At 12:16, it would be far more efficient and supportive for the group if someone who could weave (like the guy who told him that he's doing it wrong) simply stood up and showed him the proper way to weave. This approach not only saves everyone time but also helps him feel like a valuable member of the team, rather than someone incapable of contributing due to a lack of skills. Weaving is an incredibly simple skill to teach, taking merely about five minutes. Yet, instead of offering guidance, they choose to mock him and urge him to "man up." This situation isn't about toughening up; it's about learning a skill that needs to be taught.
@bitemyshite That's understandable, but it still won't help the group. How is he supposed to do work for the group if he doesn't know how? They're in it together and they need to help each other to be more productive.
This shows 1 important aspect of survival. Innovation. In all societies, you need someone to be innovative and break the norm. While yes they might not be the most liked, after failure and failure and failure eventually they succeed and improve the rest of society.

Not sure about Grylls' fearmongering about Autophagy. It's a cellular process that is almost constantly occuring and fasting increases it dramatically and it's shown to have numerous health benefits. Japanese dude won the nobel prize back in the mid 2010's for discovering it. Autophagy =/= starvation.
That's precisely what crossed my mind when he mentioned it. True, autophagy is heightened during fasting, but it's likely they've been experiencing increased autophagy since day 2, which isn't particularly remarkable. Elevated autophagy can actually be quite beneficial for your health. It's a completely natural process that everyone should experience occasionally in order to maintain good health. This process of cellular cleaning and renewal plays a crucial role in our overall well-being. The real danger lies in the "starvation metabolism," which typically occurs when a person's body fat drops below 4% and they have almost no skeletal muscle left. At this stage, the body begins to consume its internal organs. It's not just skeletal muscle and fat tissue being broken down, but also the heart muscle and other vital organs, in a desperate attempt to survive a bit longer. These losses can be recovered if one starts eating again, but without nourishment, death is inevitable.
@@Marco_My_Words there's pretty good evidence that the increase in autophagy from a 72 hour fast is extremely beneficial for people going through chemotherapy as well
I see where Vic and Sam coming from, Vic got the experience and proof that the net has failed already but then again failure is what makes us human of today. We learned from our mistake and try again. It's really leaning towards Vic since every man power is needed and you can't waste energy on something that will not guarantee good result.
That's because when you want to catch fish using those net the the high success rate of catching is actually around 4 am to 6am then 5pm to 7pm and try to know the strongness of the current which can be predictive by how big the moon but still there a time that the current is still strong which is easily known by observing how big the tides are..
reminder how such accidental injuries could be a death sentence in the past. If not for tetanus and subsequent sepsis when left untreated (many cultures did have some anti-biotic stuff they used on wounds, even though not really understand how, like honey or certain plants) the torn tendon in his dominant arm would severly limit him
I’m yet to see a team that establishes daily routines, and day by day plans of what they need to do to survive. It’s usually addicting efforts, always from scratch, nothing planned, and they do it in weird times. You gotta accept that you’ll not have much energy after the first couple days, so you need to do the heavy lifting then, make camp, find water source, make sure you’re established. Then you need to find constant and sustainable food sources, when you don’t just go out and get lucky, but you are trying to repeat the daily work. Sure at least Vic goes fishing, but it is only one source, not reliable, you need to find other sources too, and day by day repeat the method. That is only working with a daily schedule! Then you gotta accept you’ll not sleep much at night time, so why not sleep at lunch, from 11am to 2pm, when it is warm anyways, and you’ll not have energy. Not to mention it is warm, so you can sleep without shivering, and during the day most critters are also sleeping so you wouldn’t be bothered. They have lights, so no reason why they cannot work at night with things that wouldn’t require a lot of visibility. And then lastly, you gotta plan out when certain things can be done, you cannot expect to go fishing and catch fish at daylight, fish also hides during the warm times, not to mention they are scared away by shadow over the water, so if they see your shadow, they will not bite. Again, all that planning, I miss. Sure might be missed from the videos, because it is a more boring side of the survival, but still, I don’t see it in any of the seasons, not even the result of something like that. + one thing, not everyone has the same energy levels and talents, so try to find for everyone what they are good at, if it is simply sitting in one place, give them something they can repair, mend, or create while sitting… you cannot expect that everyone will put in the same and equal effort and energy, it would be simply mayhem. But again, I don’t see this happening either, it is just constant decay and trying to wait it out until they can go home.
