The author (Mahadevi Verma), is a principal of a School, one day a father along with her daughter comes to school for the admission of her daughter. The father hands over the filled application form to Mahadevi Verma Ji, but Mahadevi Verma ji gets a bit shocked after seeing the age of the daughter, that’s filled by the father in the application. Because the girl by her physical appearance did not seem to be of the age that the father entered, hence she gives the application form back to the father asking to correct the age, but the father said this is the correct age, & the father added a statement, I have my second wife, who is the stepmother of this girl, and you must be knowing …..
This statement takes Mahadevi Verma Ji back into her childhood memories, when she was a small kid & she had a friend named Binda next to her home. Even she was very small & weak as the girl who had come for admission, & also even she had a stepmother.
Mahadevi Verma Ji recalls about her childhood friend Binda, & narrates about Binda’s life & her struggles.
