Years ago (early 80's) A friend of mine and I worked at a local golf course and after work, we could play all the free golf we wanted and one time we played a game where you could only choose one club for the 9 hole round on the executive (par 3) 9 holes. My pick was the putter and his was a 2 iron. We also had to drink TWO beers per hole since it was only 9 holes. I was amazed at some of my shots - most were straight and once actually landed and held the green! The more my friend drank - the more he was getting ahold of that 2 iron and overshooting or shanking the ball all over the place! I won. We both were hammered and slept at the maintenance shed since we both had to be back there at 6:30am next morning, lol.
Actually, I can do this most anytime. I’ve done exactly what this last golfer did many times. It’s not that difficult, with the right stance, and grip on the putter, I find leaving putts 9 feet short of the cup, comes natural to me. Unless I hit the windmill or that dinosaur foot.
@Todd M except it literally was not putting. Putting is stroking the ball so it rolls towards the hole. Any stroke that causes the ball to be lifted into the air isn’t a put (whether it’s a chip shot or drive). Putting isn’t just hitting the ball with a putter any more than than putting with a driver would be called a drive.
I don’t know if you’re dumb, thick, or just being a troll. No one ever said anything about what’s legal or illegal. I never said you couldn’t tee off with a putter or put with a driver. I’m saying what they did was not a 200 yard putt and this clickbait. For some idiotic reason you think they did putt. Sorry I proved you wrong and you had to be a whiny bitch about it.
My Aunt Billie LOVED The Golf Channel. She had never played a single game of golf, but she watched TGC every day. She would have loved the YT golf videos. RIP Aunt Billie...
The Dallas Rugby Club had an annual "memorial" golf tournament in honor of a yet deceased teammate. The golfers on the club brought out their old, beat-up golf clubs for the ruggers to use. Here is the keen part - all of the old golf clubs were tossed on the ground and the players backed off about 30 yards and on the "whistle", we sprinted to the pile of golf clubs and grabbed whichever "instrument" we could and had to play an entire 18 holes with one golf club! My last year with the Dallas RFC, I got a putter. I had a hilarious time hitting "worm burners" on the fairways and digging myself out of sandtraps and the rough. Good times!
when i was younger and played golf we used to play crazy golf when bored . Leave the clyubs in the car and put an assortment of cricket bat , baseball bat , tennis, badmington and squash rackets , hockey stick and a snooker cue as a putter. Also a case of beer , it was really great fun
They're sponsored they don't need to buy pretty much anything the clothes they're wearing are most likely the same clubs the companies pay them to use their stuff
Once as juniors, a long time ago, we hit off from the first tee with our putters. My putter head went flying along with the ball. Putter construction has improved over the decades!
A 200 yard hole at my childhood course was downhill from tee to green with a creek behind, so I always used a putter to get within 10 feet of the hole most of the time. Everyone else would use an iron and hit into the creek
My brother was a golf pro. He hated exercise, but wanted to stay in shape. So he the other assistants would each take one club and play as many holes as they could in an hour after work, running to the ball between shots. It was really funny watching them from the club house.
They need David Feherty to discuss a golfer approaching the tee in soft voice something like, " ... this is [golfer name] approaching the 17th tee 200 yards yes Jim this hole has been playing difficult all day with the rough on the far side of the green ... what is that he's pulling out of his bag? His caddie is handing him a ... Putter??"
about 18 years ago, I was playing with a couple of guys in a league , and we got to the 2nd hole, which was a 150 yard par 3 over a pond. The older guy in the group ( about 55, heavy smoker , badly overwight) hit his putter over the pond to about 6 feet below the pin.... he made par.
200 yards from the hole using a putter and ends up 9 feet from the hole? Now that is just utterly amazing. And the damnedest thing I ever saw. Of course there is the magic of video, but stranger things *have* happened, even though I haven't seen them.
Me and a couple friends used to do this as kids because we didn't have any other clubs. We'd dig a hole at the end of a field and hit with the putter until we got the ball in. Eventually the head broke off from being struck on the ground.
I used to do this at my local course with an old putter out of a extra set we had. Called it the "Par 3 Putter Challenge" My friends didn't even know you could get the ball in the air with a putter off a tee lol.
During a very dry period, our course was very dry, 411 yards par 4, my drive rolled inside 100 yards. I putted to within 3 feet. Then 3 putted for bogey.
Wow. 600 feet. I can't hit my driver that far anymore, and even though I did once hit one 425Y. Level fairway, and on a windless afternoon back then. Dead straight too. Par five, and we always played from the back tees in those days, 525Y in that case . My ball ended up eighteen inches left of the concrete 100Y marker. I was so chuffed I hit the second shot off the back of the forward sloping green into the tall grass behind, overshot the chip back down toward the water (but didn't soak it), then two putted coming back up the hill for par. Very depressing, and IIRC the round went downhill from there. I played to a best handicap of +3.1 in those days, but have never eagled a single hole even today. I did, however drain three seventy-foot putts in a row on a practice green once. I think a lot of money was won and lost up on the balcony that day by those were watching and betting on the outcome. :P I had a rotten short game in those days, but most of the rest was reasonably good. My short game is better in comparison to the rest now, but only because the rest is a lot worse.... In those days, I played with a 43 inch "Jumbo" driver, which which was face-weighted, and had a very small head. Probably smaller than most four hybrids today, in fact. I still put it in my bag even now for humor, and pull it out once in a while to show young guys what "Jumbo" meant in my day. It wasn't named so because it was big--it was tiny compared to a Big Bertha. It was so named because of the (very large) Japanese golfer who popularized it: "Jumbo Ozaki." Those of you who've been around the block might remember him.
Did this today on the 18th for the craic - got a good 140 out of it but sadly pushed it right OB! Good fun though! Even won a bet with my caddy who said it wouldn't clear the ladies tee!
Anyone else just think about the damage to those scottys because they are milled faces meaning if they are hit hard enough they will change the actually angle of the club due to the softness of the metal
when i started playing golf me and a friend would play on a "beginners course" that was 18 holes but all were par 3s. the longest hole was probably 170 yards ( just guessing). I'd use a range of clubs: 5 iron-putter. But a few times my friend would do something a little different & just use a putter for everything. Even the couple holes where a creek crossed thru. The putter he used was one from the course (they rented clubs). it was a putter with a huge head on it. I tell you, he didn't do that badly either. I think I probably did a little better, but he wasn't much worse just using the putter on every swing.
We used to do this years ago. Broke my putter. Ball never goes more than 3 feet off the ground. But you can drive it a lot further than you would think
I did this once on a short par 3 since the fairway was harder than a parking lot. I was just short of the green.......with the putter head going 110 yards but the ball 75 yards.
Emerald Hills Golf Course, Par 3 8th hole, 122 yards. Got a hole on 1 using a putter that I found a few holes earlier about 20 ft from the green. Well, not technically a hole in one as I was already on the green, but bc it was a super slow round I decidedly to hit another with the putter as a way to help time pass and what do ya know?? Landed about 20 ft shy of the green and then bee- lined straight into the cup.
This is the reverse of what Phil Mickelson does. Phil: Welp, it's 200 yards to the pin and my ball is inside a bush. Caddy: I'd go with a 5-Iron here with a slight draw. Phil: Hand me my Driver. Caddy: What? Phil: Driver. Now.
You show me a pro golfer who says he's never driven a ball with his putter before, and I'll show you a guy wearing plaid pants that just told a bold faced lie.