Its easy to say than done. None of them, have good experience with this kind of thing, even if some have a bit, like Vics, it could happen differently. Its possible if its your friends, or a designated team, but a random strangers with different backgrounds, jobs, personality and prejudice, its isnt as easy as us watching (you can see it yourself in the episodes). Malnourished, dehydration and hunger, takes lots of toll not only on the body but also your mental. Your thinking capabilities isnt normal. One might think to have a routine (like Will mentioned) but you can see from the others POV that some of them rejected the idea. Its possible, but only in a perfect situation or a sandbox well planned survival. What you have seen is what most 'normal people' will do in a survival mode.
@@haku9815 but it IS a perfect sandbox survival situation... they know what they are going to do, they know what they are up to, well before it happens, they get a day of training, and they also get tons of support that helps them to start. You're not gonna get a better option for a survival situation, one might even say, it's perfect. Yeah, I got it how many were simply obsessed by Vic's fishing capabilities and translated that to being the best survival, and you gotta give him he does have a talent to fishing among a lot of other things, but he was actually one of the participants that put them for way too long in a worse situation, because of his constant bickering, his demeanor, attitude, and because even if everyone should be doing what they are best at, he simply refused to do that for a whole day, in a life and death situation. If that indeed wasn't the perfect sandbox survival situation, that would have been the stamp on their death wish. Doesn't matter that the others didn't pull as much of their weight or at least not in the manner that Vic wanted it, him suddenly, without any warning or discussion just refusing to do what he is good at, it's childish and dangerous. But since this is not a real survival situation, but a show where drama is necessary, it didn't mean their end. In a way, I see your point, you're right that many things affect how one works, and I do agree with this, that's why I wrote that you gotta plan ahead and do the hard lifting BEFORE the exhaustion hits in, and focus your energy well. And the fact that they cannot plan, or establish a daily routine is actually the failure of all the "alpha" males and females who want to prove they can single handedly do it all, and when they get tired they start to whine about everything and they go on a tantrum.
@@VagabondTurtle I understand where you're coming from. And your whole point about Vics itself proves the imperfection and lack of a Sandbox where most variable are not in control. Mother nature in tropical island itself is a wreck, the people is a whole lot more wrecked, they have to figure it out, TOGETHER. The main reason its so hard to plan ahead of everything itself is due to the random mother nature and of course we human personalities. Its easy to communicate, comprehend and tolerate between 3-5 people, but psychologically its hard to do it with 11-14 people, especially with those soup mix backgrounds, thats why a team usually consist of 4-5 people. The things about choosing a leader nor someone who they can trust, is earned through hardship and experience, that thing itself couldn't be done withing few hours or days into the island. Before you get it sort out, things would dramatically be in wreck first, as you can see in their situation. Cus heck nobody got much time when its monsoon so suddenly and you havent done pretty much the basic rules of 3.
Autophagy is not when the body starts to eats itself - it repurposes unused and damaged cells. It's healthy and that's not what's going on in this episode.
why aint they setting the caiman snare no more? That was the easy win right there the pond was full of 'em. Net, rod, snare, pitt for pigs, water, wood, fire, shelter. Rinse, repeat.
didnt you see they need to keep replacing the leaves either due to hot weather (the leave wilt so fast) or storm/monsoon? and they havent gotten much energy bruh just eating those small stuffs.
In reality, in an actual stranding, there’s a good chance a wound like that would have killed him through infection, or of he was lucky enough not to get infected, it would greatly affect his ability to complete many of the daily tasks. And in all honesty, there’s no point in taking the risk of a life long injury for a temporary scenario.

Looks like I have an unpopular opinion, but Vic isn't REALLY a great leader thus far. Sure, he carrys the islanders along and is very well skilled. But it seems he's more interested in calling everybody lazy and intitled instead of actually pulling the group together and educating them. He keeps making sniddy remarks that aren't really necessary, like Sam's upbringing for example, to the point where it's almost lowkey bullying. A good leader wouldn't discriminate a team member because he's a "soft southerner". A few weeks ago he was complaining of nobody putting in effort for fishing/hunting, and now he's complaining that people are? Idk, he's by far the most resilient but his skills in motivation and team spirit are lacking and that can really impact the group.

@bitemyshite
That's understandable, but it still won't help the group. How is he supposed to do work for the group if he doesn't know how? They're in it together and they need to help each other to be more productive.
I'm impressed they keep the fire burning for a month
True definition of never giving up sam ❤️ my favourite character in this show 👏 😊
This shows 1 important aspect of survival. Innovation.
