Good job Jeff the unit was probably overcharged before the tech corectly diagnosed a bad txv thinking it was low on charge. Maybe it was another company that's why you had so much difficulty pumping it down. There is the right way and a lazy way and the. Right way overcharging a system can make a txv go bad too.
sorry to hear about the truck - nice to see another MD boy on here - I almost got run off the road on the ICC 200 today -- person waved to apologize, which was kinda nice.. road rage sucks - and nice brazing job, having it follow the heat isn't something you see often enough anymore :)
Thanks brother. Yea that’s how my father taught me years ago. 🤙
It definitely does happen...in reviving the long dormant A/C system on a 1981 Allis Chalmers tractor, I spun the wheel and lost on the original TXV. I think the power head just lost its charge.
That compressor sure didn't sound happy at the end of the pump down! I couldn't hear the noise, so I don't know about that.
Good job. I Wish Carrier TXV's where 100% bolt on like most other brands are, then the only thing you have to braze is the dryer.
I’m with you on that!
Great job Jeff thanks for the video
Great video. Thank you for sharing. If you don't mind me asking ? May I ask ? How to know TVX was bad and need replace new TXV ?
I wasn’t the one who diagnosed this one but there’s a Couple different ways. First indication would be low suction pressure with high Subcooling. You can remove the txv bulb and warm it up with your hand and see if it opens fully and also put it in ice water and see if it closes.
Its a ghost lol maybe thats whats the noise was 😂😊
