As a fellow RUclipsr, I want to thank you for putting this video up. Not that it was a hard job, but seeing it done by someone else, made it even easier. Thanks again.
Great video with great step by step instructions. Saved me a lot of time by watching first before replacing my old stinky filter. And I agree with others who say Ford needs to make this a way easier process!!
Thanks for your video man. It helped me out. I change the engine one yesterday and the cabin today. It was actually easier than it looked in your video. Appreciate you.
Thanks so much. I just spent a half hour thinking I could just take the glove box off and bend the filter enough for it to slide in from below. Doesn't set flush doing that and finally I looked for your video. I buy the best replacement parts I can for my truck and do not want to spend cash on labor for such a little job. At least I thought it was simple until I tried doing it and really appreciate your money saving tips.
Bro is it just me that nothing is easy these days on newer vehicles don’t get me wrong your video is great I have a 2019 king ranch and as you know it’s an expensive truck and all this cheap plastic and so many fragile plastic clips drive me crazy my last vehicle was a 2018 Honda Odyssey I’ll pop the hood on the upper left-hand corner passenger side you pop up to Clips One on each side and boom you take out the filter put it back in and your done …and again thanks for the video…
Great video, save me about $150 from the dealer doing it! Maybe one thing…. For the folks that weren’t paying attention…. The filter should be put in such that the airflow indicator is pointing down. Thanks again!
NOTE: the airflow direction arrows point “down”. Take note of the orientation when removing and replacing. Looks like a cute symmetrical box, Not! Fins up, airflow down…you got this! Thanks for the video! What a bisch with out your helpful video
Thanks for this. I viewed another video and lowered the glove box also. This is so convoluted, it would be easy to break a tab if you are not careful. This helped a lot, I used a plastic kitchen tool as I do not have a trim remover.
Good video. Be careful when you're dropping the glove box down. There's a little plastic arm assembly on the passenger door side of it that, as I found out, is fragile. There's a plastic gear inside a housing on the arm that makes the glove box open softly. I'm not sure if I broke it or if it happened with the previous owner. Fixed it wit JB Plastic Bonder.
Take the filter out and run the blower full blast on defrost, floor and vent while you spray Lysol disinfectant into the now empty air cavity, Then blow old filter off with compressor air gun and also remember to spray old or new filter with Lysol then re-install. The Lysol will help kill the odors in your duct work throughout the truck.
Great tutorial. You should do one for the MAF sensor? I can’t find it and no one has any videos for it. I never had a truck before and it was right by the air filter on my fiesta. 👍
Airflow is top to bottom because it comes in through the cowl outside the truck. I’ve thought about doing tool lists at the beginning. Maybe I will do that sometimes
Well thats why I broke a snap clip on the cabin air filter cover....I didn't do all this crap. Tried to slide it up in there and didn't work. Ridiculous!!!! Thanks for the video
Thank you for this post - I sliced my finger open but got the job done. Ford lost points with me for this! Does the rubber panel piece fit looser after this process? (Also disappointing.)
Sorry to hear about your finger. Sounds like Ford at least owes you a band-aid. The rubber will fit the same if you’ve got all the little rubber clips in properly. I think I clipped in the upper ones first at a slight downward angle and then clipped the lower ones in. I think it’s described in the video.
Joe S. Ya, the rubber clips are all in, but it jiggles now to the touch. They must have put some light glue at factory install. Thanks for the reply, Joe.
Does this apply to the 2018 2.7 eco boost as well? Mechanic trying to tell me it’s under the front dash and would be over an hour to replace costing $75. Seems like bullshit.
@@davidmazza8714 i haven’t worked on one of those exact trucks. I would compare the dashboard assembly. If it’s similar, check it out against this video.
You could just open up the glove box the rest of the way there is two tabs you push the glove box will open up and then you can get to the cabin air filter no need to go through all the steps takes like one minute
Not on this truck. The glove is box is already opened past the tabs you’re referring too. Also, the upper parts that I’m showing how to remove block the filter access door when they’re not removed.
Thank You Joe. Seems the air filter arrows should be pointing up. And not down. But mine where facing down as well when I opened it. 16000 miles and still looks almost like new!
Thank you, this video showed me the correct way to take this apart to change my cabin filter. Much appreciated.