In all societies, you need someone to be innovative and break the norm. While yes they might not be the most liked, after failure and failure and failure eventually they succeed and improve the rest of society.
Reminds me of Flik from A Bugs Life.
What is the opposite of a sympathetic nice and humble character? - Vic.
32:07 such a heart warming moment.
Riddicilous how mutch they give the girls and stagebut for the guys the rules are rockhard even when he almost lost his arm he is not allowed back .
If the boys played by the girls rules it would be easy and boring, if the girls played by the boys rules they wouldn't have lasted three days. So they make little adjustments to keep it watchable.
@brendanmichel5313 little adjustments like supporting the woman 100 percent more than the men? That's just cheating really.
He was just not losing an arm. It was just not that bad😂
Edit- I know it can be worse than it looks. But, I’ve had broken bones, severed artery’s, and never been to the hospital. I came out fine. I don’t get why they made him go, even after he got the surgery…
lol if you think they didnt give anything to the men you're deluded. That croc was a set up and notice hopw they never actually show vic catching any of the fish be brings in. They just dont make it as obvious.
@TheBabylane2 ah yes, the great conspiracy to make men look more capable of surviving than woman. Because that's an actual thing that happens.
Yooo when they were working their ass off to secure the camp and that one foo was just watching the sun set………… it would have been straight up fucking hands bro lmfao😂
How was there no fist fights frl??
32:07 Sam just ranked up from stranger to survivor.
the girls a sedated pig , beaked beans and fish from fishermen , while the boys need to do it all by them self
I'm glad I wasn't the only one saying pig was sedated
Hard landing....big risk....lessons to be learned....survival is round the clock non stop....and turn fatigue into your Allie.Great show of the modern world pitted against nature and from the distance we find ourselves.5/5!
traps arent a waste of time.. but a trap should be something you set, and then leave... do something else and then check on it occasionally its not supposed to be, set a trap and sit there all day watching it... cos that sounds like he just wants an easy time
We need worker class and we also need creative class as well... That's what sam proved!
😂😂😂
our vic has gone up himself, he wont teach the others to fish, he loves the daily pat on the back.
It's a miracle that Will is alive... After this dangerous climbing activity...
man a fokin daredevil
no profesional climber would climb that
I mean Vic can have his opinion and founded or unfounded trust in someone he barely has gotten to know on a personal level, but the other guy could just ignore it and let it dissolve. The wonderful thing about a gift is you dont have to accept it… 😂
Thats episode makes me very happy. The man camp is a joy when things gonna right way
The really sad part is he will likely have to wait about a month before the surgery will take place.
Men's Island Episode: Thriller and Suspense

Would love to see a drunken Vick 😂
Seems like a very troublesome drinking partner 😂
Fucking hell, i had goosebumps when they pulled out the nets, such a great moment
The posh one thinking meeting the queen is some accomplishment 😂
Hahahaha true, imagine thinking meeting someones grandma is impressive.
The royals got lucky being born into their family. The rest of us earn our place.
The king forgot to pull out his penis in time and it was this sperm that first reached the egg. It was the first and last time this man tried. This is his lifetime achievement.
Show has matured by now
4:11 TRIBE: Clear leader has appeared, short and concise. Brilliant.
Almost 6hrs deep into this unreal binge thankfully i got tomorrow off 😅
Vic can be aan asshole at times. But he is honest. And know when to say he fucked up and aknowledge others. Gotta give it to him.

Not sure about Grylls' fearmongering about Autophagy.
It's a cellular process that is almost constantly occuring and fasting increases it dramatically and it's shown to have numerous health benefits.
Japanese dude won the nobel prize back in the mid 2010's for discovering it.
Autophagy =/= starvation.
Thank you for addressing this. When I heard him say that I was like... naaah.
@@nigelhutchinson5332 A little knowledge is dangerous huh
I hope Dan is enjoying his new, what MUST be modeling, career. The man is absolutely stunning.
Men on the island mafe a pretty good job. Really impressive realistic and inspiring. The teamwork shaped step by step no easily but surely
Vic is that guy in the group whose lived through everything and tries to teach lessons with tough love
18:39 "Yorkshire, born and bread" - Vic
Its wild how different areas have their own accents.
If not for tetanus and subsequent sepsis when left untreated (many cultures did have some anti-biotic stuff they used on wounds, even though not really understand how, like honey or certain plants) the torn tendon in his dominant arm would severly limit him
The net is getting bigger each episode
Where’s the fisherman to give them fish? The sleeping pigs? The self cleaning water can?
