All these bands are going back and talking about WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO BE YOUNG. They're not trying to be something else. They're very much themselves still. XTE Productions I like that too but enema is the one I just always gravitate too! Reminds me so much of being 17 and at college! (I went to college in 2005)
When they said the new album was gonna be much darker like the Self Titled album, I guess I expected them to drop the more poppy sound of their new music. But that’s on me they never said that, that’s just what I was expecting. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad either, very catchy. The rest of the album could be very different as well.

@@GhoulNamedDeath I know. It's not really that different though. They already did a more poppy sound on Neighborhoods and California. Even the darker pop sound they seem to go for here was done on California deluxe. They could have compared that to untitled and I would have been more fine with it
I like it. Gate keeping on a band doesn't make you or them better. It wont bring back nostalgia or force a band to play the sound you like. Bands are made of people. People mature and grow. Their sound changes over time. If you were a "fan", then it shouldn't bother you. Cheers bubs, to the sounds in your heads.
You have your right to love this song. I hate the song. I think it’s terrible. However, I can’t stand the “if you’re truly a fan” argument. A fan can criticize works that they don’t particularly like. If nobody criticized things then music movies and video games would terrible today.
I like the song, but I agree that it doesn’t make you less of a fan to criticize or dislike it. I still like their old stuff better, but I can easily jam to this. I’d also be curious to see what a person who had never heard a blink song would think of this. At that point there would be no Tom to compare to.
Ethan Cowlbeck that would be interesting. However I’m not comparing this to Tom. I’m comparing it to the album this not 3 years ago. That record was 10x better than this. I actually thought California was a solid 8/10 great record. Not sure about this new album though now.
Braille McLoughlin we are a hard group to please haha. California was great imo. I didn’t understand the hate for that record. But I can fully understand the anger toward this track. My issue is it just lyrically isn’t up to snuff and the chorus is so bland. Considering there is 7 credited lyricists/writers on this track, that’s sad. Blink needs to go back to it just being the three of them writing and it’ll turn out much better I’m sure. They proved it in California.
Not the blink that i know... but its still pretty good... we have to understand that as time goes on.. so does the music... it kinda matures and evolves into something... the summation of all the years doing what you love

Crazy comments, you read the lyrics and this is what blink was always about, relating to key moments of your life specially youth. Of course, their fans are not 15 anymore and music has evolved, so they did accordingly. Nice song.
The music may have evolved but the lyrics haven't. My problem with the song is that it seems disingenuous, like he's trying to write rebelious lyrics but he has nothing to rebel against. It's almost like they're pandering to their older fans who still haven't grown up. Also this song instrumentally is horrible, it's bland and tasteless which is suprising when you consider that this is a blink 182 song. It sounds like a boring pop song that could have been written by anyone. But i mean if you enjoy it more power to you, maybe it's just me or something.
@@lucasbaum2228 when someone arguments like you did you have to value that. It is enjoyable, it is relatable and it is blink
I’m no music critic but here are my gripes: -The flow is predictable. You always know what the next verse is going to be. It feels like mark is doing all the lyric writing while Matt copies what mark did but makes it “different”. -It feels like there trying to do what FOB did almost a decade ago, change there genre. There’s a 6 letter word that comes to mind for FOB. Worked. I feel like Blink is trying to change there genre but they did it to late. -It feels like they went back on there word. If I’m not mistaken Tom wanted to progress as an artist with Blink. Mark didn’t want that. He wanted to keep the band punk. Look what happened. I’m still a blink fan but I don’t like where this band is going
I agree, but with a different end of the stick. Matt adds the predictability/ genericism; uncreative lyrics (arguably predictable if you pay attention to Matt's style), the "wayyyyy-oooo" styled choruses and outros where it sounds like a crowd is singing. Why do I think this is Matt? Cos +44 was Travis and Mark, and +44 were excellent.
@@IllBeDARNd I miss the vareity in a blink album. Some Mark songs, some tom songs and some where they both sing. In the new albums its just, mark sings, Matt sings chorus, Matt sings second verse, chorus, they both song the bridge. SMH
My thoughts about what they're sayin' about the upcoming album, its different but i guess it will be similar to what BMTH did, it will be a lot of variety, travis said in an interview, that he made a blast beat(normaly used in metal bands) and we will have the chainsmokers probabily will bring some eletronic things and popish, and pharrell williams(IDK what i should expect) but pharrell probabily will bring something POP, but in general i think it will be a pop album.
I came here from a Pitchfork article saying Blink-182 had ditched guitars, but this is clearly guitar driven, just with strong effects. The new sound isn't bad at all but it's not a strong song compared to the old stuff

