This is what my dentist did for my root canal tooth. I couldn't afford a crown and the temporary filling material kept wearing away until I could feel the post. She built up composite material and sculpted a "new tooth" from the shell that was left! It has been doing very well for a number of years now and I try to treat it well because I'm so thankful! Thank you for helping people like me out!

Where I’m at, you either see a bunch of aggressive young dentists promoting high fee indirects on decay with 75+% intact tooth structures or older dentists doing improper adhesive dentistry as in 10 sec on bulk-fill composite restorations. You can teach a mechanic how to place an implant, but only a doctor would know its prognosis with accuracy. Patients don’t know anything until dentists decide to jump in and start explaining.

Well I'm due to have a lot of work on my teeth and I'm absolutely petrified when I went to my dentist I was sobbing with fear I'm in my 30's lol, I've been really apprehensive about having the work done but I came across your videos and it's made me calm down quite alot. Maybe it's the desensitisation of the noises and the music but it really has made me less anxious. Thank you 🙂
Amazing work! Hopefully more dentist will opt for such treatments for very small and thin tooth instead of putting in a crown. I just started RCT to “save” the only molar I have on the bottom left of my mouth. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep away from using it until the crown is placed.
And in a year when the tooth become bridled from have an RCT the tooth is going to fracture and need extracted. There is a reason why we crown teeth after RCT.
This is a biomimetic filling. He has layered it with high fibre. Not every tooth needs a crown post rct, indirect restorations would be better here instead of crowns.
Also. The reason for crown fracture is not brittleness. Rct treated tooth never become brittle. Most teeth fail because there is too much tooth structure that is removed due to carries. Wedging forces in highly restored teeth is partly to blame for tooth fracture. And this is not only the case with rct treated teeth, it also commonly happens on vital teeth that are heavily carious and consequently restored. Biomimetic fillings reduce stress and distribute them in all parts of tooth and are quite resistant to ecentric forces when chewing. If a person gets normal fillings with a uniform composite without layering then definitely the wedging force can fracture teeth.
It’s more important to do full cusp coverage in an endo treated tooth. But it doesn’t mean that you need do prepare all the intact tooth structure away to fabricate a crown. Studies show that even simply restore a tooth with direct overlay can produce comparable longevity for the tooth against full ceramic crown.

Dentist here. First of all, I have to say your videos are fun to watch and have a very soothing feel about them that makes them almost ASMR. Now with that being said, the tooth here would have a much better outcome with an onlay ceramic restoration (with or without endocore), and as dedicated as you are to making the composite look as natural as can be, the patient won't notice your attention to detail AND it will only make the next restoration harder to make the next time. In some cases, it's just better to make the composite a little more obvious to a dentist's eye. I often use BW and B1 shade on posterior composites when I feel it's relevant for the dentist to be able to easily distinguish tooth structure from composite. But still, I admire the artist in you and your work is very impressive
I've got the same problem but th3 dentists want to extract it instead of restoring it. I have had a tooth filling for over 13 years and it's still looking good. I tell them how great dentistry in my country is, instead of inspiring them but what I've got is a sullen look and rejection. Doc, bakit ba yung dentist ko gusto lagi ng crown? . Meron ginawa dati dentist ko dyan sa Pinas, rootcanal (hindi na crown) pero nag karoon ng leak or nag fail after 10 years at kakatapos ko lng ng Apicoectomy last week. Gusto I crown again general dentist ko. Meron bang alternative? ...... Meron din sya dati ginawa sa ngipin ko at na-rootcanal dito sa US pero yung structure ng ngipin ko wala sira except yung hole from the rootcanal, crown din ang ginawa.. Ayaw ko sana ng crown dahil sa possibility baka maputol or decay under the crown at ayaw ko din na pinapanipis ang orginal tooth. Kaya tingin ko yung ganitong procedure ay mas maganda ( pwedeng mali ako).
Just wow! I wish there was a way to rebuild a root canal that has a crown with something like this! I ha daño idea a dentist could do a root canal and leave the outer layer of the tooth. Maybe I’m missing something? In short. I always thought the treated tooth had to be shaved all the way down to be fitted for a cap. 🤷🏽♀️
Doc.. sana next video nyo is about fractured tooth. May fracture/ crack po yung tooth pero nakatago.. below gumline kaya laging nagingilo at masakit.. so ended up root canal. Does that mean fixed na rin ang crack nun after root canal? May sensation pa rin kasi akong naffeel sa pinagkakabitan ng ipin, parang sa bone na mismo.. pero di naman masakit.

very nice technique , i would have suggested the patient an implant if he cant affort it a 3 unit bridge , to replace the missing tooth. But its multiple factors id guess still youre highly skilled.