Omg, crazy, I lol’d. I love you were like Carl from Caddyshack😂😭
Mike, sounds like some amazing memories! Hahaha, this was a great read.
What a great story! 👍🏻
Carl, is that you?!
Back then if your boss found you passed out with dozens of beer cans around you he probably would have laughed

John boss you didnt quite grasp the joke sonny
Thanks Alex, apparently not.
Autumn Skies LOL!! “Under a bush, tree, bridge...” That’s great ! 😂
Randy Porter, damn that’s dope I hit a hole in one with a one hand shot. It went down the hill into the pipe then rolled down into the hole.
R/Woosh ONE HAND ?? That’s AWESOME ! You’ve got me beat. It’s just a shame you don’t have video of it !
That was great. Golf need more of these unusual funny contests so the genuine talent is showing. These guys are aces.
Golfers - ya want me to do what now?
Mini golfers - Nows my time to shine!
RIP windows
Whelp....They can drive a putter further than I can drive a driver
Wormburners like low life gangstalker scumthailand
I felt that at another level...
Aces Only same
Same
What 200 yards pussy
I was expecting a really really really huge green :(
That’s how clickbait works.

I wish I had a Scotty to swing around like its nothing
Get your money up and quit crying
Did they putt out with their drivers?
yeah, I was hoping to see that part of the video.
that poor Scotty Cameron. I'm gonna go hug mine and make sure it knows I'll never hurt it like this haha
*200 yard putt*

just smacking golf balls with their $300 putters
Far more than that. Scotty Cameron Circle T putters cost $1000 or more.
lol and idiots buy it. like $8,000 shoes and $1,000,000 cars. There's a niche for everyone.
you mean their free putters.
They're sponsored they don't need to buy pretty much anything the clothes they're wearing are most likely the same clubs the companies pay them to use their stuff

I love it, "Who's idea was this?"
Just Scotsmen looking good! As it should be at the 🏴 Open.
Seriously - some good shots there.
"Too much club" 🤣
This hurts my soul to watch them do this with Scotty Camerons 😩
Chad Houck why
@@minioneater some ppl think they care about clubs like scotty dont send em to them
Nicholas Boule ye they ratarded
What really hurts my soul is watching hacks putting 10 times a hole with $400 putter!
It doesn’t hurt their soul at all knowing they’ve got another 6 putters the same back home and 2 on tour.
Always good to see serious sportsmen have a laugh

good to see these guys....... just having fun with it !!
That just looks like a lot of fun. Great way to relax on the golf course.
They should actually do a hole with one club in the tour
I've seen this particular variation of the sport several times in person, but it's always been in my backyard really drunk 😎🍸⛳
Scottish players are great at this
True
I'm Scottish. And I'm thinking of trying it tomorrow...
Grant Paterson your not

Padraig was all for this challenge like he practices this everyday 😆 gotta love him
These guys are GOOD! God I love to listen to Padraig!
I don’t wanna do math when I’m playing golf.. those pin flags would just ruin my day. Lol
We used to do this on the 18th hole on the home course,,,200 yds was very attainable...but always fun to have fun!
enjoyable to watch
here I am, can't even hit 170 yards with a Driver...
Practice..
Frendolous I can barely get 120. I’m only 10 though.
This one's for all the "true blade players" who really put a premium on feedback from the club 00:56 :)

I remember John Daly using a putter off the tee during an actual competition in PE Island (Canada)... The guy farther than most people using a driver!
John Daly was hitting his putter 260 in exhibitions back in the 90s.
Who else thought that this was a hole in one video😂
I was expecting a smooth long downhill fairway to the green
So appropriate that the winner was born only a few miles away 😂 Knox 👏

No putters were hurt in the making of this video.

so in theory i only need the one club for the local chip and putt cheers boys wish me luck :)