How did the same guy that wrote... "You're cold with disappointment While I'm drowning in the next room The last contagious victim of this plague between us I'm sick with apprehension I'm crippled from exhaustion And I dread the moment when you finally come to kill me" ...write this?
And the guy who wrote... “Shaking like a dog shitting razor blades, waking up next to nothing after, dreaming of you and me. Waking up all alone, waking up so relieved. While you’re taking your time with apologies. I’m making my plans for revenge. Red eyes on orange horizons. If Columbus was wrong I’d drive straight off the edge”
"I listen to you cry A cry for less attention But both my hands are tied And I'm pushed into the deep end I listen to you talk But talk is cheap And my mouth is filled with blood From trying not to speak So search for an excuse And someone to believe you In foreign dressing rooms I'm empty with the need to Curse my enemies forever Let's slit our wrists and burn down something beautiful This desperation leaves me overjoyed With fading lights that lead us past the lives that we destroy Please understand I lay rotting where I fall. I'm dead from bad intentions Suffocated and enbalmed, and now all our dreams are chased in You swore you wouldn't lose, then lost your brain You make a sound that feels like pain So please understand This isn't just goodbye This is I can't stand you " +44 - No it isn't
This why I love blink, always growing and never looking back and never repeating themselves to much. People will always hate cause they want the same shit all the time but trust me when you get older shit changes and you wanna push yourself to experimentation.
Okay - can we just appreciate that Blink 182 is even still around? Most bands from the early 2000’s just stopped - even if you don’t like their new sound it’s just because bands evolve - the same thing over and over gets old. It really just be that way 🙌🏼
I'm fine with bands changing and evolving, but that's not really what happened here. I defended them when it came to Neighborhoods and Dogs Eating Dogs, because that was an actual natural progression of their music. California was okay too, even if Matt was still just getting his bearings. For NINE though, Blink barely even wrote the songs for this album. It would've been nice to see more songs actually written by Blink themselves, rather than mainstream pop songwriters like Sam Hollander or Ali Tamposi. Only On Some Emo Shit is completely written by Blink.
I need to say this. I hated this song when it just came out because it was not what I was expecting from blink-182, but now I really appreciate the risk they took by adding new styles to their music and now I love the song
Now everybody can be absolutely sure that Tom Delonge was the mastermind in Blink-182. Without him you’re completely lost. Please, Mark and Travis, stop destroying a band that so many people (used to) love!
Yes, the guy that held creative genius power on the self titled and the absolute piece of garbage Neighborhoods album. Yes - this song isn't that good and I don't like the direction either. Tom wrote tons of garbage like this too though. PS - for all the Tom lovers, why are you here exactly? AVA came out with something new a week ago. No matter what this band puts out you'll hate it because Tom isn't part of it. Get lost.
Unpopular opinion here. I love that song, it's not the "old" blink 182, but it's different than their other songs. It's not that edgy emo/punk style that much anymore and I love it. Many people hate the lack of guitars in this song but in my opinion it lets everything pop out and shine through. Keep experimenting Blink I'll be your biggest fan no matter what.
Zachary Ray it just carried the torch for the next stage of Blink’s evolution. And then listening to Generational Divide and Happy Days, I love these songs buy it feels like we’re right back to a California Part 2 album. And we already had that on the deluxe edition
"Raised on a rerun" is perhaps the most genius and fitting description of us late '80s and early '90s kids. Morally, literally, and everything in-between.
I'm not sure how much i enjoy this track. I really enjoy the verses and Skiba does have some nice guitar work on the bridge. But it's that chorus man, I'm afraid it feels a little underwhelming. That being said, I'm still excited as fuck for new blink. I think this new album has promise, and could be great.
@@Arcadia6227 Not really guitar related, but I feel like the way they tune their voices in production makes Skiba not sound like himself. I'm very glad A3 released a new album last year. I need more of that.

I’m no music critic but here are my gripes:
-The flow is predictable.

Okay - can we just appreciate that Blink 182 is even still around? Most bands from the early 2000’s just stopped - even if you don’t like their new sound it’s just because bands evolve - the same thing over and over gets old. It really just be that way 🙌🏼

@@Arcadia6227 Not really guitar related, but I feel like the way they tune their voices in production makes Skiba not sound like himself. I'm very glad A3 released a new album last year. I need more of that.
I know, I actually might like this song if it weren’t for the trap beats, there is nothing more potent to ruin a song.
Thatdamasian I have to agree, for the chorus.
Haters are gonna hate, so let 'em. I love it. The melody takes me back, and for a moment I can actually forget all the bullshit, and focus on a time when I still felt good, and had a positive outlook on life. Everyday now is just a struggle to stay motivated enough to not step off of the curb in front of a bus.
What you call haters are actually blink 182 fans
This song is shit, and you're also the hater
Been a fan since "Dude Ranch". See, sometimes visions and directions change. The sound might be different, but the message is the same. Keep crying for the old ways, the world is going to evolve around you. This is Blink. It's not 20 years ago.
Cnt wait for the album guys always a fan love the new stuff thank you for the great memory rides of my youth n now this cheers
Is this really Blink 182 ??
Depends on your definition of "Blink 182"
That moment you realize the new blink182 song is so watered down that it makes the new angels and airwaves song look hardcore.
Just wait until that 2nd AVA is the most guitar driven hah
realityorfiction they were probably trying to let low standards for the new album so they don’t hate from every song
Am i the only one who likes the song and is glad that blink-182 does still exist?
Gracie Thornton My words!
I genuinely think that this song is a good one, after hearing it for a few times it echoes in my head over and over again. And I really like matt's part. I know many of older blink 182 fans wont like this song, I feel that, been following them since my mid school years. But all I could say is that I'm just a really big fan of the band, I'll always listen and follow whatever they'd create or do and I know I'll like them whatever it is.
I shall pass judgement till the album
Needless to say I hope they’ve got more to offer :(
Oh man...I miss the old school Blink.....Josie, carousel, apple shampoo, whats my age again etc✌✌✌
Me too...me too.
etc.*
bring back the Tom Delonge era
@@whatispunkrock672 hell yessss
Oh man did they delete those songs?
Anyone else come back after listening to NINE, to give the song a 2nd chance, and regret bashing it? Honestly, this song isn't bad at all. Loved NINE.
GabiTheNabi :3 me 🤚
YES. I feel bad now because this is one of my favorite songs...
you have shit taste
@@billybermuda indeed, i wont deny it, nine isnt really their strongest album, its easily their worst but a lot of the songs touched me with what i was going through when the album dropped
fuck the haters, keep doing your own thing
The new AvA sounds more like a blink than blink themselves.
Tom Delonge still got it ey
Because Tom IS Blink lol
cause tom is blink
Not really.
That song sounds like bad AvA. Nothing like blink. Absolute garbage.
