Why do I have this thought of riding that wagon all the way down. LOL 😂 It would definitely be a most thrilling and unique travel experience to have there in New Zealand. Just kidding. ✌️ Anyway, another great content to watch before sleeping. Can't wait for the next part. 🤗
😂 that sounds like it would be an excellent amusement park ride 🤔 hmmmm actually rainbows end has a ride called gold rush must have been created from a similar thought process 😂
Wow look at the shape of the Pancake Rocks! so cool guys. and mind blowing landscape as well...😍and the lamb and jesus beef rendang!!!! yum!!!! what a nice food after the beautiful walk...🚶♂️
Yeah those rocks be amazing to see, all you need is syrup, as someone commented as a joke! Haha! Impressed that the walkway is really good around the pancake rocks! I love it how you include so many facts about the location too! Super cool!
Such an awesome and unique spot! We were hoping to get the water shooting out but the waves weren't strong enough that day. Glad you enjoy the facts 🙂👍 we learn heaps too when researching for our places we visit 😁
Nothing like an electric blanket when it's cold. We can relate. Rain does affect recording. We can relate there too. Our last few trips have been raining most of the time. Love the name pancake rocks and the views at 4:11... Wow. Beautiful rock formations.
We really enjoy seeing all your Airbnbs. Modern family is awesome, we have watched it over and over, the entire show with all the seasons lol. Yen, you have a really nice sweater, and hope it keeps you warm all over "Peter Bird Watch Cam" hahahaha Rocks and birds, we are huge fans as well 😂😂 What an awesome Asian Fusion restaurant. Yen the beef rendang looks so tender and yummy. The tracks down there look rusty, I bet even back in the days it was kinda scary to go over there. Incredible views and nature everywhere. Thanks guys for showing another amazing place in NZ
Thanks guys! 💕💕 Yes same here!! Really love modern family and have watched it many times too. So sad it's over though but they had such a great run 🙂 Hahaha rocks and birds are awesome 😆👍👍 the food was so yum and yea the living conditions in Denniston sounded like they definitely were extremely challenging.. that track use to be the only way up and down!
Wooohooo this is the Pancake Rocks that I want to visit! The other time you brought us to Raglan pancake rocks. I guess there were two pancake rocks sites. Thanks Peter, Yen.🤗
Hahaha yes! Pancake 🥞 rocks 🪨 are so interesting, the pathway for this site was amazing as it incorporated the water and the rocks in such a stunning way 😍
So jealous 😫. My mum was born and bred on the West Coast, but I've barely been there ever. Once to Hokitika for the Wild Foods Festival and a couple of times over to visit friends when they lived in Reefton.
It was such an awesome trip, you'll have something to look forward to in the future Daryl. I'm jealous of you going to the wild did festival def want to attend that one day 😯👍
@@PeterandYen it's well worth it! Even going in the 2nd or 3rd year it ran, it was already huge. Until I get back there I can at least enjoy your adventures 😃👍
O nice 👌 glad you got to see this too Bert, we were really impressed with the trail especially since part of it cut through the actual limestone and there were interesting high points and low points. Who ever designed the route did an awesome job 👏
Ufff... It's breakfast time over here but would love to eat what you guys are having. That beef stew! I agree that going to those old mines give you a different perspective of what life used to be like back in the day. Those are HUGE wagons.
hi again now i can see that it must be a lot colder on the south island coz it is so rare to see peter not wearing shorts haha . still find your vids so fascinating and well produced . enjoyed it so much but so much missing my travels too. take care on your travels and iam waiting patiently for the next installment
Hahaha Barry the south island winter cannot be compared to the north island. It's way colder down there. Yen n I will be able to get the vaccine in August maybe so finally might be able to go overseas again 🤞
Those pancake rock formations look incredible!!! 😍 Wowww they took million years 🤯 It would be cool if the colour of the rocks is white or brown haha, so it looks like the real thing 😆
Oh yummm!! Indonesian food 😍😍 That nasi kuning (yellow turmeric rice) looks amazing. Good one to pair with lamb gulai and beef rendang. Classic combo 👌🏻
We went Pancake Rocks in December, now watching this episode can see what it looks like in Winter season. Love your videos. We spent a lot of time research a 2 weeks road trip itinerary for South Island, then also for North Island before we did our road trip NZ. Would you consider doing such an episode since you are NZ experts
🤔 I always think that's so difficult cause everyone is interested in such different things. I usually just look for everything that's interesting in an area and go to as many as possible 😂 how was the west coast in December?
