Excellent presentation, for someone like me who doesn't know too much about mechanical issues.

Straight to the point and very detailed without all the extra bullshit. Thank you very much brother.

Yes, good video with useful information. I have a 97 Ram 1500 5.2 and it is much harder to access the cap and rotor but is all basically the same.

Helpful video i have a 1997 1500 5.2 I’m having a cylinder 8 misfire I am replacing plugs ,cap, rotor and wires over the weekend do you recommend I replace my ignition coil as well?

If it’s working fine I wouldn’t worry about it, but me being me I’d probably get a new one while I’m at it. Mines was rusted looking but worked fine I replaced mines a few weeks later just because I like my truck to run at its best.

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L. I changed the spark plugs, wires. distributor cap and rotor. I changed everything as i was getting several misfire codes. Truck was starting before all the changed. Now it cranks but wont start. I checked several times to make sure all wires are are connected and press to click correcting. I followed the firing order as stated on the vehicle. What could have gone wrong?

Check the distribution sensor it sits inside the distributor, this sends the spark signal to your spark plugs. It is common that hat when you put the cap and rotor on you may have damaged the wire. Check if you have spark use a spark plug at one of your spark plug wires and see if you have spark and go from there.

Now I wonder if it stays the same when the engine and transmission and transfer case is being installed from a different truck? The donor engine is out of a 98 but wasn’t the original engine…it’s the 318 with two temp sensors on the engine block going into a 97 ram 1500…only 9 months difference in manufacturing dates…but we had to swap out the ends on the wiring harness so that it would fit the sensors in the engine from the 98…for the cam position sensor…so either I need to replace the cam sensor off the old engine so it’ll fit the wiring harness on the 97…and the plate under the cap so it’ll also match..but I’m still not sure how that’s changed the firing order and timing…if the engine ran when it was pulled and the only difference is swapping out the cap and cam sensor…it shouldn’t change the timing/firing order in the engine I would think? But I’m not getting any spark to the coils and the reader tripped a po340 code for bank 1

It could be countless things to be honest, but let’s start with the timing of the motor. If timing was correct and motor was running prior to install then it is correct don’t question it, the spark signal comes from the cam sensor inside the dizzy. start there make sure the wires aren’t damaged and make sure both grounds on the back of each cylinder head are connected and lastly check your primary coil wire and coil make sure all connections are good with any wiring that may have been cut or spliced.
Also check the ecu and make sure it’s correct if it’s a different motor from a different generation you’ll need to make sure your not trying to use your stock ecu on a totally different motor.
I hope this helps and gives you a good direction on where to start and what to check but it’s a tough diagnosis through the Internet so take your time and revisit areas you are questionable about.

doesn't show you how to get the wires off of the plugs. mine do not come off. I tried pulling hard and twisting. not coming off. of course there has to be a complicated ridiculous trick to get them off

If they are stuck that bad you have to break them essentially and replace with new, sorry to hear that

Twist the boots half a turn until you can pull it off. The heat shields make it really difficult to get in there and grab them. Use dielectric grease on the ceramic part of the spark plug so they come off easily next time and seal away from corrosion on the contacts. And yes, you might be breaking the old wires to get them out.
