Worked great for me. Though my packing ring wasn't rubber, but a wax/thread material. I had to dig it out. And my new handle is harder to turn. But it works fine!

i had my faucet not turning completely off. I purchased a repair kit and replaced everything but the check valve. should i get back in there and replace it? i just didn't know how to remove the old one, from another video i now do. can i get away with it and leave as is or should i get in there and replace the check valve? thanks- Jr.
I think the pipe itself burst. When the spigot is off and there is pressure, water comes out from behind the escutcheon. I do not know how to access the other end of the hose bib. Can it be unscrewed from the outside with a wrench and replaced or do you have to tear open the wall?

The handle screw was seized up so bad to the aluminum handle, I couldn't get it off. So I left it on, loosened the nut that holds everything together, then I used my crescent wrench as a hammer, with the jaws on each side of the rod and gently tapped the thing apart. Put on a new washer, put it together, turned on the well pump, and it leaked just like before. Pulled it apart. The washer was just a little too small. Used the next size larger. 1/4". Put it together. Still leaked. I didn't have the screw that holds the washer in, tight enough. It's finally fixed. Thought I was going to have to replace it. Plenty of room in the crawl space, but there is galvanized pipe with a threaded union and the faucet pipe is copper, soldered to a threaded connector. So somebody is going to have to be outside yelling "turn it just a half turn more, the nozzle is pointing up". I'll go to the hardware store and see if I can get some kind of a flexible connection to get around that. Put in a ball cock valve too. BTW I thought about turning off the water to the outside spigots, but the well water (600 grains hardness), has corroded the shutoff valve so bad, I can't turn it. I'm planning to replace this faucet and add another one beside it. This one is hard well water, and the new one will be soft water from my softener, so maybe I can wash my car without it turning to a spotted mess. (or maybe not). You spray your car with hard water and it turns into an impossible mess.
When I removed mine in attempt to replace however, only the rod comes out with out anything else so I am thinking the rest of the stems are stuck in the pipe. How to proceed?
This might work great on a never used faucet. Ours is 20 years old and so corroded that even the little screw of the handle would not come off.
Hey Terry, great video of a disassembly of the valve. Do you know what would be causing the valve to pop out 3/8” when the water is turned on? I have to wiggle it just right and push in while I turn the handle to shut off the water. I would love to fix this instead of having to replace the whole spigot as I am concerned about this causing a bigger problem down the road. The line is in between floors with no direct access to see what’s going on behind the wall so this also adds a degree or two to the overall difficulty. I’m not sure what the best course of action is for this situation. I don’t know if this valve problem could be become worse or if it’s just a small nuisance taking more time to get the water to shut off.
After reinstalling and tightening the stem, it now spins counter-clockwise without stopping when turning on. Solution?

Mine was so old it has some kind of wax seal at the front, I cut that out and replaced it with the rubber one in the kit, seems to be working.

I can't get the long stem out. In our Woodford frost-proofaucet, could there be a threaded area at the far (inside) end of the stem?
I unscrewed it (counter-clockwise) untill it feels free but cannot pull it out.
Tap from behind with a hammer?
Another problem is that the new anti-siphon valve *_ || _* will fall down out of it's clear plastic holder which screws into the top of the faucet. Looks as though it would fall into the faucet if I were to try to install it.

The long stem( rod) won’t come out because there is a rubber check valve at the end of the rod attached to it. You can pull and wiggle the rod out or just give it a good yank. The repair kit will come with a new rubber check valve.
The plastic part on top is called a float and the easiest way to install it is align the little stem into the hole of the plastic float and the turn the faucet upside and hand twist the float in if you can to keep the smaller plastic piece aligned in the larger one if that’s possible. Otherwise you will just have to do your best installing the float into the top of the faucet right side up. It is essential the small stem is in the hole of the larger plastic piece during install or else it will leak.

Wife lefthe hose connected and water froze and splithe shaft. Replaced withew from Home Depot. Only regret is it must be turned many times for full ON.

Where can you get the parts. I heard there hard to find, easier to replace the whole thing. Which I have done several times in my lifetime.
How do I replace the top cap and the parts under it? That broke on my faucet.
Good job, short, sweet and to the point. I have a rental which has a corroded brass seat in the silcock caused by lime and mineral deposits. I can't get the seat out with a seat removal tool. When we replace the bib washer, the seat is so rough, it tears the bib washer up within days. Is there a tool I can use to maybe smooth out the brass seat without removing the entire silcock? I'll have to tear up an interior wall to remove the silcock to keep from twisting the copper pipe. The silcock pipe threads are also corroded. Any suggestions?

How do I replace the rod assembly if my screw head on the handle is stripped?
Hey Terry you did not replace the seal on the back of the inner washer housing. That rubber boot simply pulls off its seat, then pull it all the way off the tap end.
If the faucet leaks around the handle when the faucet is on, but doesn't leak at all when it's off, do I need to do this whole repair, or just the packing washer?

Mine leaks when handle is on, bone dry when odd. I tried tightening the screw and it still leaks. I’m gonna venture a guess that it’s the packing washer immediately behind the handle.

what if the head of the screw inside is rotted out and breaks?
When i turn my faucet on when nothing is attached it works ok but once a hose is attached it sprays water from the out from the faucet? What could be causing this?

Mine leaks from the top. There is a small plastic float that has a rubber seal that always cracks. Any idea where to buy these. Last time had to buy an entire assembly
Would that be a vacuum breaker? Search for another video for that easy repair.

My faucet wasn't leaking, it just kept spinning. Took of the handle, no issue there... its internal. I took it apart just like in the video...only that bottom part of the valve didn't come out with the rod assembly. Where do I go from here?
Same problem here! I've been trying for over a week, even unable to get it with Woodford's "retainer removal tool". It doesn't engage at all turning counter clockwise c (or clockwise)
How did you guys fix this?
@@craigpoland5645 The only fix, was to purchase and install a complete new assembly. Contacted the home builder, they got me in contact with the plumbing contractor... all sorted, think it was 60 bucks. All said and done.

Never mine.. I see there is a check valve down before the seat.. so remove that and you will be golden..

"you've matched up the proper size" - this is the problem with videos like this. How do I "match up" the size? I don't have a bunch of plumbing parts laying around. What size options are there If I go to a hardware store what do I ask for? And this video does nothing to explain WHY the faucet isn't working. It seems to assume a lot of knowledge that non-plumbers simply aren't likely to have.
I don't care to remove my packing nut.

Bad video!. That stem comes with 3 new washers, he only showed how to replace 2. He coudn' t even put the screw back in.