Thank you for saving me so much money by showing me how to do this! I appreciate this!
So glad this helped you. I had an idea that this might be helpful to others.
Found this video at the perfect time. Good detailed explanation
Me too, it's really smoky outside from wildfires here in NorCal, the land of fruits and nuts, I am a prune-picker my Granny from Arkansas would say.
Thank you for this video! Was able to do it right away after watching.

Good suggestion for the trim tool substitute. I’m glad this helped you.
Just wanted to say thank you for the video. Just took a few minutes
Awesome; couldn’t of done it without your video👍
Thanks for making a straightforward video!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this task.
Best tutoring video so far

I’m glad this helped you out! Thanks for your feedback.
Thanks man, helped me and I appreciate you taking the time to make the video.
Great information with the ratchet size and tips for slowly taking of the parts with those clips, I usually break one, didn’t this time.
Awesome! Glad I could help!
thanks for the pointer on pulling the fascia off!
i did my 2018 stx but it was almost the same. very good thanks
Than you for making this video... they don't make it easy on us. It isn't that bad but it's just hard to know where this stuff is actually located at.
So glad this helped you. Thanks for your feedback!
Just what I was looking for.
Great help. Thanks. What a f#@$ed up design.
Good straight forward video! thanks.
Thx. Saved me time. Much appreciated
Great video! Just did it myself
Perfect. Thanks!

excellent video, thanks man

Helpful additions would be starting with the needed tools, also the air flow direction just in case
Airflow is top to bottom because it comes in through the cowl outside the truck.
I’ve thought about doing tool lists at the beginning. Maybe I will do that sometimes
New filter ordered, $15. Dealershp wanted $115 CAN for one.
Well thats why I broke a snap clip on the cabin air filter cover....I didn't do all this crap. Tried to slide it up in there and didn't work. Ridiculous!!!! Thanks for the video
You should mention the Air Flow is from top to bottom and the arrow needs to be pointing down.
The dealership wants $85 to do this....filter Cost me $8 at O'Reilly's. Dealership rip off in Rio Rancho, NM
Thanks for the video. Now, can you help me find my 7mm nut driver?
😂
Why does ford make everything so complicated compared to other manufacturers
Yeah, this one was a bit much just to switch out a filter. And I don’t think it can be done any other way.
Be glad you don't have a German
Because they’re assholes
Man this is easy compared to my car lmao!
Done on purpose by Ford. Makes the average customer go to a dealer and pay big money!
Thank you for this post - I sliced my finger open but got the job done. Ford lost points with me for this! Does the rubber panel piece fit looser after this process? (Also disappointing.)

Looks like you have it in there upside down.
I don’t think so. The arrows point in the direction of the airflow which is top to bottom.
This is the most asinine design I've seen of a filter yet.
you have never owned a mazda 3!
Worked like a dream with the dash assy sitting on the lab bench. /s
How else will they charge 4 man hours at the dealer
Nissan Rogue is pretty stupid too. Underneath center console behind the accelerator.
I saw a woman. Her asswasaten.
U didn't show the first clips of the filter door
thanks guy

The interior is probably the same. I think this truck had the V8. That $75 sounds at least like what a dealer would charge for this.
@@JoesCarSmartsNY how bout the 2018 f150 XL standard crew cab… same as the lariat?
@@davidmazza8714 i haven’t worked on one of those exact trucks. I would compare the dashboard assembly. If it’s similar, check it out against this video.

You forgot to show which side of the filter is up
Most of these filters have arrows on them. Use those arrows to help you. Arrows point down in this case.
Another dip sh@t Ford let's make it more complicated and get that $110 hour labor charge! Thanks for posting!
Nope......this is a dealers job. My Camry is snap out, snap in. This is bullshit. You’ll have broken snaps, and have to replace the motor mounts !
I will never buy a ford again
