I had given up learning the piano until i got this tutorial. This is more a tutorial. It has a life of its own. Very inspiring and refreshing. Such a fine and seasoned teacher unlike any other i have found on RUclips. Thank you!
I can thank you enough for this. A month ago i didn't know any scales on piano. Today i learned the Bb Maj to finish off the video! I can now play all 12 major scales in two octaves with both hands at the same time! Playing with both hands was the hardest part for me and it literally took a week of practice before i could do it. I didn't think i'd be able to. I spent a week on the C scale alone. But after that it got easier and easier. I'm so happy! Thanks, Warren, for all you do! 💯
Some times it just clicks!! First run of this video it All went over my head. Took me to get the piano out to understand an even now it feels like I'm a long way off. Would be nice to see what notes are involved in the major an minor chords as the numbers are helpful but I can't see which keys are pressed! Stil great video and hope you have progressed further.
I have been practicing these daily, exactly as you suggest for 9 days now... i'm surprised at how quickly the improvement happens! Really enjoying the rewards of correct technique. Very grateful for the thought and effort you put in ... Thanks.
Unfortunately, you’re teaching the wrong fingering right off the bat (the two octave, right hand fingering). It should be 54321,321,4321,321. You shouldn’t teach what you don’t know yourself.
Mike Mitchell so he should start with his pinky, then ring finger, middle, index, thumb, then cross his middle finger over his thumb while as ascending lmaoo okay
I've been playing piano for 14 years and practicing scales properly through multiple octaves and proper fingering is something i have neglected all this time. this video is helping me a lot, thank you so much!!!

I am very surprised to be back at lessons and also amazed at how much my body does remember. Piano is taught differently now, though, and your words sum it up. Slowly and without anxiety. Thanks for the advice about practicing scales. I am practicing Eb--slowly and without anxiety--but haven't yet put the two hands together. Love this. Just what I've been looking for. DAY one and already I feel I've learnt more than in the past year. Been struggling with scales and this is shown really well. Thanks you.
Love this tutorial! Working my way through each scale one by one and getting so much more comfortable with proper fingering and remembering each scale by heart. So far, I've worked my way through F major left and right hand. Gonna keep practicing a little more before I move on to the # and b major scales. Thank you for the awesome job you've done teaching us.
This video has helped me so much! My main instrument is bass clarinet (I’ve been playing for 4 years now) and I’ve decided to start learning a little piano. Most piano scale videos go to *great* lengths to explain what a scale is when really all I need to know is the fingerings. Thank you!!!

hello Warren have been following for long but had never realized that this video existed most of the other videos were too advanced for me but today I've started working on this hoping for the best. THANKS ALOT
Mind blowing. I took classical lessons from age 5 to 15 years then discovered girls! Now 60 years later I got a Casio. I thought I had forgotten everything but within a couple of days following your instructions my hands seem to have remembered everything. ( At least the scales, not yet tried chords) I would not have believed it but the old saying " you never forget how to ride a bike" seems to apply here also.

You are a gifted teacher Warren. I’m brand new to your videos, I happened upon them on accident this morning and so glad I did. I went to your website and signed up for your 3 day trial and will devour as much info as I can process. After being injured in Iraq and retiring from military, I found myself with lots of time. My wife bought me a guitar and I spent the last few years playing it lots and have gotten pretty decent. As a surprise for Christmas she told me that she got me a Roland Keyboard Synthesizer to learn a new instrument. The goal will be to eventually also have some e-drums as well and be decent at em all. Anyhow I’ve been exploring different teaching sites online and had been contemplating playground sessions. However, I’m gonna give your trial a go and I believe you may be a better fit for me and how I learn. I like worship music so I also study guitar and eventually other instruments at a site called worship artistry. But they assume you already know how to play in order to really play all the song lessons. Anyhow keep up the good work.
Purple Heart Scott thanks for watching bro, and sorry to hear you got injured. I assume you’re military, if so thank you for your service :) While going through the trial subscription on the website, if yuh have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thanks

