You do realize that this battle would be over long before the fighters got into visual range, right? Each F-22 is capable of targeting multiple targets at once, as well as sharing targeting data with one another. Any missiles fired by the J-20s wouldn't even be able to track the F-22s in the first place, assuming they survived long enough to catch a brief glimpse of a bumblebee sized radar signature. Even if by some miracle a J-20 managed to catch visual sight of an F-22, the F-22 is the superior dogfighter with far better trained pilots.
This video more closely depicted a 4th Gen battle, maybe.

At the recent Saudi defense exhibition, J20 released its performance parameters, so let's compare the data of F22.
    1. Body length: J20 21M vs F22 19M
    2. Weight: J20 17T vs F22 19.7T (it can be seen that J20 has a larger volume than F22, but is lighter by 2T. More composite materials are used)
    3. Maximum range and combat radius: J20 5500km/2000km VS F22 3000km/900km
    4. Speed: J20 max2.2M VS f22 max2.2M
    5. Supersonic cruise: J20 1.8m vs F22 1.8m
    6. Maximum flight altitude: J20 22000M vs F22 22000M
    7. Air to air missiles: J20 (PL10/PL12/PL15) PL15 export model with a range of 150 kilometers, Chinese military exclusive model with a range of 200 kilometers VS F22 (AIM-9/AIM120D/) AIM120D with a range of 160 kilometers
It is unknown whether the latest AIM120D can fit into the magazines of F22 and F35. But the Chinese military's PL15 is a dual pulse missile that maintains high speed throughout the entire process.
    8. Radar: J20: Active phased array radar made of gallium nitride material with 2300 T/R modules; F22: Active phased array radar made of gallium arsenide material with 2000 T/R modules
The latest F35 radar will be gallium nitride radar, but China's latest radar material will soon use gallium oxide radar, and its performance will be several times higher than that of gallium nitride radar.
The J20 and F22 are both outdated fighter jets, but the body design of the J20 allows it to constantly upgrade and improve. And many special operations specific models have emerged, such as the two seater model and so on! And now the performance of J20 is still using WS-10C aviation engine. If the latest WS-15 aviation engine is replaced, I believe the maximum flight speed of the aircraft will be increased to 2.5M-2.8M, and the combat radius will increase by 200-300 kilometers. The aircraft's load will also increase.
Looking forward to the showdown between J35 and F35.

The biggest advantage the F-22 is that it can detect AND target the J-20 at a much longer distance by a factor of 3 before the J-20 can detect, much less target the F-22.

Do you know why? we've only fought third-world countries that solely rely on suicidal tactics. ALL they had was 1991 Tacomas and AK-47s. Of course, we'll look great against a country with no defense system or proper military. I get the American pride but the comments are just silly. Only the two PL-10 IR missiles are fitted with the flip out launchers and that’s not an issue because being within visual range missiles both the J20 and the F-22 would be close enough that they could get a radar return off the other regardless.
Also not sure where you got your idea of the aircraft not being stealth or that the missiles don’t work because all the information coming out of western analysts & militaries are more than a little concerned about its capabilities. One thing the F-22 have over the j-20 is it is more stealthy than the J-20.
The secret of the F-22 stealth is its radar, in a normal fighter once you turn on your radar to search and engage the the enemy, they will pick up your radar signals and know exactly where you are, but not the F-22 .
The F-22 radar signals are undetectable by the enemy while they being lock on, the only time the enemy know the F-22 are there is when they get blow up. How did the F-22 radar achieved that stealthy is classified.

At the end of the day I think it was just a little harder to marry the Russian style core with the American style stealth properties and tradeoffs have to be made, but I still give them 4 1/2 stars - it’s a pretty killer implementation I think it’s certainly noteworthy.
The statements elsewhere though that the canards don’t affect the stealth properties is totally misguided and incorrect - canards by definition degrade stealth properties, but they can be made to do so as little as possible and what one commenter referred to as “aligning the edges” is not what happens. The entire stealth profile is a singular profile, the canards included, their effect on the stealth profile will necessarily cause alterations to other design features in that stealth profile - again this can be done very effectively but never perfectly. Remember when thinking in “aligning edges” that all possible relative angles from either point of view must be as ideal a profile as possible, this has nothing to do with aligning edges as at other angles they will be misaligned - the canards have to be worked into every aspect of the stealth profile and this necessarily a limiting factor…

Hey bro. Chinese pilots are extremely well trained. In fact, in the last two years it has REALLY become top notch. J-20 had fully integrated and trained with all platforms in all scenarios. The extent and capabilities continually improve.
Secondly, the J-20 has many distinct advantages over the F-22. First being the J-20S is double seater. Video stated J-20 but just saying the J-20 fleet will be mostly J-20S 's. It s good portion will be, because double seater increases kill capabilities. Reason being is that the J-20 brings in so many data hard points for the pilot to manage effectively.
Third is missiles. China undoubtedly had much superior missile reach then USA. Pl-10 and Pl-15 would've taken out, I would estimate 75-85% of the F-22'S on the first pass, easy. China's radar, at worst equal to F-22. Thought I know it's better I obviously can't prove it.
Check out Millennium+7 on you tube for a better insight into the J-20. Also Chinese Forces on YT is pretty decent for J-20 info..

