Thank you very much sir God bless you. I am Davies and it's been 3 years now since I started playing piano. since then to now my piano level is very poor, 😔 and I hope and pray you could be my piano tutor. 🎹 ❤️🙏
You are not only a talented performer, but also a gifted instructor. This level is great to help with technique and to add color to our playing. Thank you, Warren.
This is where I am! Ahhhhh! I play every song with chords on left and melody on right. Finally a video to get me to the next point. Time to start dividing the chord between hands. Thank you so much!
just came across this video and believe your method very effective -will continue watching older ones to help me get a better insight to.improve my piano skills-thank you so much for being a great teacher!
I can not read notes, as a 4-year-old I was given the chance to learn and as soon as I read the title "Mary Had a Little Lamb" I played it all by ear. So the teacher gave up she said I can't teach this kid anything. I had been playing since 2.5 years of age a Gift from God and I still play today that is why I have my channel. I love keyboards but for years I played piano. You play beautifully by the way. You can tell I play by ear because My fingering is all of my own doing not what is taught. hahaha. I also like Accordion and started out on Diatonic Accordion. I admire your work.
There are no good teachers in Chile just People Who need a salarios no love for muzic .thank you for your clarity in teaching and you profesional work, so mindfullness to your good video. I learnt New ways to play melodíes.
This was super helpful. Literally just started piano today, and this helped a ton. I've played guitar for 20 years, so I've got a bunch of music theory under my belt, and the way you layed it out on the keyboard made everything click. Subbed! Awesome job!
I started watching this, and thought that it might be for beginners. But you've convinced me the importance of the basics. I will practice my chords, but especially my inversions, in every key. I'm glad that I found your videos on scales and chords, and especially how to practice them. I started 7 months ago at 65 years, and I always joked that I had two left ears my whole life. But my Mom also bought herself a piano when she turned 65 and kept playing for another 20+ years. Thanks for being my tour guide.
This tutorial was incredibly helpful in delineating what notes are foundational and what notes are simply included to enhance the song. It also taught me how essential it is to know the timing of the harmonic rhythm. Earlier today, as I was practicing, I said to myself that I really needed to learn how to combine harmony and melody. I believe God led me to this video because, as I opened RUclips, this video was there in my recommended list. I believe many souls will be won because of this channel. Be encouraged and continue to play and instruct to God's honor and glory. God bless.

When I started learning piano this channel didn't exist lol. Now that I'm getting back into it in my new apartment, and also getting back into church this is exactly the kind of stuff I wanna learn how to do. Thanks so much for making these, I look forward to watching very many of them.
I love this tutorial and I just subscribed. Now, I'm going to watch the other 9 lessons I missed. Please keep making them, you're a talented instructor.
my dad told me i can do first chords F, G, and C, from the C scale. You just kid according to melody. Like if a melody is, C, D, F, E, C. In the melody, you play C chord, but when play F, you change do F chord inverted. If melody is, C, D, G, F, C, so you play C chord, but when play G, you play G chord. Simple, isnt? But i want to improve know ;-
Thanks for the video, Warren! For me, the easiest way to add left hand and improvise and spontaneously harmonize any melody with bass or root notes is to simply play the root note at one, three, or five note intervals plus one octave below the melodic notes played on the main downbeats. All I do is look at whatever note I’m playing on the right hand on the main downbeat and play with my left hand pinky the notes at 1, 3, or 5 note intervals below the current melodic note (then holding my left hand in a fixed claw, play or roll over the notes at 1,5, 8 and 10 above the root note for form the chords). So while I’m playing any given song melody “by ear” on my right hand, I am harmonizing not by ear but instead “by sight”. When I discovered this simple trick, I was suddenly able to play songs by ear on piano (and play any song in any key and/or start a song on any note on the piano without having to pick in advance what key to play the song) which I was never able to do over my 40+ years playing the piano! See bit.ly/howtoplaypianobyear
Beautiful instruction Warren. Just what I needed to understand how to USE the chords and the harmony. Will be watching this vid many times to get this and I think it will be my "missing link". Very gifted sir.
I just came across your video and I'm very thankful because learning how to play chords with melody is what I've been looking for. And you do explain things very well. May God bless more
Thanks Warren! Found this video very useful. I’d been looking for this kind of tutorial and happy to got yours! Hope to have more of this lesson about putting a melody in a chord.
I absolutely love this video and have been searching for so long for “how to play [guitar/vocal/not piano] parts on piano” or “how to play guitar chords on piano” because I’ve been wanting to play the songs I love that don’t have piano parts or that do but don’t have sheet music. I realize now my search terms were all wrong and that “chords with melody” is exactly what I’ve been looking for. The title itself was an epiphany for me! Thank you!
also learn what intervals you’re playing on guitar (ie what a major third vs minor third etc look like on guitar between each string) and what those intervals are on piano. once you have that all you have to do is transfer intervals from one instrument to the next and it’s done
Thank you dear Warren, gives me the hope to progress to using the chords I've just learnt. Very inspirational indeed. Regards from Sri Dham Mayapur, West Bengal India.
Warren, Cory Henry, and that guy, keyboard player from Jamiroquai, that's the holy trinity from what I've seen until now. Simply mad skills as close to magic as humanly possible.
It's impressive for non-musicians to hear someone play as well as you do. It's even more impressive for musicians to hear someone play with as much control, ease, and knowledge as you do. Remarkable skills.
thank you man, you are a good teacher, you making me learn about how to play melody it was very complicated to me but now i am in way to know because of you.
Glad I came back to this vid. I feel like I'm really understanding this the second time around. I've been focusing on practicing my scales with both hands like you suggested a while back. And these days I'm playing major and minor scales comfortably with both at the same time.
Warren, you are absolutely exceptional, so helpful, you are so blessed, im so greatful for your teaching skills , thanks for explaining each subject of the lesson so acutely
Very didactic. Your explanations on how to analyse this song and then gradually build it up to produce a superb composition at the end are well explained. Thank you so much for posting this video.
This tutorial is really dealing very effectivelly with what has always been quite frustrating to me when I observe players making it look like child's play ie chords + melody. Thank you very much.
Hi Warren😊 very glad to have ‘found’ you and your tutorials. As a classically trained pianist pretty much solely focused on reading music, I’m branching out with my own playing and teaching to play with chords and am enjoying this new challenge so much. I am now in my own journey into the wonderful world of adlibs and improvisation with passing tones (and maybe passing chords soon). You have freed me from SHEET MUSIC JAIL! I thank you once again, Sir!
1st video I watched on your channel and automatically subscribed at the end. I’m kind of adept at reading piano sheets but now I’m tired of waiting for someone to produce good copies wherein many people play it exactly how you play it. I want to create my own style of music the way I perceive it and improvise however I like. I’m really amazed at people who learned piano by ear and can immediately play anything. I’m still a novice when it comes to playing by ear and your video just made me took a great leap in learning. So thank you so much, sir!
Thank you Warren. You have a superb playing skills. Very simplified tutorial easy to understand. This is just what I needed. God will richly bless you with more skills as you continue to enrich others with these musical skills.
Thank you Warren. This tutorial was so helpful for me as could not figure out how or when to play chords with left hand. Breaking it down on how to split up the chords between the right and left hand while keeping melody on top has just alleviated all of the confusion and frustration I’ve been having with playing songs. What a blessing and you are a great teacher!
