I genuinely can't remember the last time I went skiing, and yet here I am religiously watching your newest uploads and rewatching your old videos frequently. The editing, camera work, commentary and amazing chemistry you and your companions share just creates this amazing viewing experience! Very cool!
Krister is way more excited when he is in a video with you. Thanks for showing the judgements you go through when deciding what to ski. I think it is useful to share your experience (especially for us less experienced) and all the decision making that goes in before making the call to drop.
Can't stress how much credit should go to any and all camera work and cinematography. I honestly don't think the fifty holds a candle to these videos based purely on the story told through the camera work alone. Truly an exemplary piece of filmmaking
Niko and Joonas - that top-down shot above the ski lift is so creative!!! The shadows and composition make for such a unique and compelling visual. Nice work!
I’ve been checking your channel every few days to make sure I’m not somehow missing an upload! About pooped my pants when I saw this one this morning. Thanks Niko!
Epic! Again! Wonderful conditions! I know, cause I was accidentially there at the same day! With my son! Very skilled Skiing & boarding & storytelling & filming! I enjoy this channel soooo muuuchhhh🎉😊 Thank you for sharing!
much better video than usual, more skiing footage and having fun, less about your efforts for the environment, which is all great, but i dont click your videos to watch you talk about things i can find everywhere else on youtube. Thanks Nikolai!
Quality video and riding. Tignes is the bomb when it's on. Love the Chardonnet bowl, minimal boot packing from the top lift to access the bowl, with many steep options to warm up the cerebellum. Ski a line and hit the crepes after an hour's work.
As always amazing and inspiring content! Thanks to your awesome work I decided to try skituring myself and next week I'll participate in avalanche trening. Is there any chance Krister would record his own gear guide? As a snowboarder I'd be very helpful to see what equipment pros like him use in field 🏂
I love Niko's content so so much, and I don't say this necessarily to shame or judge, more so to just put to words my thoughts, but I feel like Niko's here for a fun time but not necessarily a long time. It's all just so high hazard.
I love your videos so much, always makes me feel like I'm skiing again. Not just the skiing but also the video quality is amazing Thank you for that Maybe you could try filming your couloir runs with an 360cam + extended stick or an fpv drone flying behind you to get and even sicker shot.
So I always wonder, does Joonas take the same couloirs back down as Nikolai? Or does he take other routes? (Maybe just curious to his ski-skill level ;))
Är nyfiken, vad har ni för mellanmål och snacks med er? Kan tänka mig att det tar mycket på energin upp för berget så laddar ni om innan ni åker ner eller efter?
@Nikolai Any pieces of wisdom to share with us what on went wrong in your decision making process, or was it just bad luck with the (wind?) slab release? Apparently the other skier in the gully/couloir to the skier's left did manage to get to the bottom before Krister dropped and did not have an avalanche hit him/her from behind.
Well it didn’t really go wrong hehe, just not very smooth. When you do a ski cut the aim is to release any slabs that might be there. That’s that whole conversation we had up top. We waited for there to not be anyone below. We agreed that if he had entered from the other side it would have been more elegant though :)
So awes(om)e yet again!!! Mercí!! You might need to keep things real tho and integrate a telemark bro (or sister)… #skiforrealfreetheheel 🙏🏾❄️ keep slayin’ from high Colorado
Man I got to get my ass over to Rivne’s looks so much fun, Niko I got a question when your not skiing with a guide do you just go somewhere and pick something to ski? And how do you know if the snowpack is safe?
Yep. We just do the work that the guide does (having learnt that over decades in the mountain with great mentors). Checking what the snow is doing. It’s a complex evolving science, but the basics are pretty easy to understand. Essentially you can know whether the snow is very dangerous and very safe, but then there’s a whole grey area that’s more tricky. Even the best get it wrong sometimes, so you need to accept that if you choose to go into avalanche terrain. With our without a guide.
Love watching these things. Amazing shots and riding. Glad it worked out, cause that little slab release at the top could have gone so wrong. That was the worst ski cut I have ever seen. Also I notice you guys have a habit of digging snow pits at the bottom of 1000 M slopes you are going to ride. Any information gained from these profiles is pretty much useless since the conditions in the start zones will be completely different. Stay safe out there so you can keep these coming.
Does anybody know how he controls the drone during these shoots? I guess there’s a third member not included in the story that films them from a distance and controls the drone?
If I’m being brutally honest: The warm-up lap looks like way more fun in terms of skiing than going down these couloirs more or less in a straight line…
Yesssss more Niko and Krister!!! Dream team, such fun to watch you two rip sick lines.
The seconds chute was just wide enough for some turns, amazing speed and control from Nikolai and Krister!
Great video! Would love to see a behind the scenes video of Joonas’ filming process because it’s so so good!

It's always the best video when it's the Niko + Krister combo
Krister is way more excited when he is in a video with you. Thanks for showing the judgements you go through when deciding what to ski. I think it is useful to share your experience (especially for us less experienced) and all the decision making that goes in before making the call to drop.
The off piste skiing is always great, but really loved the drone shot above the lift!

That’s insane, is that Tignes.
It's always a wise choice to warm up with a little powder!

How does your gopro handle the cold? I have to convience it to film a run and not die mid run.

But after U guys finish descending were does joonas goes down (not only in this video but everytime)
YAY MORE NICO CONTENT
Does anybody know how he controls the drone during these shoots? I guess there’s a third member not included in the story that films them from a distance and controls the drone?
It's the same guy holding the camera: Joonas Mattila :-)
did they just book out the mountain
Wow what a snow, the snowboarder goes with hardboots?
