I've watched the last 2 episodes, didn't know this show existed. It's like watching infants put together a space shuttle.

When Mercedes got picked up by the boat she shouldn’t have been allowed to return, she should have been classed as dead to the group and sent home.
So the bigger lady doesn’t do anything for four days then all of a sudden has the energy to swim, then needs to be rescued. When she gets back to the base camp, she is told to come get some fish but too lazy to walk to the fire and get some, and then has the gall to be angry they didn’t “save her some“. They most certainly did maybe if she had paid attention and work as a team member instead of a lazy cow she’d be getting stuff done and have food to eat. She is a big mouth and doesn’t work as a team member

Bro have you ever tried hunting with machetes on a deserted island? Not as easy or fruitful as you would think. They were running out of food and they needed another option.

Big girl down is not really surprising. Nor was finding herself at the receiving end of animosity. It was inevitable that at some point the smiles and laughs wouldn't be enough in a survival situation. Pretty sure the snob mob felt obligated to invite her over and offer her a meal since they invited her on the 3 hour cruise that ended so badly. Can't wait for the next episode. I'm loving this!

No, they need to make trotlines, i.e one long line with multiple hooks spaced out along it. Run it from a point back to the beach, or around the mangroves. Check it 2-3 times a day. Also make some fish trap baskets to put out off the points and mangroves.
@@stanmann356 Got to pull them in every 6 hours too. Any fish on a line too long will either die and rot or get eaten by other fish. Same with baskets. How they fish isn't the issue, it's the fact that they don't fish that annoys me. Boat owner here.
@@lastpenny849 I agree they need to be checked often, but how they fish IS important. The methods I suggested give 24/7 coverage, but don't tie anyone up the whole time and lets them do other things. The net can be effective as well, as long as it's placed correctly. The main thing is you can't catch fish unless they are there to be caught. IMHO the mangroves should have the highest fish concentrations, followed by the rocky points.
Damn that exact same net sure does show up like clockwork every season.

@@DemstarAus if you look back it has the same foam, length and shape/color and size. It's the same one. Same as a couple of the "fish" they keep catching. I actually live on an island so I know full well what does and doesn't wash up.

He says in every episode that he makes sure they have the means to survive. This is also very old. Meaning he procures and places everything on the island.
I mean seriously, what where they thinking? That "raft" was more like a submarine. You couldn't paddle that thing across a calm lake, let alone the open sea. And what exactly were they hoping to find on that little island? A buffet?
they have the biggest island already, explored 5% of it. Lets go swim 5 miles to the small ass island in rough shark invested waters. Really smart brain move. i wouldve kicked the fat girl out as soon the 2nd day of doing nothing has ended.

The stereotype of fat people is a stereotype for a reason. Mercedes ended up exactly where everybody was thinking day one. A complete drain on resources followed by quitting, having been no benefit to either group.
One of the few occasions in life where someone can loudly and proudly proclaim "I've Got Crabs!" and be loved and celebrated like a conquering hero instead of being scorned, humiliated and treated like a Leper by everyone else. 🤣

Haha quite literally just went to the comment section a few seconds after having watched her sitting flat on her ass in camp, while the others went foraging, trying to convince herself that USUALLY shes the one on the go getting things done And I'm actually concerned that she might be dumb enough to gaslight herself. There are very real systemic barriers that prevent people from exiting poverty that all the self-discipline in the world will never change. It’s so disturbing that people still believe the world is this magically just place and that everyone magically gets what they deserve.

If the Job is less physically demanding then you have to supplement that with physical exercise out side of work or as much as you can at work. It is her mental attitude that causes her weight gain with no self discipline.

Mercedes couldnt even untie a fish net for her team or do any activities to help complained of hiking but could swim to another island 😂

At least she's self-aware, but it sucks that she can't just admit to her group that she has done nothing to help until episode 3 (whatever week that is). Because that has often been a contentious issue, yet clearly she has known all along that she was not helping out at all, and is thus both guilty of the accusation, and the resultanlt fallout caused by her denial.
Not saying she is a bad person, but that's not a great trait to have.
Big girl learned a lot about herself.. And how other people experience her behavior..

I’m taking about how much weight she put on in just 3 years when she went from a full time swimming instructor to work for the family business. Go back and look at the photo of her before she switch jobs.

It was really sweet how Barnes and Mercedes got along. I like how Barnes recognizes that his life of privilege is leaving him wanting and how he needs the challenge. If I could make as much as he does in a relatively short period of time, I'd be out more often. I enjoy going to challenging places in the world and meeting people in different circumstances. I've been from the slums of India to the palaces of the Middle East. Surviving on a tropical island would be a challenge indeed.
I hope Barnes grows through this experience and seeks out more. I had hoped that Mercedes would too.

@@documentariesbycategory1483 Thank you! Digging a little area for water to flow during a rainstorm and for a huge gulley right down the beach, line it with some 'stuff' and make a bit of a fish funnel with some pokey sticks.
Actually in season 2 they used traps!
The men used a trap to catch and kill a crocodile
The females found a sedated pig in a "trap" built by the producers

There are lots of food in there crabs in the mangroves ,flesh of coconut you can grill so delicious and many other just think think and pray for guidance.

I don’t like how they are always crying about how hard it is. I mean haven’t they watched past seasons? Also don’t understand why they never seemed to have research edible plants and how to trap birds and stuff. I know it’s not easy but at least they could try.

I’m watching this and thinking, why not dig a pit for the piggies on the island? Surely a better use of energy? If that iguana was so easy to catch, why not catch more? That island would have easier to get to closer to the island ? There would be NO way you could have got me on that “raft” - it’s a terrible thing.

don't know about that, but the snake, chicken and iguana seemed quite easy to catch
Actualy there are some species of saltwater catfish such as the hardhead catfish wich seems to be the one captured
there is a catfish that is seawater but that iguana and turkey they caught on the show is immobile more to say they are more domesticated than wild because I hunt wild bird, iguana, monitor lizard before. Usually wild animals are extremely fast and agile and sometimes they fight back
Apparently the rich team forgot how pissed off they were at Mercedes and a couple of the others on the poor team for just sitting out in the ocean on the first day while they were busy making a shelter, and then the poor team raced in and took it over, leaving them all to sit out in the rain. If she hadn't left, they would have all turned on her again the moment she displayed her lazy ways again.

Tbh they a bunch of idiot. First they decided to went on the raft while the ocean literally telling them is not good day to go on raft.. 2nd they let the fat woman to go with them, really? Idk if this is part of the script to make more drama to the show.. if you have common sense you will see everything they does was wrong unless is the part of the script.
I think that depends on how overweight they are. Someone who is 20 pounds overweight, but active will probably have an easier time than a slender person, or a person who is 100 pounds overweight.
