0:54 - "if you'll move your hand out of the way..."...damn.

If I were that guy who was rudely asked to move his hand, I would have looked that other guy in the face, and firmly slapped him...with that hand.

Thank you so much for this video. Been dreading hiring a plumber because the last time they charged us $500 and everything to hey touched still leaked. This I can do!

You should have held the repair kit up so people could see A), What's in it, and B) who makes it. For such a detailed display you missed a ton of details on the actual parts and installation info. Try again.

Mark Kubowitsch Thanks for the feedback. The reason I asked is because we were considering bringing back the audio podcasts in addition to the videos. Or as complimentary to the videos.

Thanks for the video. I found the kit at Home Depot for
fixing the vacuum breaker in my Matco Narca bib. When I tried to screw in the threaded
outer plastic part, it didn’t fit. The part looked exactly the same as the old
one but wrong thread or larger in diameter. Luckily, I was able to replace the
inner plastic valve part and the O-ring which took care of the leaky vacuum
    breaker.
I could be in trouble when and if I need to replace all four
    parts.

    • @phiksit
      @phiksit 4 года назад

Yes, because parts will probably not be available or cost as much as much as a completely new valve next time it breaks, which it will.

So dumb question but how do I figure out what brand or who the manufacturer is? I can't find anything on the spigot body.

When I shut off the spigot, some water keeps coming out of the hose. I shut it off again, and water continues to come out, only less. After I tighten it several times, the water finally stops. How do you fix that?

There is no stop-cock that supplies my outdoor faucet. So I have to turn off the mains, then dismantle the faucet, then try to find the various parts and install them, and all of this before I can turn the mains on again. Who was the genius who came up with this system?

    • @stevedoerfler4345
      @stevedoerfler4345 4 года назад +2

That was the time to install a shutoff on the inside just before the faucet. Been there did that.

"Mansfield/Pryor hose bib"? (Comment made by host at about 2'10".) Given the color & makeup of the handle and logo visible in the video, I believe it's actually a Muller Industries, BK Products, Pro-Line Series Quarter Master (quarter turn) frost free sillcock.

    GUYS,
RE : FROST FREE OUTSIDE HOSE SPIGOT...
What if your spigot is slow?
I have a 1/4 turn spigot which flows slow. Ever since we moved into this brand new mfg home in 2018
it has flowed slow. I tried to pull the mech out, but, it will not extract. The underbelly of my
home is lined with insulation in plastic. It will be a bear of a job to cut thru all that
    to get to the source.
    WHAT's a MOTHER TO DO ?
    !

Ours is leaking when water is turned off. Replaced the antsiphon kit and the inside rod washers. Still leaking, we have no accessible entry to see if the pipe is threaded or sodard, please help😟😞

A lot of times putting new rubber doesn’t stop the leak. This is because the “seat” inside is corroded. These thing are horrible and always leak. And 35$ Plus a lot of hassle

I have an ooooold nibco faucet (looks like frost free) that has a sort of wierd handle that looks like a flower or something. Can anybody confirm that after removing the packing nut, that the inner part should just screw out?? I cant seem to get it and I dont really want to bust it.

Open the faucet all the way. Water off 1st...
Take off handle, remove the plastic piece ( mine had left hand threads). Put the handle and screw the bolt part way into the stem, verify the stem is fully opened, pull the assembly out of the body. Replace seals, reassemble. Easy once you figure out how the faucet is disassembled. Worked great for me!

The reason these fail is the "NEW" style ( CRAP ) is cheap made, it's not cheap priced though, it is crap however. They make these all slightly different so you have to search till you get sick of buying stuff that does not work or only half assed works and you just go buy a brand new faucet assembly, which turns out to be just a few bucks more than the ridiculous plastic Chinese crap kit.
I have some old ones on a house in a different state that have been on there for over 15 years, no problem. in this state however, mine fails in the SUMMER, why? because the sun shines on it! it literally has no tolerance for the sun. so then what? Oh Yeah. they thought of this! Not that they make the damned faucet better though, they make another kit - Its a Freaking stupid looking Awning for the faucet! and guess what , it;s not cheap either, makes your water faucets all look like dryer vents.
I personally am sick of all this bull. the sun rots the cap of the top and the handle also if you don't get one with a metal handle.

Replacements for these faucets are $50-$80 at my local home hardware store. They said you can't buy just the parts to fix, only the whole thing.
I'm looking for my parts online now.

Like that term newer if after Clinton 1990, crap from China, my home was built in 1984 before all this crap from China was here. After 36 years, Mansfield Made in Ohio just required a new nickel washer. Kids home built in 2010, both his frost free faucets were shot with no replacement parts. Would cost him 150 bucks just to have a plumber, but his dad helped him with his propane torch.
Three story home with all copper and used lead solder, evaluated by the EPA, zero lead content in the water. Around 2000, EPA banned all leaded solder because crap from China was loading up our landfills. Drove us nuts in our electronic manufacturing plant that now is also in hellhole China, the lead free solder requires larger pads, requires much higher temperatures and doesn't last as long. But not finding copper in these new homes, buying garden hoses for all the plumbing wonder how long that crap will last behind walls.
Sure had some screwballs running our country and us older guys are correct when we say they don't make em like they use too.