Vic... a down to earth Man, who knows wahat work is like...and self encouragement !!!

Finally an episode with the boys!!!! I can’t watch the women episodes.
Their episodes is really boring
@@SepehrraI find their failures to be pretty entertaining
I laugh at them being dehydrated and hungry like no duh go hunt go find water fav part where one girl just collapses on a rock
Autophagy is not when the body starts to eats itself - it repurposes unused and damaged cells. It's healthy and that's not what's going on in this episode.
the problem is that they do not have a clear leader vote by the group, the default leader is Vic...
This show loves to plant food (piglets for the girls) jamming fish in the nets to turn the show around to a positive! 😂
why aint they setting the caiman snare no more? That was the easy win right there the pond was full of 'em. Net, rod, snare, pitt for pigs, water, wood, fire, shelter. Rinse, repeat.
What a rollercoaster of an episode
Sam is a lazy guy but positive with his smile
I don't understand how you can be on an island for weeks and not create a proper roof over your head.
Probably not enough energie. Plus like we saw in this episode the leaves have to be replaced so it takes away even more time.
didnt you see they need to keep replacing the leaves either due to hot weather (the leave wilt so fast) or storm/monsoon? and they havent gotten much energy bruh just eating those small stuffs.
Kyle is always chilling lol
In reality, in an actual stranding, there’s a good chance a wound like that would have killed him through infection, or of he was lucky enough not to get infected, it would greatly affect his ability to complete many of the daily tasks. And in all honesty, there’s no point in taking the risk of a life long injury for a temporary scenario.
"..so, no, sorry, i don't trust ya" 💯
I wish we can see these guys now in one setting
they dont have enough research before coming there😅😂
25:30 What a legend.
Such a great metaphor
I can't believe no one screamed Wilson hard and long on these episodes...
Sam never give up and that is hard work that people sometimes not appreciate until he got the fruit
6:07 anything that eats carrion generally will taste awful.. im not sure its a good idea to specifically target vultures... if the opportunity arises, fine.. but if it were me i'd hunt other things..
Will was the best person there, closely followed by Ross, Barney, Sam F and Sam B. Vic was good at surviving but just not sure he was the nicest person. Seemed to pick a fight with pretty much everyone, just appeared a bit annoying
21:06 vic smile is priceless 😂😂
I absolutely love Dan 😂. Just look at his reaction at 18:17 🤣
I might be wrong but Sam Farmer owes the scuba diver some cash for those fish when this is over.
No?
How do you not know to pick up the net first thing in the morning?
Guys if you ever join this kind of show, for the love of all ever, wake up early and use the whole day grafting. Sleep early so you'll savor the cold night. 11am is just crazy since by 6pm it's gonna be night time already in there.
Love these videos
Most men I know would have turned this into a vacation. They would have had to drag us away when it was over.
where is the pigs?
They were planted there by producers for the women.
10000% a fish caught in a net for 8 hours wouldn’t be off. Super fixed episodes that are still entertaining to watch
They don't know when the fish got caught mabye it got caught at night Time or even the evening
Fish can be caught the moment you set the nets so yes they can go off
So the net kills them it doesn't trap them? 😂
@@xgtwb6473 think they die from suffocating because they can't swim / move to get oxygen through their gills (is the case for sharks at least) , and because it's so warm decomposition is much quicker than would be in cold water I'd guess.
I call bull crap. I been fishing since I was a kid. Fish dont go "bad" that quick. If they did, no one around the world would be eating them. It's made up for the show.. At least some of it has to be.
Sam farmer has Adhd, its obv, he works hard on the things he wants to and thats an effect of it. but also the sunset and him sidetracking go see it. also he was playing with his feet inthe sand wen will was tlaking to him. thats the reasons why hes been like that
7:12 "Dan! I'm hiding for a vulture!"
Will leaving is basically a death. This must feel almost worse.
Did someone tell them when there was fish in the net?? It seems really strange that 4 of them would all of a sudden decide to pull in the net together, when it was always a 2 man job before?
Maybe they needed four guys due to lacking strength from starvation.
The whole series is bullshit mate. Do not believe the television. Never believe the television.
Everyones on vics dic but you gotta give a big ups to dan. Hes glued the team together so much
That at the end was waaay to risky. 😅
Wish I am given such a chance to experience this survival experience
Fix him up and bring him back, its not like he wants to leave🤷🏻♀️
If thats possible that is 🤔
If he actually cut a tendon it takes surgery and then months for that to heal
