S24 Ultra Anti-Reflective Screen Protector is Garbage

  • TL;DR
    S24 Ultra no longer comes with a preapplied screen protector from factory
    This is a first party Samsung Brand, directly from Samsung
    It cost an additional $25 on top of the price for the phone
    Requires manual application (obviously)
    It's more reflective than the actual screen of the phone
    It doesn't actually fit the screen (gaps on each side)
    Horizontal application line does not go away (even with heat)

    The line in the middle disappeared after 24 hours for me. But yes it is definitely more reflective than the actual screen. But not by much. The screen still feels very anti reflective when compared to my old iPhone.

    • @bozeghaleh5713
      @bozeghaleh5713 5 месяцев назад

      How does it feel? Is it soft to touch and anti slippery material like hydrogel material that also would get marks from spen or it's hard to touch and slippery material like glass or s24 ultra's own screen?

    • @madhusudhanvenkatesan6397
      @madhusudhanvenkatesan6397 5 месяцев назад +6

      @@bozeghaleh5713 it's very similar to how a regular tempered glass would feel - no undulations when pressure is applied or if the S pen is used. It isn't rough either, so I'd say similar to the phone's screen itself.
      The line in the middle was present for an entire day which was definitely infuriating but I left the phone as is overnight, and it was gone when I woke up, which was nice.
      As mentioned in the video though, it does not cover the entire front area, i.e., the black borders around the screen are not covered by the screen protector. But I think it's fine because I guess it will work well with cases.
      The annoying thing due to this though (my case hasn't arrived yet so I'm using the phone without one), is, I can feel the edges when using navigation gestures - especially the back gesture. I hope it settles in quickly and won't be a problem once I slap a case on.

    Adding anti reflective screen protector on a screen with built in anti reflective properties, actually makes it worse. It’s not a coating on the screen, that eventually wears off. That’s why the reduction is so much compared to normal, plus adding any screen protector in general will reduce how effective the anti reflective properties are. Cheers!

For the S24 Ultra - the protective film is MORE reflective, and it's smaller than screen, grabbing your finger when edge-swiping. "should" is always the skeptical part. It's been two days since putting it on and it's still there so I'm just going to take it off, it's causing more problems for me than not having it at all at this point.
      Normally film screen protectors do have some lines, bubbles, etc, that's totally normal and they go away, but after working in a repair shop there are lots of tricks along the way to speed stuff up you learn like how applying some heat will basically make them go away instantly (which is why they normally go away over time from the heat off the display making the bubbles and lines go away) but in this case it did nothing.
      Kind of good in that sense that the screen protector is made of a better material than most as heat does not affect it, but bad in the same sense where it's way harder to apply compared to a normal lesser quality one.

    • @frozennorthproductions
      @frozennorthproductions  2 месяца назад +1

      You have to kind of watch with peak brightness and how they rate it. Because most of the time, they show those numbers based on HDR value, but the actual real world performance is much less.
      So for example if you're watching a movie or something and it's a super dark scene, and then like a gun shot or small explosion goes off in a movie, only the gun shot or explosion area will actually be at those peak brightnesses because the entire panel can't actually produce those numbers, only very small portions of them can hit that maximum brightness because of power limitations.
      I also find that with Samsung, the peak brightness while outside is extremely washed out and has horrible colour accuracy, so even though it's a lot brighter than most phones, the experience still sucks so looking at the brightest screen possible means nothing when it actually comes down to how it performs overall, rather than at one thing.

    The reason it's smaller is because of the flat screen, and due to that reason, phone cases are going to cover the edges of the phone more than a case that's made for curved displays, so it's necessary to make it case friendly.

    Can't agree more, i peeled it off after using it for couple of hour.
    But first, I did not have the "line" issue, it is perfectly aline with the edge of the screen without bubbles.
    Since the screen protector is not covering the whole front glass, it scratched my thrumb everytime when i was using swipe to back gesture. I putted on the samsung stock case and it was still happening. Swipe to back gesture is comfortable back to my s20u without any case and protector, s24u with flat screen is less friendly to the gesture and it got worse after applied screen protector.

      I bought 3 packs of that. All had dust/lint/hair stuck on the adhesive side of each protector despite my crystal clear screen before installation. Totally ruined the easy application experience.

    I've been using EVG $8 3pk TPU on my S22 Ultra since it's release date & those lines normally go away but the ones I had were so called, "self healing" & I could mark it with my fingernail & it would go away. I don't have a single micro scratch on my 22 Ultra & I even dropped it from pocket height onto rocks!
    All i seen was shattered display & I freaked out but when I peeled off that film? The screen was perfect! TPU made a true believer out of me but EVG doesn't offer them for the S24 Ultra yet.

      @@aquablaster86Why? The phone is literally one of the best in the market? As for the screen protectors I knew it was going to be trash when it stated it was a film screen protectors and it was made by Samsung. Samsung doesn't put that much effort intot their accessories. That also goes for their cases.

    • @aquablaster86

      I have the Samsung branded soft film protector on my s23u and love it. I don't need a second layer of glass on top of a layer of glass. As far as the phone itself, yes, it is a nice phone. As it better be for $1400! As far as returning my s24u, I will wait until the return window is almost up to see if samsung comes out with an update to fix the color issue. If not, I will keep my s23u plus my $600 and return this s24u. I don't understand why people think that just because a new model comes out that the previous model is outdated and useless. The s23u was a amazing phone when it came out 11 months ago, and is still an amazing phone today!

      @@aquablaster86 not sure about the screen protector, but the S24 Ultra is excellent. You'll feel the difference while using it, unless your current device is the S23 Ultra.

    Mate.. the anti reflector screen protector is actually countering the anti reflector screen itself, hence becoming shinier. I understand it's probably too much for your brain to understand, but rather than complaining about the screen protector being "smaller" than the screen itself... have you thought that it might have been done deliberately to allow for third-party cases to actually fit and complete the protection? Unlike apple, samsung doesn't get any royalties from people selling cases with no stamps or brands. Are you seriously needing clicks on the videos, or are you actually legit about what you're saying?

      Why so harsh with your words. He is just reporting his findings. I too experienced exactly what he reported. I too thought that coming from Samsung it would be a perfect fit. Why offer a reflective screen protector to protect YOUR own ANTI-REFLECTIVE screen? Makes no sense.
      Maybe you could take a moment to really see what he was saying. No need for harshness. We all have a right to our feelings and opinions. Right Mate?

      dude this anti reflective screen protector is gonna be less reflective than any tempered glass protector anyways. this is still your best bet if you want a protector but keep the anti reflect feature somewhat

    🤣🤣🤣🤣 Bro is mad because he doesn't know how to put a screen protector on. First of all who puts on a screen protector with their phone on. Secondly him saying its more reflective is the most cap thing he's said this video. I know he's afraid to do a comparison of his phone with and without the screen protector because mine is way less reflective with it on and mine has no lines or bubbles. Thirdly I know he did not pay for that screen protector because it came free with the samsung pre-orders.