Very tidy Airbnb! I love Modern Family, it's so easy to watch. Really good value for the price. Yen your skin looks so good! Cute, you guys see all the birds. Which Pancake rocks did you like more? Wow! It's so amazing how they were formed. That food looks so delish! I miss Indonesian food! Really interesting about the coal mines, must've been such a hard life back then. Seems like a great place to learn about some NZ history :)
@@PeterandYen yeah man, it’s a real awesome, magical spot. Out of everywhere I’ve been in New Zealand, thats my favourite place. When you go there… look for the way through the cliff face on the far end of the bay, past the large sea cave with the waterfall. There’s more bays to explore with more sea caves… and green stones to be found.
😯 Green stones that sounds super cool, yen bought a piece for me last year. Would be real cool to find one ourselves though. Thanks for sharing your local tips 👌
Thank you Peter for the explanation! I was about to google how the pancake rocks were made for some reason when I first saw them on your instagram I imagined a person stacking them 😅
I would say it's ok.. not super popular. Beef, pork and chicken def more staples. I think a lot of ppl don't like the gaminess. Also though there are a lot of sheep 🐑 somehow lamb meat is still relatively expensive.
It looks like you had a great day out and I'm glad you appreciated Denniston 🙂 is quite a drive to get up there, isn't it? I'm sure I read somewhere that the men used to come up and down that rail line in the wagons as well, it wasn't just the coal! Thanks for the shout out too! ❤️
Had an awesome day 😁👍 the drive was totally worth it, after going from Wellington back to Auckland in a day this was an easy route hahaha. Ah yes we read that too.. seeing things like this make us appreciate that the generations before us had life so much harder 😅 No worries for the shout out thank you for all the support over the years 😁❤
@@PeterandYen so glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, Wellington back to Auckland is a much worse drive than Punakaiki to Denniston, both quite scenic at points though 🙂 You're right there, we're very lucky with when we were born and that we don't have to live in those conditions, it must have been such a hard life. You're very welcome, I love your videos and it's so nice to be able to enjoy the content and contribute too 😊
Definitely blows everything out of the water 💦… wow… looked absolutely breathtaking (and glad there were places to take photos safely 📸😁). It never ceases to amaze me how you guys find awesome food in remote places… Indonesian food made my mouth water…even the rice with the ambiguous flavor😂.. “I’m sure there’s gotta be a flavor in there” - best food description ever😁😁😁. Great great vid! Looking forward to the next one! Safe travels guys! ps - was rooting for Peter to spot some🐬🥲
Hahahaha this was such a random find, the restaurant was attached to the owners home. Didn't know what to expect but the flavors of the beef and lamb were home cooking at its best. Reminded us a lot of the places in Bali 😁 yen appreciated that the pun was not missed on you 😂 and one day, we will see a dolphin, I've been in the water with a pink river dolphin in Singapore.. amazing memory it even kissed my check 😁
@@PeterandYen that’s awesome 🐬!!!! Dolphins are such amazing animals…there’s a resident pod of dolphins where my wife and I surf in California… so awesome to see them surf alongside you. Dolphins were a big part of how I proposed to my wife (long story) because how much we love watching them in the wild. I wish I could show you this vid my friend in Hawaii made of him diving with wild dolphins… truly amazing animals… I hope you and Yen get the chance (I’m sure you will) to experience them in the wild (almost as cool as seeing tuataras). Still hungry from your vid (I’m currently eyeballing a Singaporean restaurant as I write this 🤤).

@@PeterandYen 😂😂😂 @Sundai Love: They are a type of cormorant, if you know those. They hunt for food in water but can barely float. When they swim in the water, they barely manage to keep their neck and head above water making them look like snakes - I've heard people in the north of Namibia call them snake birds.
It is called Nasi kunyit (turmeric rice) or nasi kuning (yellow rice) but not sure though what are ingredients in there. I only know they use colouring. 🙂
My new routine, make food, set up my lounge, chrome cast RUclips to my TV and watch a Sunday episode 😁

Beautiful day 💕