I’ve been doing my best to restore the natural shape since I was a student so I think it’s the matter of manual skills. As you know people need good grades to get to a medical university and then study for many years, it’s a random estimate but I think at least 60% of them had no need for manual development, resulting in a “it doesn’t make a difference if it’s flat” excuse. Of course it does, otherwise our teeth would be flat naturally. Still like you see in this video it can be really difficult even for a skilled dentist to achieve a naturally looking tooth, in fact I know for a fact that the Dr in this video wants to do a better job next time. (As in he will always try to chase the perfect shape) It’s looking good. ;)
its multiple factors, the dentist ability, how deep the cavity is , hows the oclussion (bite) sometimes we do marvelous work and the patient bites and they feel discomfort biting and we have to make them comfortable (flat) .
How much you charge for a composite crown? I have yet seen patients like this actually changes their food diet or oral hygiene habit because a dentist tells them composite building can be difficult. Most patients choose composite because it’s free (some countries) or cheaper option for them. I wouldn’t do them a favor for a free and difficult treatment if they don’t even care what I tell them to do. Biomimetic does not promote bulk filling or cusp building more than 2mm per increment, like you said stress from polymerization shrinkage. DWT only works after minimum of 5 min with specific composites for now (I’m assuming most composites could be applied under DWT as long as IDS/RC are done properly). A properly done composite restoration can last up to 9 years with “normal” usage vs a properly done bonding protocol for a crown that could potentially last up to 20+ years (most research supports 10 years because that’s how long they have been following-up).
I'm sorry, there are as many factors when it comes to dental treatment. It depends on the place, clinic, the dentist studied, the situation of your mouth, material to be used and many more. So there is no fixed price for everyone. Sorry, it is better for you to consult a dentist so that you would know. It's also forbidden in our ethics to mention the price in public. Lol biomechanical forces say this restoration wont last long. Pretty work to showcase on youtube and woo unsuspecting general public but all the dentists know this is a hack job.
I read post endo better go with crown..bcoz coefficient of thermal expansion of composite differ from tooth str so chances of fracture of tooth str is more..
Yes but you also risk root fracture, perforations and delamination if you use quartz fibre posts. They are best avoided if the crown doesn't need them for retention

My front tooth got broken at gum line. I have a crown and post in root canal. Way deep down x-ray shows fracture ( probably caused by an aggressive dentist trying to get half lose crown of years ago for reglue.) but the glass ionomer is holding post in extremely well and solid. Is it possible glue is holding fracture together and anything I should be careful of. Do I need to be concerned and change to implant? 35 years with same root canal and crown system.

I've gone to 8 or so dentists in Alabama and they all make their molar fillings flat. The only one who didn't was a cosmetic dentist who charged 3x as much for most things, and more for serious work. Do other family dentists actually mold the teeth like this?
I’ve been doing my best to restore the natural shape since I was a student so I think it’s the matter of manual skills.
As you know people need good grades to get to a medical university and then study for many years, it’s a random estimate but I think at least 60% of them had no need for manual development, resulting in a “it doesn’t make a difference if it’s flat” excuse.
Of course it does, otherwise our teeth would be flat naturally.
Still like you see in this video it can be really difficult even for a skilled dentist to achieve a naturally looking tooth, in fact I know for a fact that the Dr in this video wants to do a better job next time. (As in he will always try to chase the perfect shape)

its multiple factors, the dentist ability, how deep the cavity is , hows the oclussion (bite) sometimes we do marvelous work and the patient bites and they feel discomfort biting and we have to make them comfortable (flat) .

How much you charge for a composite crown? I have yet seen patients like this actually changes their food diet or oral hygiene habit because a dentist tells them composite building can be difficult. Most patients choose composite because it’s free (some countries) or cheaper option for them. I wouldn’t do them a favor for a free and difficult treatment if they don’t even care what I tell them to do. Biomimetic does not promote bulk filling or cusp building more than 2mm per increment, like you said stress from polymerization shrinkage. DWT only works after minimum of 5 min with specific composites for now (I’m assuming most composites could be applied under DWT as long as IDS/RC are done properly). A properly done composite restoration can last up to 9 years with “normal” usage vs a properly done bonding protocol for a crown that could potentially last up to 20+ years (most research supports 10 years because that’s how long they have been following-up).
I'm sorry, there are as many factors when it comes to dental treatment. It depends on the place, clinic, the dentist studied, the situation of your mouth, material to be used and many more. So there is no fixed price for everyone. Sorry, it is better for you to consult a dentist so that you would know. It's also forbidden in our ethics to mention the price in public. I wish I could visit this dentist to restore my two molar teeth number 31 and 18. Some crazy dentist shaved my distal cusp off for nothing and another hollowed a molar out by grinding away 3 ridges…both buccal and one lingual and it feels so hollowed out 😞💔

I read post endo better go with crown..bcoz coefficient of thermal expansion of composite differ from tooth str so chances of fracture of tooth str is more..
Yes but you also risk root fracture, perforations and delamination if you use quartz fibre posts. They are best avoided if the crown doesn't need them for retention

My front tooth got broken at gum line. I have a crown and post in root canal. Way deep down x-ray shows fracture ( probably caused by an aggressive dentist trying to get half lose crown of years ago for reglue.) but the glass ionomer is holding post in extremely well and solid. Is it possible glue is holding fracture together and anything I should be careful of. Do I need to be concerned and change to implant? 35 years with same root canal and crown system.
