Read this book *ALL THE TIME* as a kid. And literally 20 min ago, just finished reading it to my baby son. So yes… my family will be there on day one to watch this.
I’ve read this book every year since I was a kid. I have a distant memory of going to the author’s book signing and getting a copy! This makes my heart so happy and bonus Lauren graham is in it!! I cant wait until my daughter is old enough to read it together and carry on the tradition.
We saw it this past Saturday. 11/09/2024. It was Wonderful. Read the book several times. This Movie follows the book very well and does a great job. It's a Movie you don't want to miss. You will laugh and cry. We LOVED IT.

I think, that, when Imogene, as Mother Mary, is crying, her tears are not sad ones, but happy ones! She has finally realized that she and her siblings are not all bad; and that they too have good in them.
A Christmas movie worth watching! I am so thankful for a movie that shares the true meaning of Christmas. My grade one teacher read it aloud to my class and I read it aloud to my kids a few years ago.
I just watched this at the theater wow great job again Dallas I was in tears and laughing that was the best Christmas pageant ever God bless you on more shows you do❤️
What ages were your grandkids? I’m wondering if my 7yo daughter and almost 7yo grandson would like it. I’m nervous to take them to the theater for something that isn’t a cartoon movie (at this age), as it’s hard to hold interest for that long - but this seems like it may be a good exception.
I remember we put this on as a Christmas pagent over 20 years ago. I was one the kids in the angel costume. The church did a nativity story with this as a twist. Probably the best one I was ever in because they wanted us to slap stick our entrance (we both practiced squeezing through the stage door together and being overly dramatic about it idk how many times). My friend and I both kept it up everytime we were on the stage. 😂
Loved her as Cheryl from Archer. Glad to know she's still doing well and expanding her career. Respect for Judy Greer and looking forward to this movie ❤
That line darn well better make it into the movie! I mean, it was right at the top of the back cover of my copy of the book that I had as a little boy thirty years or so ago!
I saw this yesterday and I can say you should do yourselves a favor and plan to see it next weekend. It was sweet, funny, endearing and truly represents the meaning of Christmas
Hey Dallas and team we saw this movie this weekend and I just want to say Well Done!!! I loved the mood of the sets you captured from the 70s 80s vibe, I think you stuck to a clear and clean vision and script and it was very cohesive. I watched as the characters just grew larger and larger throughout the movie so the climax of the movie really brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for making this it will become a favorite of ours each year. P S. I think you made this in Canada and I worked in Canada quite a few years and found the people to be much no nonsense more than the typical American feel. I found this movie to really capture that kind of mood. I do Christian performing arts with kids and I really related to this movie. I found that you took a simple activity like a Christmas pageant and made an entire full film around a seven minute play.
I think that version is on RUclips; I've watched that so many times since I've found it online 🙂 This version looks even more over-the-top than that version, but I was OBSESSED with the book growing up too! Even if I go out alone, I'm probably going to watch this movie when it comes out!

You highlight the true meaning of being a Christian, loving each other, and what Christmas truly is about.. not the secular, meaningless, mindless, quest for presents, but glorifying God and celebrating the Birth of His son, our Savior.. ... such a heart-warming story and movie. The story is very profound from character building to the mood development of the viewer. This is a movie for those who want a bit of lightness while still leaving some depth, making people think from a different perspective about different things.
I’ve loved this movie since the 1986, Loretta Switt version! (I was in high school!) It has now been a tradition with my kids every year on dvd. So very excited to see this!
@@cerrida82 Okay same. I saw the trailer on tv when it was on mute because I mute commercials and without even seeing the title I knew what it was because it gave me the same vibes I remember when reading the book.
The trailer had the kids legit being terrible (not just movie bad), and I caught a glimpse at the end of the wise men walking with the ham. They remembered the HAM. The ham at the pagent and the kids reading up on Heriod(?) were two of my favorite parts, showing the children's growth. Rather difficult in a novella and told from a different kids viewpoint I didn't know this was a thing, but I'm definitely going to see it.
I read this story every christmas to my children for years. I found tears welling up every year when Emigen cried. My 34 year daughter text me to say now its a movie, I'm going to see it!!!!
I love every character in this movie, especially the Herdmans - Beatrice Schneider as Imogene, Mason D. Nelligan as Ralph, Matthew Lamb as Claude, Evan Wood as Leroy, Essek Moore as Ollie, Kynlee Heiman as Gladys. The main characters are almost all kids and their performances as bullies are outstanding, and we also see their vulnerability eventually. There are so many funny moments like when Gladiys jumps and scares the three boys. This movie is based on a best-selling book by Barbara Robinson. Dallas Jenkins’s direction shines in the selection of locations, sets, decor and acting. The film does switch eras between current time and the 1920s. There are a couple of important messages in this movie - a reminder that we should not judge a book by its cover and that everyone deserves a chance to prove what they can do when they feel supported. Be aware that this is a Christian oriented movie presenting the nativity in a very refreshing way. Will it become another recurring Christmas movie? Let’s hope so!

We just saw early access screening tonight. Dallas, you did a phenomenal job! Funny and very powerful! The audience clapped at the end. I believe that many lives will be impacted by this. This movie talks very openly about Jesus, and feels very authentic! I highly recommend this movie!

I loved this Movie!!! Every actor/actress was perfect for their roles. A little over the top, for the fun factor, but not ridiculous. I related to all the church people through my lifetime of church going. It will always be a Christmas favorite now.

Read this book in 3rd grade and played Charlie in a play adaptation in 9th grade! I’m not a christian, but this story does hold a special place in my heart. Hopefully they adapt it well.

Watched it - it was a combination of hilarious, laughter, and some serious heartfelt tears. Very very fun and funny watch