Hi Warren I am getting back into the piano from 45 years ago! Love your video on major scales it’s getting my fingers working again so thank you. I really would like to go through all your tutorials so not sure how to get to No 5. Cheers from the Sunny Coast Australia. Jude
Thank you. I was looking for this because I found it difficult to continue to have my thumb on b flat when I was playing F major scale. This helps alot. So I guess there is only 4 fingering rules on playing major scale: 1. avoid thumbs on black keys; 2. try to land on octaves with the most comfortable finger just to continue on; 3. find the most comfortable/natural pivot finger when switching to thumb. 4. only use pinky when it feels natural.
Jake Lewson that pretty much sums it up :). Playing the piano should actually feel as comfortable as riding a bicycle. If it doesn’t, then you’re doing something wrong. For more technique building routings, you can checkout my course here; pianolessonwithwarren.com/downloads/building-technique/
You are an amazing teacher! Lots of love from India. I'll be finishing these lessons and will be joining courses on your website. Thank you so so much.
to summarize the white keys, C,D,E,G,A are all 123,12345 or 54321,321 with both hands depending on which direction you're moving. B is still the same for RH and F is still the same for LH, but B for LH and F for RH both use 1234,1234 or 4321,4321 simply to avoid the awkwardness of putting the thumb up on a black key
Thank you so much for this incredible video! Only started learning piano recently so this has been extremely helpful, you have a great way of explaining things and a great method of teaching.
Thanks Warren. Comparing this video to your latest tutorials (2019) signals how greatly God has advanced and enlarged your coast within the space of 4 years! Please keep up the good work and be assured the sky☁️ is your starting point! 😘😘😘
hey warren :) very nice video, after spending 15 days time I have got a good speed. Very nice tutorial. One thing I want to share is... if some one searches for scales in RUclips your video appears on 4-5 positon... and the top 4-5 I would say are useless video comparing to this video. I think if you add a image for 140k views and a 12 Scale image on the top of this video.... I think this video can get a lot of attention .............. Thanks From a Student in INDIA
I agree with that top comment great teacher for this video rather than me make one for my students I try and send them to your website for this. Long story short I would love to see the same video but just straight through at 50 bpm I want to make my students call out the names of the notes you’re playing while you’re playing them!! If you don’t do Pham videos all good I’ll make one and I’ll give a shout out to you thanks so much for all your patience
WOW! How to EVER get fast with these....let alone, know correct fingering. I truly hope this great teacher helps us with this impossible seeming skill 😖
I play. C, G, D, A, E, B, F, B£, E£, A£, D£, G£ Major triads, 7th,'s, everyday, but had never considered changing my approach to different scales because of the back key position. You have impacted my music. Thank you.
Thank you, warren. My parents got me a Casio keyboard as an early birthday present two weeks ago. I tried to figure out some of the major scales myself , based on the formula. I could actually figure out some ,like the B major and the C sharp for example, But I got sort of confused, especially with the B flat major scale and the F major scale. Your video series is really helping though, thanks again.
Sorry my good man but I can barely hear you on this video You're a good teacher and I hope that you can remedy this because I would really like to learn this particular lesson from you thank you so much

So I guess there is only 4 fingering rules on playing major scale:
1. avoid thumbs on black keys;
2. try to land on octaves with the most comfortable finger just to continue on;
3. find the most comfortable/natural pivot finger when switching to thumb.
4. only use pinky when it feels natural.
Jake Lewson that pretty much sums it up :).
Playing the piano should actually feel as comfortable as riding a bicycle. If it doesn’t, then you’re doing something wrong.

That’s awesome to hear :)
You are an amazing teacher! Lots of love from India. I'll be finishing these lessons and will be joining courses on your website. Thank you so so much.
I've been watching a bunch of your tutorials and I love the energy your videos are really helpful.
I am looking forward to learning all 12 major scales with the correct fingerings. Thank you for your service Warren:-)))
You’re welcome 😉
Brother you are really opening up our minds this work is absolutely awesome,, thanks
Thank you very much my man, this is exactly what I was looking for and now it has help me learn fast and right, thanks again.
Great job...I can't share my feelings in words..I wanna say simply- God bless u always
Shubham Vats thank you 🙏🏾
to summarize the white keys, C,D,E,G,A are all 123,12345 or 54321,321 with both hands depending on which direction you're moving.
Thanks for watching 😊🙏🏾

Thank you very much, it has been a journey 😊👍🏽🙏🏾🥰
Great lessons Warren. Many thanks from India 🙏
hey warren :) very nice video, after spending 15 days time I have got a good speed.
Thanks From a Student in INDIA
pankaj joshi thank you for the suggestion 😊👍🏾

I’m glad you found us too 😊🙏🏾
I agree with that top comment great teacher for this video rather than me make one for my students I try and send them to your website for this. Long story short I would love to see the same video but just straight through at 50 bpm I want to make my students call out the names of the notes you’re playing while you’re playing them!! If you don’t do Pham videos all good I’ll make one and I’ll give a shout out to you thanks so much for all your patience
Thank you so much sir for sharing your knowledge! God bless you! ❤

I play. C, G, D, A, E, B, F, B£, E£, A£, D£, G£ Major triads, 7th,'s, everyday, but had never considered changing my approach to different scales because of the back key position. You have impacted my music. Thank you.
Stephanie Guilmenot you’re welcome 😉
Thank you, warren. My parents got me a Casio keyboard as an early birthday present two weeks ago. I tried to figure out some of the major scales myself , based on the formula. I could actually figure out some ,like the B major and the C sharp for example, But I got sort of confused, especially with the B flat major scale and the F major scale. Your video series is really helping though, thanks again.
