    Ron W. I love the simple straight forward instruction. I have a 2014 Ram 3500 6.7. Cruise control wont turn on unless i pull and reinstall the fuse from the fuse block. It works perfectly until the next time i try to turn it on, then i have to repeat the process.

      MotorCity Mechanic: That's pretty funny man, I seen in a post on this Video saying something about, Oh he says undo the battery for 15 mins but you can see the lights on the dash are on. Yeah Its one of those....do as I say and not as I do things lol. I have learned from videos such as that and others to make sure to pay attention to the details like that so that people dont have anything to say lol. Airbags are safe as long as you dont do something stupid. But its always best to film the exact procedure....not need in confusing people.

    I have a 2008 1500 ST V6. I’ve read in forums that these do not come with pre wired, but then some do. I feel like this should be a simple “plug and play”. Or do i have to go to a dealership for them to program it?
    Great video, thanks for your help!

    • @MotorCityMechanic

      I am not 100% sure on that. I havent tried it myself. On some vehicles its as simple as that while others not. Also when we add some features we do need to go online and change the sales codes and re-download them to the vehicle in order for things to work.

      I believe it was related to a code that was set. Its been awhile since performing that repair so my memory is a but fuzzy. you need to scan all the modules to check for a related codes.....a simple code reader will not do it. As far as the part number.....I recommend contacting the local Dodge dealer and get the number from them. Then go online and google it and see what options come up as far as price and possible alternatives. The dealer/OEM may be the only option as far as to where to get it in the end. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe

    I have a 2007 dodge ram 1500 4.7L I had the cruise control on then the check engine light came on and I lost cruise control. Did a computer check and found I needed a TPS sensor. So I replaced TPS sensor and still no cruise control. Is there a fuse for cruise control? If so where do I find it? Or what should I look for next?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  6 лет назад

      The thing about cruise control issues is the monitoring the data related to that system. You need a higher end scanner to get that info. It will tell you what the possible issues might be as far as inputs and on some modules it will show what is preventing it to work....such as speed, brake pedal, etc. Otherwise its a guess.

    . 2006 1500 4x4 4.7

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  6 лет назад +2

      The 4.7 has a cable operated throttle which means a vacuum operated cruise control servo. This means that there can be numerous issues. First step is to check for codes and then go from there. If no codes then monitoring the cruise control related items with a scanner will be needed to see what item might be causing the issue. In the mean time the simplest thing you can do is check the vacuum line going to the cruise control servo that should be mounted below the battery which means battery corrosion can damage the vacuum line. Certainly something to check into. Thanks for the question and for watching. Make sure to subscribe

      Vacuum leak or bad vacuum check valve. I would check all the vacuum lines going from the engine to the cruise control servo to the firewall. Make sure to damaged lines and in line you will find 1 or 2 vacuum check valves. One of those might be bad.

    • @MotorCityMechanic

      Its a possibility. I havent seen that before personally. The way to test would be to monitor the cruise control switches to see if it shows one being depressed when it shouldnt. That requires a scanner that can access all the modules in the truck and then observe the data from the switches. Otherwise it would be a guess

    • @MotorCityMechanic

      The systems dont you the typical powers like 12 volts that we are use to....instead they vary the voltage/resistance for different switch positions. It requires having a scanner to monitor the switch states to see which is working and which is not.

      +dough3208 Thanks for the kind words. I cant remember exactly but it depends on the engine size. The hemi being electronic throttle body would mean the install should be fairly simple. I would have to get the last 8 digits of your VIN to have my parts department pull up the kit avail and maybe even see if the install instructions are avail to see if anything odd.

      +dough3208 I checked with my parts department and there is no listing for an add on kit. The newer trucks have to have the build configuration changed and downloaded to the vehicle when items are added or removed inorder for them to work. Yours is old enough that you most likely wont. I have no additional info on adding the cruise at this time. I would start with removing the air bag on the drivers side to see if the wiring is there for both the cruise control switches first.

      That_Guy89 x The truck has a hemi so there is nothing under the hood related to cruise control. Reason why is there is no throttle cable because its drive by wire....electronic throttle body. Everything is controlled by the engine controller and other modules as well. The only way to tell is to observe the sensor and switch data with a scanner capable of viewing all these items. It should show a reason why its being denied and turning off. Make sure to subscribe and spread the word

      speed sensor would set a code. the scanner will show alot of cruise control related items and even state why the last cruise control effect was stopped. Thats why the correct scanner is needed....not just to check codes but to see why the cruise control was disabled.

      the scanner that I know for sure will check it is the factory scanner. I cant speak of other scanners because Im not familiar with them. I use the factory DRB3 everyday so its what I know. Best bet would be visiting the dealer, otherwise you would be just throwing parts at it blindly
