    Barefoot Sound may have formally developed its first official monitor in 2004, but Thomas Barefoot’s sonic odyssey began with a dream of and love for music, teaching himself to build guitars and amps at just 13 years old. The scientist/inventor/engineer polymath earned an undergraduate degree in physics, entering into a PhD program before dropping out to pursue his real passion: ultra-high-fidelity audio. State-of-the-art technology like dual-ring radiator tweeters, Dual-Force low-frequency elimination, and Multi-Emphasis Monitor Emulation have placed Barefoot Sound at the bleeding edge of sonic innovation. Now, they’ve found a welcome home with Sweetwater. Join Mitch Gallagher for a detailed showcasing of Barefoot Sound’s premier audio gear!

    I've had the Footprint 02s in my studio for about a month. We ran Sonarworks to dial in the room, and after taking some mixes out into the wild, I can say with confidence that not only do these things over perform for their price and size, but they are absolutely HONEST. One of the best investments we've made to date.

    I put Footprint01s up against Focals in a side by side test in my own studio. Wasn't even close. Took about 5 secs to decide to ship the Focals back.

    I've loved the addition of the 12's for the studio and 45's for the home setup.

    Footprint 01s have 650 watts, the 02s have 350 watts. Thats a huge difference considering the woofer difference is just 1.5inches. The 01s pump headroom like there's no tomorrow.

    I got my Footprint 01’s a few years back and really love them. Great power and detail. From mixing/mastering to just listening to music on “hi-fi” mode or playing guitar through them with my Fractal they really sound amazing.

      I got a pair also. I honestly remember being stunned at how poorly i mixed drums before i got them - the transients snap so clearly on the footprints. Did you have the same impression? Felt i was able to push the limiter much harder just because i got my drums to hit more cleanly.
      I also am still amazed at the way they sound. The 250hz crossover on the sides with the massive woofers always makes me feel like somehow they are wide but narrow at the same time. It's just such a pleasant sound.

    Great job Mitch. Excellent presentation. I'll stuck with my Focals. But if I could justify the funds, I would seriously consider Barefoot.

    The amplifier needs to be very powerful to drive these speakers.
    Not sure why anyone would need that sort of power output in an enclosed run-of-the-mill recording studio.
    Talk about needing head space😁

    I’m building a barn and then will turn it into my recording studio here in the desert outside the Great State of Nevada using Adam s5h as center 2 mm27 on the right and 2 mm27 the left

    The prices are ridiculous for Hypex Amps and no self build Drivers and no DSP / Room Correction. But theyre successful so people spend the money. 35k Eur for the mm12, not on the cheap side

    Barefoot doesn't make their own drivers, their own amps, their own DSP, or their own power supplies. They are a speaker box assembly house which has fooled everybody with a fun looking tweeter. It's a "no" for me.

    I could never understand the super special monitors concept. NOBODY has them in their car or house or whatever. And everything from my buddy's studio with "the latest greatest" monitors sounds great played there. But when played in normal situations. It doesn't sound good. But the stuff I mix using just regular old house speakers everyone says sounds better.
    In the old days they used to take a copy out to a car for playback. Because nobody had great stuff and they wanted it to sound good where most people would be listening.

      So when you shot these out with other monitors you found something that was as good or better for less or do you just not want to spend that much for monitors? If it’s the later then I recommend not going to Vintage King to look at monitors. What are you mixing with now?

    • @jan_07
      @jan_07 10 месяцев назад +2

      They’re sold by pairs though, that’s why the price. If you compare it to other high end pro speakers (which are always priced individually to trick us), the prices are kind of the same.

    • @louderthangod
      @louderthangod 10 месяцев назад +4

      @@DamienTheCat You may be the first person in the history of recorded music to refer to monitors as having “needless headroom”…I guess you should either feel proud or maybe question if you know what you’re talking about. Also, they were discussing several different monitors, the 01 and 02 are most certainly not for giant control rooms but typical small, bedroom sized rooms.

      I got the footprint 01s unused demo open box for $3k. Idk man, if you want to mix well you need monitors that can do the job and the ppl who make them know this and charge accordingly.
