I need this channel to make a comeback ASAP! I've watched two videos of yours so far (including this one) and I can say that this is definitely one of those fabled user manuals that I've been looking for when it comes to this game called Life. Recently, I've been thinking about the similarities that games share with life itself, and this way of thinking about things has opened my eyes to how to re-contextualise certain tasks and situations. In fact, I'm currently trying to level up my programming skill so that I can build an app to help other players visualise their own system, much like Sung Jinwoo can in the light novel/manhwa/anime series Solo Leveling.
Another consideration for individuals trying to tailor this method to themselves is whether or not they have ADHD or "Motivational Deficit Disorder". The energy/focus/motivation bar is much much lower than others and drains faster and you have to trick yourself into finding things novel or urgent to complete tasks. It adds a whole new layer to making a system that works for you. The ability to correctly estimate how long tasks will take is not innate, and just "getting started" on some can take hours and hours then before you realize it you were distracted and wasted all of your time.
I think your framework is a great start for people with ADHD to try to get a grip on their challenges
Thats a really great point Schyler! What an interesting thing to add on, adding novelty and urgency... and points around procrastination :) I'll definitely consider these things for future videos. have a huge problem with getting started myself :')
i first read the title as "3 Ways to Ruin Your Life"
Underrated comment, so did I
I watch anime until I cry :'-(
Your videos are really rare and highly precious magic items one need to discover in life. Wish I could support you more but as a student, I'm currently low on Finance Stat.
Suggestion: Why don't you make an app to gamify life. Those out there are Trash. Your wisdom combined with coding and UI skills is what this world needs.
Thanks a lot buddy!
5:32 r u ok? (lol)
These are amazing!! Truly unique perspective!
oh man! It's a little disappointing that you didn't include the enjoyment-first way of running a live - which is the fundamental reason why we play videogames in the first place! It's the reverse of your energy model.
The fun-first rule goes something like this: You do what you find fun and you don't do what you don't find fun.
It's like in a sandbox MMORPG where the dev gives the players different options of gameplay, and they have the freedom to play however they want. You give your life different "content", or career path that you can enjoy: be it wealth, relationship, health, etc.
This rule can be applied on a day-to-day basis: you list out different activities you can do in a day, be it "Do assignment", "excercise", "watching youtube" and "play videogames". Instead of assigning to them how much "effort" they would take, we assign to them how much "fun" they would generate (for example, do assignment is assigned with fun 2/10; play videogames is assigned with fun 7/10). Instead of focusing on the negative, we focus on the positive that's the fun.
Now the question is, doesn't that mean you just go and play videogames for the entirety of every god damn day? That's no good! Look at the fun 7/10! Oops, that's where people are deceived.
The fascinating thing I find about this "fun-first" belief is that activities offer disminishing fun the more you do it. That's why after a binge Netflix, you feel horrible.
The fun you actually get at the end of a seemingly tedious activity like "exercise - fun 3/10" is, from my experience, almost always higher than what you assigned to them at first. At the end of the day, exercise makes me feel refreshed, and the fun is 7/10.
Gradually, we will get to the point where work and play in our mind make zero difference. They can all be simplified to fun activities. If 2 things equally fun, but work/study offer an extra perk that's some extra fun in the future while playing does not, You will spend more time working.
Now I'm able to stay productive for like 12 hours everyday effortlessly, only by focusing on what is fun - which is the work that I'm passionate about. Pls, it's not gamification without the mentioning of this mindset: "fun-first"!
Hahaha yea that could be the 4th way to run your life :D Very interesting points, kinda like balancing instant gratification with long term investing/delayed gratification with fun as the measure... That would be pretty interesting to think about, shifting the reward system of things you don't find fun to being fun as well :)
@@thegamifiedlife RIGHT? I find myself automatically go and devise silly fun way on tedious tasks, like syncing my washing dishes motion with my favorite music; challenging my friends for productivity, etc. People think following the "fun-first" code might lead you down the dark path of procrastion, but all I find is total joyous freedom and great fun in everything I do. It's counterintuitive, but the motivation it brings feels limitless!
I like your idea, kind of reminds me of a game encouraging you to not play by increasing the speed of leveling up with every hour you don't play, instead of decreasing with every hour you play, even if in both scenarios you are actually leveling up in the same speed, players just don't like to be punished~
Brilliant idea, I'll try it out
3). 3 rule of task 12:29.
12:33 Task in areas of life.

Amazing work Jeff. This is the first video of yours that I have seen, I'm curious, do you use any tool to track your tasks, health points, financial points, etc?
Thanks a lot! :) It's been tough trying to track things, I haven't been able to find a method that I truly like. (journaling, excel, etc.etc.) I think the main problem I have with tracking things consistently on a daily basis has been the feeling of it turning into more of a chore than something productive. So instead, I made a worksheet a couple months back where I would fill out where I am at the beginning of each month and tasks for each section!
I definitely want to expand on resources people could use in the future though, a project making something that can keep track of progress daily, but engaging and forgiving when it becomes too much of a bother.. So look out for them as they come :)

I would personally put Family, Friends & Love all under 1 Category: Relationships.
Actually, that's something I took a long time to consider too. But the reason why I separate it was because each one of the 3 have very unique... attributes to the.
Friends can be anything from high to low touch points depending on what you want, they can be extraordinary deep or very surface level, and lastly they can come and go, unlike family and relationships. So the scale for friendship is more geared towards what kind of social circle you want and how close you are to what you want.
Family are people you will need to be with pretty much no matter what. They are a forced connection with great generational gaps that require heavy lifting to work through, and people we tend to be most straight forward with as you know each other inside out. We learn the important lessons like "agree to disagree" and looking after each other despite countering opinions. But eventually, leave behind to form our own family. Where time together significantly decreases in adulthood. So the scale for family would be moreso how close you are with the fam and if that is what you are happy with.
Relationship is the most difficult because it is the person who we decide to stay with for the rest of our lives. Though of course there are divorces and breakups, but our love is usually considered who we end up until death. Even kids that are born will leave the nest. Thus, relationships are the most difficult, and challenging to ourselves. Where we learn the most about ourselves and each other and overcome difficult obstacles as we share our life journey together.
Well.... Kinda typed a lot :) BUT I can see why you would put them together too. Good point Josiah!
You are a genious 🙂💪🏼
