    Whilst driving trains for BRITISH RAIL during the 1990s we didn't go on strike but had a "Work To Rule", which meant that the RULE BOOK was followed exactly. This meant that whilst preparing my train for service, everything and i mean EVERYTHING had to be present and correct. This meant that i had to check every last miniscule item during the 42 minutes allowed to prepare the ten carriage train ( two four car units and a two car unit ). During this time i cut my hand because a safety panel had fallen out of the emergency tool cupboard in the first cab. No problem, i'll use a plaster from the first aid box under the drivers' seat ( one per unit ). On checking there wasn't a single plaster anywhere on that train. I cancelled the train due to missing equipment. Also due to the on duty TRAIN FITTER taking his time to answer the phone i was reporting on, there were no spares or replacements. Thats five trips with a ten car train during morning rush hour with an average of a thousand people on board, cancelled. As i remember the Work to Rule lasted about a week, there were no recriminations as no rules had been broken, just enforced.

    Why is it that anybody anywhere puts up with their management or anybody higher up in the company physically yelling or screaming at them? This is the epitome of a hostile work environment and is illegal in most places. I mean there's absolutely no way I personally would put up with it and I have major anger management problems so I would probably end up getting locked up because of it but most other people should sue over it.

      I spent 20 years in the commercial aviation industry for an airline. It matches up! When working on the planes we were only required, however, to print the _relevant_ pages from the microfiche readers, (pre electronic manuals), for the particular work we were performing.

      @@nightdweller6446 Not dis the fiche! They worked well out on the tarmac & hangars! In the workshops, we had the actual paper manuals... The ones that were 10-15cm thick each & 20+ volumes. As against, load the right tape into the reader, scan through to the pages you needed & hit 'Print'. Grab those on a basic print & then recycle afterwards.

  • @jimmorris8879
    @jimmorris8879 3 года назад

    Printing manuals means you will then have an uncontrolled copy of the maintenance data and it is only valid at the time of printing. It can’t be used again for the next time. It is normally marked uncontrolled copy valid on at dat time. This means that it is illegal to use it again in case of updates...I’ve been in aviation long enough as remember when there was hard copies in cupboards. God I’m old...

    2) to fire manager you just talked with.
    3) for $50 gift card on your next $200 call
    4) Karen Bail Bondsman to bail Karen out of jail. (Free bailout on 10th jailing)

    Afternoon Redwheel!! Sorry I haven't said hi in a few days. Been resting after being under the weather, and yesterday before I could charge my phone 16k homes, including mine, lost power due to some inconsiderate drunk driver from what I heard decided to hit a main defenceless utility pole instead of a tree that can fight back!!! Least I think they can fight back. Seems I read some old insurance cases where either trees or utility poles jumped in front of cars!