I always hear US Pilots are better trained. During the Korean War Chine and Russian produced many times more aces then US had a kill ration of 1-1 the 10-1 kill ratio that US has been peddling since the war is pure propoganda. Highest scoring Russian Ace had 25 Kills compared to US top scorer with 15-16 kills additionally In Vietnam US produced only 2 aces (Pilots not WSO) Vietnam produced 6 aces considering it had only 200 aircrafts at any given time and most were obsolete against state of the art latest US fighters .US Pilots only fly 9-11 hours per month which is not even enough to maintain any proficiency. ( Per USAF Chief or Staff General Goldfien) It's pure fantasy to assert US Pilots are the best it depends on individual, resolve and skill not the country he is from. China has 200 J-20s in operation and growing every month. US has 140 combat capable F-22 with 20 year old tech no HMD or targeting no IRST shorter range missiles compared to Chinese more advanced and longer range missiles. US pilot are not the best or with the best training.

No evidence to suggest the Chinese managed to match the APG-77 even tho it is an older radar. America already has the APG-81, APG-83 and the APG-85 which will be going in F-35. Each Dragon would have to fire 2-3 times, assuming they could even get a target lock, to get a single Raptor, and that would be their undoing. The Dragons are underpowered and, even if their pilots had more training and knew to drop to dense air, they wouldnt be able to avoid the eventual outcome of having a more nibble and powered opponent. Certainly, some Raptors would be killed, given their are 50 drags, but not many.

By the time the J20’s knew the F22’s were there, they’d be exploding.
Although I’m certainly biased as an American, I think there’s a very legitimate case to be made that if this theoretical confrontation took place over open ocean, the F22’s could eliminate most if not all of the J20’s without a single loss. Any J20’s not eliminated with the first volley of missiles at BVR, would be immediately engaged by the 2nd volley of missiles. The J20’s wouldn’t have anything to shoot at for far too long during this battle to survive, let alone mount a solid counter strike. With the most recent iterations of the US missile having a roughly 80% probability of kill, with those numbers projected to be higher when shot from the 5th generation F22, leaves a daunting situation for the J20’s. If you just saw 40 of your colleagues vaporized, I think you’d bug out quick, but it might already be too late. Regardless, I hope we never learn how this scenario would play out in real life. Last thing we want is another damn war, especially with a massive, well funded and technologically ascending China, even if they do lack recent combat experience.

It's about the Engine nacelles. Look at them (I'm in the business, so I know a bit). The Chengdu has exposed conventional circular thrust venturis on the engine. The reason both F22 and F35 don't is to prevent radar emissions. The F22 is faceted planar and the F35 uses "dogtooth" facets on the engine outlet.
      But whatever.

2 things that will render the F22 a complete loser in any aerial encounter between F22 and J20. J20 is now equipped with twin-seat with the pilot in the back seat operating a fleet of UAVs. That latter while increasing the payload of any mission will target all high value airborne targets like AWACs. China has a long range air-to-air PL15 missiles up to 300 KM. And by 2030s, no one will even make the same comparison as the entire fleet of F22 will be phase out then.

I'm not a fan of the US military since it is owned and directed by the owners of the Centralized Banking cartel, but this is nothing like how it would happen. First, it would have to be in China, because China cannot reach the US with their fighters or transport the 50 in a short enough time. The US could move 50 F-22's (if they were working) to South Korea.
The F-22's would be getting missile lock on the J-20's early on and take them out in a high rate. The few that survived, if any would not be able to get a missile lock on the F-22's. The F-22's would have continued with second and third salvo and that really would be it. The J-20 that was left would be forced to rely on guns and skill. He is then remembered by his country for his service as another missile from an F-22 removes him from the threat list. The F-22's have not even reached line of sight yet.
The only one that can currently defeat a group of 50 F-22's is the US President and Congress, and they did.

If this were real (and it wouldn't be because f-22's aren't meant for formation engagements) the f-22's would have fired their missiles long before the j20's had any clue where the f-22's were. The j20's wouldn't be alerted to the f-22's until they saw missile trails closing fast. By then, the j20's wouldn't have more than a few seconds to maneuver or fire flares which the flares would likely not break missile lock anyways.
