JUST finished this in a size 4. I can't wait to have my granddaughter try it on in the morning 😊 Thank you SO much for the beautiful instructions. You win the prize for FINALLY teaching me the concept of the foundation chain...many have tried 😅
Thank you for making this tutorial. I have recently returned to crocheting and knitting. It’s been many years. Now I have granddaughters. I made this one in rainbow colors. It came out cute and almost picture perfect. Fingers crossed it will fit her!
I'm terrible about trying to modify patterns to make them more personalized, but I'm going to resist my usual urge and follow this pattern. I actually have this yarn in a few different colors. I might go get this color, though. More versatile.
Thank you so much for posting this....I am just about finished with it for my granddaughter...she will flip! It's the cutest...I know she will wear it till it just does not fit any longer. This was clearly presented, very easy to follow along and frankly, one of the best things out there for intermediate beginners! HA!!! 👍🏻❤👏👏👏
Thank you so much for this! I’m nee to crochet and this patter was simple and easy to follow. My daughter loved her sweater and my other 3 wants sweaters now too! Thank you!
I do not find this easy to follow as she says things like “repeat rows 2 and 3 7 more times” and the written pattern is confusing to me. I’m currently held up in the first sleeve trying to figure out what row 4 should be doing.
Hi Jennifer. If you're having trouble with the pattern, I would be happy to help. Instructions like, "repeat rows 2-3 seven more times" are quite common in crochet patterns, as is is often necessary to repeat a set of rows multiple times rather than repeating a single row multiple times. If you have a question about row 4 of the sleeve, just let me know and I will be happy to help.
This is my second time doing this (yaaa). Thank you so much for this. I would like to ask can I leave sleeves off until neck part is finished. I struggle with the extra bulk when doing the front. Did not know if this affected anything.
Could I make this in 8 ply Australian wool which I think is 3 is 3 US Correct me if I’m wrong. I love your tutorial and your voice is very relaxing. I have downloaded the P D F hoping to try. It. Thankyou🦋
Hi. Yes, Australian 8 ply yarn is equal to US #3 Light / DK Weight. This pattern calls for US #4 Medium Weight yarn, equal to Australian 10 ply yarn. I would not recommend using the #3 weight yarn for this pattern unless you are comfortable altering or designing patterns. I hope this helps!
Hi Haley. I don't know how long it took me to make, but it would depend on the size of the sweater you are making. A sweater for a smaller child will be quicker than a sweater for an older child. I hope this helps!
Hi Sue! The hook I used in this video is a Furls Odyssey. furlscrochet.com/collections/odyssey?#oid=1087 The Odyssey hooks are my favorite ergonomic hook, and I use them for as many of my projects as I can. I hope this helps!
Yes, as long as it is #4 Medium weight. The drape and feel of the fabric may be a bit different than the cardigan in the photos, but it can be done with a soft cotton yarn. (I would not recommend using the cotton yarn that is often used for dishcloths, though. That is a bit stiff for making garments.) I hope this helps!
Hi. When you turn the work after each row, you're working into the top of the row you just crocheted. It is just facing you in the opposite direction. So when you turn the work, the back of the row you just made is facing you. I hope this helps!
Hi. Some of the rows in this project are repeated more than once, and others are not. All of the written instructions are available here for all of the included sizes: yayforyarn.com/mini-cozy-cardigan/ If you could let me know which row you are on and what size you are making, I would be better able to help answer your question. Thanks!
Hi thanks for replying, I do have the pattern but I misunderstood the repeats when it says repeat 4-5 x amount of times I didn't think each row repeated x times, anyway frogged a bunch figured it out. Sweater is fabulous thank you
Hi Diane. The written pattern gives the same instructions as shown in the video, but sometimes I may explain what I'm doing in the video with slightly different wording than the written pattern. Is there a particular place in the pattern you need help with?
I made this in cream. I was soo excited to have made a garment as I usually make blankets. I washed it by hand and thought ‘I’ll just put it in the tumble dryer for three minutes’. However, I got distracted and left it in too long 😭😭😭. It was all limp and out of shape. I wanted to cry. Anyway, I’ve nearly finished my second one (this time in dusky pink). I’ll let you know how it goes.
Hi Sonia. I'm so sorry that happened to your first sweater! If it's not felted, it may still be able to be saved. If you wet block it and allow it to air dry, that can help the fabric go back to its original shape. I have a tutorial on wet blocking here: yayforyarn.com/block-knitting-crochet/ I only recommend tumble drying yarns that say you can do that on the label. I hope this helps!
Hi. All of the stitch counts and information needed to make all 9 sizes are given in the written pattern. I would recommend choosing a size based on the child's measurements rather than age, as different children may wear different sizes even though they are the same age. You can view the free version of the written pattern by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Hi Sonia. If you would like to purchase the PDF version of this pattern, you can do so by visiting the second link in the video description. That link will take you to my online pattern shop. I hope this helps!
Hi. Children of the same age can vary in their height and clothing size, so I would recommend measuring the child and choosing the correct size for the child according to the measurements given in the written pattern. Hi. That would depend, as all 7 year olds are not the same size, so you'll need to go by the body measurements of the child and compare that to the sizing in the written pattern. I hope this helps!

