Leo Lyons has got rhythm and soul - his bass and drive is on par with Noel Redding, Jack Bruce, John Entwistle, Geezer Butler, JP Jones, Rodger Glover etc, but his passion level and enjoyment always seemed to be higher. Blues, jazz, rock 'n roll at high tempo - many famous modern day metal guys cant hold a candle to this guy.
Noel Redding wasn't a bass player...he was a lousy guitar player and played with hendrix, because jimi liked his hair...lyons, entwistle, butler, bruce, jones are real bass heroes....noel redding is at most medicore..m
@@rolandkobelbauer8280 Unfair dismissal ! The point I think he was trying to make is that he and Alvin had a special partnership. They did. They were brothers.
leo isnt only a beast on the bass, he is also a brilliant producer. he produced two of my all time faves FORCE IT AND NO HEAVY PETTING for the ,,schenker,, UFO. this lps got great athmosphere. no overdubs no fuzz. just virtous hardrock. so unique
Leo has always been a driving player. An absolute legend of the time! I'm very fortunate to be able to speak with him every now and then... What a great guy. He's exactly like how you expect him to be; and his smile is definitely infectious! Love his music and skills. Keep rocking brother!
Leo, Ive been playing bass for over 45 years, and you are the reason why, no one put as much into a bass riff as you, you become the the bass, its amazing, i mimick your on stage reactions as well.... u are a bad ass Sir...
@@FunkInTheTrunk sorry but I'm sure . Alvin Lee winterland will bring it up. But you know thanks for the tip. I should do that more often. Just add links. Probably don't expect anyone to watch
MrMojabo that’s okay, thank you for being helpful. Links help out believe it or not, there might be someone who likes what you have have to say and wants to see it for themselves at some point, yanno? ;) thanks again
i used to go around with the jAYBIRDS, in the 1950/early sixties, mainly in the nottingham/derby area, this was before they changed their name to 10 years after, leo and alvin lee were great, in fact the Group was great, sadly we have lost Alvin, Mike Mollart of wollaton
I grew up with TYA as one of the core bands in my teens/20s… have all of their albums - it is wonderful to see Leo Lyons getting some coverage (absolutely well-deserved) and new followers nowadays, esp. with sites like this and his own YT channel!!
I came to look if there was any TYA after Alvin so just dipping my toe in water for first time. I remember Love Like a Man when it charted in 🇬🇧 and 🇺🇸 I must have been 13 or something and my first $£^¥ the pants bass !
Omni, I have just started to view Leo's YT video library. TYA was my absolute Favorite Rock Band of my ERA. I'm 69 YO... Knew of TYA before Woodstock, but after seeing the Movie in 1970 - the rest is history. Based on the performance at Woodstock, which epitomized Blues Rock , is enough to have catapulted TYA into the RRHF. There are soooooo many others that are in that don't belong there. I think the main problems is that TYA was not a POP band , having only had 1 real Radio Single , played in movies, Classic Rock Radio , Talk Radio Shows: I'd Love To Change The World. We TYAers, should garner the supporters and DFEMAND that they are to be inducted... How do we go about doing that ?
I have wondered the same thing for years. I get a monthly newsletter from the R&R HOF and EVERY month I reply with a plea to get them inducted. I get an automated response thanking me. But no real response. I even called em one day and was surprised that I got a real person. I told her my opinion of TYA. She thanked me but no real response. I have personally chatted with Leo Lyons ( through his YT channel) and he said there are more deserving bands. He is much too humble. Besides all the great stuff they did, and as you mentioned, their performance at Woodstock, they should be inducted just for naming a song "50000 Miles Beneath My Brain.", which in itself is a great song . With the internet their has to be a way. I'm just don't know what it is. Have never had a negative comment about our way of thinking. Just don't know how to rally the troops. Sorry for the long letter. I can get carried away with this. I believe in it so much.
Leo Lyons, the most underrated bass player EVER! It's a shame that the whole dann band has never been given it's fair recognition. Thanks Leo!
The most underrated bass player EVER... PERIOD! Rock on Leo.👍💪😁
I love how he is over 70 yo and still has more energy than some younger players.
Leo Lyons is one bad ass bass player! So glad he's still around!

Although the cat on guitar is really good nobody can compare to the great Alvin Lee!
Well, no choice but to give a thumbs up
If anyone ever had more fun playing bass than Leo Lyons I've never seen him. How the hell is Ten Years After NOT in the R &R HOF?

Leo Lyons and John Entwistle are probably the best British Bassists in history.

Un homme modeste et de grand talent

Lyons, JPJ, Entwistle & Burton were my influences growing up as a Bass guitarist. I still can't believe this guy is real.
