I started my cell phone repair business at 14 years old. I had customers coming to my front door before I could even drive! By the time I was 16, I had grown my company to break well over 6 figures and today my business is worth an astounding half a million. It was no easy task to grow a business from a small desk in my bedroom to a physical retail location in 4 years.
In today’s video, I dive into my background, how I first got started, and where the company is today.
Keep Grinding!

I decided to take my course down. Previous students still will have temporary access, but going forward I will only be offering consulting services for those interested. Being able to teach others how to build successful repair businesses has been fun, but I decided to move away from selling any courses.

This gave me more motivation to go harder with my repairs. Just opened a shop in a office location & it’s the first in my city so I’m hoping for success
How’s your shop been going man ?
how is it going bro
Give us an update we’re curious 👀
Bros dead
Nope still here! Going great! I’ve expanded to a new bigger location. About to take up a class this month that’s going to teach me how to do more in depth repairs along with micro soldering.
I just started doing phone repair back in March and already know how to fix iPhone models, and now starting to fix Samsung models. I want to open up my own store soon with how fast my business has grown. Watching this honestly gave me more inspiration
I am 15 years old, my story is literally the same as yours. I fixed my first phone when I was 10 and this last year I realized how profitable it was. Now I am one of the biggest ranked in the city. I buy all my parts out of pocket and its easy money.
Koen Johnson are you still 15 years old? Respect 💪
Hey! Is there any way I can contact you?
Mad respect brother! Would love to have you on the channel. DM me at @jonathanjstrange
No offense, but I just had a massive epiphany about all the youtubers selling courses. All the youtubers that are selling courses on how to make money are actually the people that are not making money off of what they are teaching, but actually making money off of selling their courses.
Its actually sad. Preying on the weak and vulnerable. The people who are just miserable trying to escape their 9-5 job, but actually just taking more of their money and furthering them from their goals.
Yes this is an unfortunate reality. This was one of the reasons why I decided to take my course down.
Everyone is trying to take, few are trying to give.
it's not just that i hate this clickbait titles of "my phone repair business" where they spend 10 minutes talking about nothing only to pitch their course at the end to learn how to start a repair business
I started at 14 also with computers then mobile phones now I do home reno also salute to u
Thanks man! Keep killing it.
Awesome thanks for sharing your journey. Question: I am curious to know, how did you obtain the parts for a repair job in the begining if you had no money?
Thanks man I'm starting this, really motivating me right now

Do you do any repairs at board level ?
Hi Johnathan nice I saw the vds I just saw a copy of me. Where r u now? Is that in the USA or uk
How did u get into microsoldering and how did you get the training on it
I trained under an industry legend in the cell phone repair community after a few years of just doing modular repairs. Truth be told the best way to start is just by practicing yourself.
Awesome stuff man!
Thanks Brother!
Thanks for sharing. I hope someday.
Great video, thanks 💪
Thanks brother! Love the support.
are US cellphone parts good?
IM 13 and the problem is when they see and or hear me they usually don't want me to do it cause I do logo design and want to start cellphone flipping and repair so yeah :(
Wow nice, I work in repair shop and didn’t know my boss can make that much
For every dollar that a small business makes the business owner only gets a small percent of that often between 10-20% of the total revenue. Don't think that just because my business did $500k in one year, that I personally made 500K that year.
Do you do microsoldering
Your the man bro!!
Your the boss brother!
Well done dude! Where do you advertise?
Word of mouth is always going to be your biggest success in this industry, but Search Engines are great too. Do you currently do SEO for your business?
Do u offer warranty for device that u are working on it go bad ?
PhoneBase Yes absolutely! We offer a 6 month warranty on all of our repairs.
Where did you get your inventory?
We source from 100s of suppliers! In recent months we've been attempting to source our own parts directly from manufacturers in China!
still watching here , from philippines
Awesome brother! Love PH.
Manifesting this for @Revive Technology!
Thanks for
The video 💚📱
Awesome!
Where do/did you get the parts?
100s of suppliers! Primarily china unfortunately.
Hey Jonathan I own a small repair shop and it's doing well I wish one day I can grow it like you did, I was hope to get a bit of knowledge on buying cellphones and reaching the right provider I don't know if you can help me such a petition if u can. I would gladly appreciate it , thank you
Hello I’m 15 and idk where should I start to learn? Like how do u learn when u were 14?
Yes I'll do a video on that today! Stay posted.
Damn you’re the second guy on RUclips from AL doing this.
James really who’s the other guy?
@@JonathanStrange His name is alabama boss hog

Not happy with RepairShopr customer service what are the alternatives?
Just screen flips then.
No we do much more than screen flips, but many repair companies do screens only.
@@JonathanStrange Microsoldering?
Would you mind telling me how much profit you earn each month?

@jonathanjstrange
wait until the IRS see this...
They will love our books! Every penny is recorded properly.
@@JonathanStrange oh is that so...expect a audit real soon. I got a cousin that works for the state in LA Lower Alabama.
What about the issue of apple slowly making it impossible for third party companies to repair iphones?
Yea totally! For Examples Replacing the iPhone 7 home button. Apple are making it almost impossible to pursue these repairs. Jonathan, could you please explain how you work around these issues. Love you work. Cheers
There are actually replacement home buttons for the 7 - the 8 plus
@@paceygrooby57 JC Home Buttons are available.... Its a blue tooth home button
China always finds a way. Right to Repair advocates and the consumers won't stand for it forever. Just wait till people are told that they can't take their $40,000 Teslas to the nearest repair shop....