I'm also new to crochet and my 7 year old requested a teal cardigan so I'm trying to learn go make her one!
Thank you SO much for your patterns & videos! Your videos are the most informative & easiest to follow I've seen yet. You're very talented! 😊
Hello I just wanted to say that I substituted the first row for just a chain and then half double crochet on top of it and it still came out fine
Love the multiple sizes!! Bought the pattern and appreciate the low cost! So cute!
😍😍😍😍 I just love this pattern in mini and regular. Now I just need a little girl to put it on haha
Lol
You're very talented!
Beautiful! Your tutorials are awesome! Your directions are very clear and easy to understand. Thank you so much for this!!!

Love it thanks so much
I thought you were crazy and your pattern didn't make sense. Trust the process 😊❤
This is my second time doing this (yaaa). Thank you so much for this. I would like to ask can I leave sleeves off until neck part is finished. I struggle with the extra bulk when doing the front. Did not know if this affected anything.
Yes, you could crochet the neck edging before sewing the cardigan together with the sleeves if you like. It won't cause any problems. :)

Super beau merci 😅 😍😍👏👏👌👍🎉💐👋🏻❤️

Can I use Aran yarn instead of Worsted? Our yarns in SA 🇿🇦 are not size graded like yours. Thank you for a delightful pattern 🙏🏻
Hi. Yes! Aran yarn falls into the #4 Medium weight category in the US yarn labeling system. I hope this helps!
I really wish i had time to crochet.
I do it after I put my kids to bed and while they're napping. I wish I had *more time*, but I get it.
Approximately how long did it take you to finish this project?
Hi Haley. I don't know how long it took me to make, but it would depend on the size of the sweater you are making. A sweater for a smaller child will be quicker than a sweater for an older child. I hope this helps!
what hook brand are you using? it looks smooth

When you turn the work are you now working the opposite side of chain
Hi. When you turn the work after each row, you're working into the top of the row you just crocheted. It is just facing you in the opposite direction. So when you turn the work, the back of the row you just made is facing you. I hope this helps!
So apparently I don't think I have this right when repeating rows is each row 6 times for the sleeves and each row 5 times for the body?
Hi. Some of the rows in this project are repeated more than once, and others are not. All of the written instructions are available here for all of the included sizes: yayforyarn.com/mini-cozy-cardigan/ If you could let me know which row you are on and what size you are making, I would be better able to help answer your question. I’m trying to follow along with the written pattern. It seems you are doing it differently?
Hi Diane. The written pattern gives the same instructions as shown in the video, but sometimes I may explain what I'm doing in the video with slightly different wording than the written pattern. Is there a particular place in the pattern you need help with?

How many stitches 7/8years old

What size is this for?
This pattern includes children's sizes 2 to 16.
Hi, how can I purchase this pattern?
Hi Sonia. If you would like to purchase the PDF version of this pattern, you can do so by visiting the second link in the video description. That link will take you to my online pattern shop. I hope this helps!
Hi how much yarn needed for a 7years old?
Hi. Children of the same age can vary in their height and clothing size, so I would recommend measuring the child and choosing the correct size for the child according to the measurements given in the written pattern. @@YayForYarn tq so much for replying to me
Is size 6 for 7year old
