, back it up, and then one problem solved. If you can, do what I do, when you upgrade your computer, keep the older one as a second machine for emergencies. I upgrade around every 3-4 years.

What's the point of track pad when bluetooth mouse is much more practical and ergonomic to operate. Also a way to reduce cost of the laptop!! Also why webcam cannot have a physical shutter for those of us who never use the camera. Especially me!! Why pay for parts that I never ever used just because it's "industrial standard"!!

So just wondering why when Apple had 720p web cams years ago the review wold was up in arms calling it a potato cam. Now in mid to late 2022 Dell, a company that makes a few computers for the most part gets a free pass from reviewers. Bias or something else? When I bought my 2019 MacBook Pro the tech review community was very upset about a 720 web cam, if this years Air had a 720 web cam it would be reviewed as a disaster.
@Shain Andrews And I and many others had to have Dell/Alienware laptops repaired due to issues with low voltage, loose touchpads, and now screens failing on the XPS 13 Plus. No laptop is perfect. But Dell is not looking promising when Best Buy had to temporarily pull all of their XPS 13 Plus laptops from sale due to failing screens, and in one case, a screen that fell off the laptop.

I dont think its a good idea to compare dell to apple, its nowhere near integrated. I have been using dell xps for the last 5 years and there are still other manufacturers in the windows outperfoms dell.
I'm absolutely lost on why a computer would have its main drive SOLDERED. What could possibly be advantageous of that beyond a few cents' cost saving at manufacture? The downside is so massive - namely, there's no way to upgrade/replace the drive, or worse, if the drive happened to fail, the computer is a total brick!

@@samuloflipsitup8314 yes extremely expensive laptops with extension ports that should be standard across all laptops.
So they can create an expensive dock
Hey there my friend it's been awhile I'm glad to see you again you are so amazing with your videos and the way you help with all these products through the years Happy Holidays love you always I pray the family is doing well I enjoyed this video it was wonderful
Are they better than the hp spectre in your opinion? I haven't really dug deep on these and I need a new laptop
Nope. HP Spectre is better in every way.
I would not mind extra thickness if it had two ram slots and an PCI4 ssd slot..
GREAT content, great video.
So the engineer managed to convince whichever corporate executive middle manager who thought having capacitive keys on a keyboard was a good idea and pulled a 180.
I am so confused
I don't know what to get.
Hi! Would it be better to get the XPS + with i5, 8gb or the 9315 i7, 16gb? Thanks
i7 16gb. easily.
Dell lost their way a bit with this launch. Frankly down in the 13" I'll stick with MBA.
I disagree with some of your other comments, but not this one.
Good move. The M1 model is much better in battery life and even performance than any Dell XPS 13.
Hello, I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, and love 💛all over the world, I would love us to be good friends in honesty and in trust if you don't mind. I'm Doctor Christopher Johnson from San Francisco, California, where are you from if I may ask?♥
Can I get an unboxing of Asus vivobook s14 2022 best value for money
I want the plus so bad! So beautiful! Maybe 2023...
You avoid issues by being prepared.
10 Bennie’s and they can’t throw in a headphone jack. I would like to hear what Michael Dell really thinks about this.
To get decent customer support, that's who you need to contact him. No joke, it was that bad!
As a vim user I stopped watching on hearing theres no escape key (no offence to Lisa).
Strange they haven't learnt from others' mistakes.
seem like dell made the xps 13 plus a worse version of the xps 13, then tried to upsell us on the plus by making the regular laptop worse. personally i prefer neither.
I’m seriously considering the Plus model to replace my Surface Laptop 2.
I don’t care much for ports, though I do care about the headphone jack (luckily the dongle comes in the box), so it isn’t much a dealbreaker for me. The only thing that worries me a bit is the capacitive buttons at the top.
Anyway, great thorough review as usual from Lisa!
I need ports and hate using them usb c expansion port things. Was thinking this but I think im gonna go with the surface laptop 4. The thing that sucks with all of thesse laptops is the m1 macbook air is still the superior laptop
@@MrElmostudios I ended up getting the SL4 too 😂
I love the Surface line design a bit too much, plus the extra ports (and 3.5mm jack) are more than enough for me.
Lisa comes through.
one of the reasons i nearly went for xpx 13 ws usb slot was sd cRD SLOT, NOW THATS GONE, I LOVE MY CHOICE A YOGA 9I FROM 2 YEARS AGO BUT EVEN NOW THEY NO LONGER HAVE A DOCKED PEN, id probably go for the spectre now, sad really that ell made a dongle laptop, i am guessing theyll sell alot less xpx and next year reverse a trent even apple changed as their customers hate dongles.
absolutely not happy with losing the ports, micro sd and 3.5 headphone, so prefer to shop for yesteryear's model. given the difference in keyboards, wouldn't it have made better marketing sense to leave the old ports on the xps13? make the new weird keyboard and dopey trackpad for the xps13+? these new versions have me looking at Microsoft Surface Pro 9, even though it doesn't appear to have 3.5, either. point being, now looking elsewhere for fulfillment. dumb marketing strategy.
Do their boots taste like apple?
If you gave me an XPS laptop for free, I would sell it to a sucker before it stopped working
great to see Dell still continuing to crap these out and incrementally making them worse with every generation! GREATJOB
no aux port equals heck no! why would someone buy a laptop without a headphone jack? unreal
This is not a drill. COOL.
They took the best Windows laptop and made two flawed devices out of it.
This comment I cannot agree more with! Whatever Dell did here, they failed.
NO FUNCTION KEY?!
Not for me. Either one.
Okay, I ❤ that shirt!! 😂
The new keyboard sucks. The dim changing functions is also a gimmick. Still has overheating issues
Better laptop: the Asus ROG Flow x13. It's better and it starts at $999 on sale. No reason to buy a Dell; it's worse in every way.
Son you really don't get it at all. Any given week I repair three Asus laptops.

This is Lisa with "what the heck with you!?"
Girl where is your Legion slim 7i review
@Dell still understand that people want PORTS. Maybe next year.
Crummy port selection, soldered on ram and ssd on the regular model, forget about it
I love her t-shirts. 😅
Lenovo > Dell
lol great review but at this point dell just missing the apple logo. still appreciate the windows MacBook pro
GREAT shirt
Got the normal xps 13 9315. What a disaster it's been. 2 months in it started working like a decade old HDD laptop running at 15 frames a second. Do get any relevant answers and support it's the customer that needs be behind their asses and grind out the answer. Returning it now
spend a bit more and get the xps15
No DVD cd burner cmonnn
I dont think its a good idea to compare dell to apple, its nowhere near integrated. I have been using dell xps for the last 5 years and there are still other manufacturers in the windows outperfoms dell.
under 400 nits..? that's a real downside
XpS minus
Very special laptop

What’s the Point of Displaying Information
on the Screen when you don’t give us
enough Time to Read ? 😅 Editor
Wow!!!!!!!!!!
So, no more carbon fiber..
