I love it, but, there again I'm from here ! There are 7 bridges, the footbridge or Millenium Bridge is nicknamed the Winking Eye Bridge, reason being it lifts and tips up for boats to pass under. If you're downriver , near the bend in the river,( in fact the Free Trade in slightly up from the river) as the Bridge opens , you'll see it exactly aligns with the iconic Tyne Bridge , exactly like an eyelid blinking ! Also, the Bridge lights up in multicolour at night 🎉❤

Newcastle is a fabulous city. Small enough to be friendly and familiar, large enough to offer all the trappings of a major city. And on the doorstep is a breathtakingly beautiful coast and countryside, castles, history, heritage you name it.
Yeah the north east coastline is really amazing. From Seaburn all the way up to scotland, it's just amazing, I live in Whitley bay and love walking along the coast every day and often drive further up north and keep finding new spots that are just beautiful
Untill we try and go to our once beautifull clean friendly city centre. That's when even us as gordies get a terrible shock !!!!! It's 75per cent filthy, full of non English ? And almost zero shops or stores But plenty eaterys, most of them also not !!! English . And on a very good day, you can get your wallet stolen, 😢

And we used to drive up to Scotland once every couple months also , and every place every where is just awfull, . I'm a Southerner, but a proud Newcastle United fan (family & Alan Shearer reasons). Newcastle Upon Tyne is a truly, truly special, beautiful place. The people are wonderful, warm and friendly, proud of their city and welcoming to anyone who comes to enjoy. It's just a lovely place, the architecture and history is incredible, the river Tyne is beautiful, the football club is in my biased opinion, the greatest most passionate in the land, and the nightlife is absolutely incredible. A fantastic place to spend time.
The amount of travelling football fans who have asked me where x y and z is and I say "howay let me show ye man" and made friends with them that I catch up with and have a catch up when they come back the seasons after. It's always been London clubs that have been so nice and open to having a good laugh.

Wish you'd had time for the Victoria tunnel, Black Friars, the Great North Museum, the Laing Art Gallery, Jesmond Dene, (you missed some great hidden bars in the Grainger Market). You could have taken the metro 20 mins and had time at the beach x. Don't forget Beamish open air museum but you'd need a full day for that. Oh well save it for your next visit 😊

I’m from Middlesbrough and now live I the City of Durham so I’m from the North East region . In essence Newcastle is the largest city and could be said to be the regions capital . I’ve quite a few Geordie pals and Newcastle is an amazing city , very vibrant , it’s buzzing with a lot of history too . One of the best things about Newcastle is it’s people like all North East folk they are friendly , very welcoming you won’t find more friendly folk than this region . If your young in Newcastle you can have the time of your life too endless bars , clubs , Restaurants as a young man I loved the record shops in Newcastle. There’s plenty to do , I’ve never had a bad night out there .
It's amazing how much this city has to offer! We literally absorb energy from the surroundings, so we immediately felt the good energy flowing from people who were friendly and helpful :) It's wonderful to hear from locals how they like life in Newcastle (and the surrounding area!).

im from sunderland, yeah a mackem, but served and worked in felling back in the day, most friendly people in the world the north east forget the football rivalry, but has to be one of the best nights out in the country, even beats us hands down in sunderland
I agree! The people were so welcoming and friendly! The St James Stadium looked amazing so even if I’m a Liverpool FC fan, I would love to see the game over there 🥳 Pubs were super lively so we truly enjoyed our experience as well in the recommended by a local Brinkburn pub 🍻

How do you not know about Newcastle? Always been ranked as one of the best, usually the best nightlife destinations in the UK. Also always considered one of the best away trips for football fans around the country. It has some of the most beautiful architecture & finest stretches of coastline anywhere. Newcastle always comes to mind for a city break, unless youve been living under a rock. Anything but underated!

As someone who lives in the Midlands, people know it's a good night out, but they have absolutely no idea about how nice the city is. They seem to have some strange ideas about it being horrible. Every friend I've brought up has fell in love with it and has been genuinely shocked.
Never been there ourselves so we wanted to check it out! Many people don't know about how amazing Newcastle is so thus the title 😜 We've received so many comments form the locals not to share the truth because indeed even if it's ranked one of the best cities/nightlife destinations, not many actually know how nice the people or atmosphere is in the North compared to the South.

Totally agree! We could have easily stayed for longer and explore more of the cities around :) We were quite surprised how close for example Durham was - only 14 minutes by train!
Bit always stay away from our city centre it's filthy dirty full of no shops and plenty beggars ,and druggies the druggies are all home grown gordie but the hundreds of beggars are all non english
Enjoyed hearing the sea gulls. They are actually Kittiwakes. A rare colony based around the Tyne bridge if you listen carefully their call is kitti wake. The millennial bridge is super especially when it “blinks” shut to let larger boats past. Newcastle is like lots of other North East places. A Hidden Gem. The countryside nearby is fantastic. Weardale, Teesdale and the coast are stunning.

I totally agree, I visited Newcastle and Gateshead for the first time last year for work. Everyone I met up there was great and the area itself was really amazing with incredible history almost around every corner, as well as some fantastic restaurants and bars. I will definitely go back up there for a city break in the future 👍
And zero shops or stores lots of take aways a d hundreds of eateries all of them non English, and filthy dirty pavements that your shoes stick to. And hardly an English face in sight the odd druggie on every corner hundreds of non English beggars on every corner .??

One of the more comprehensive Newcastle videos I've watched, and good that you went inside the church and cathedral and appreciated the history. Good tour of the Grainger Market too. Hope you return one day. Nicely appropriate for Newcastle that the visit ends with an elaborate beer picking process ahead of pie and mash!

Lovely comprehensive tour guys. Moved from the Midlands to Newcastle nearly 40 years ago and I love it and the North East people. Grainger Town has kept all it's facades but like the Lloyds building, many have been gutted and rebuilt behind. With St James' Park being in the city centre, it sounds like an express train going through when Newcastle score. The fans are the most loyal in the country.

In ouseburn, you can take a tour of the Victoria Tunnel, which runs under the city to the town moor (by St James Park) Incredible engineering and was used as a bomb shelter during ww2

The thing that intrigues me as a Newcastle resident is the amount of southern English people who live Here ! Think it goes under the radar a bit…but I seem to run into so many ! and lovely people they are too…when it comes to my city I am quite happy with the way David dimberley described it … it’s a handsome city !
I believe all the southern people that came for a visit just planned to stay longer because they enjoyed it so much 😜 But jokes aside, we truly believe that the quality of life, friendly people & property prices are so much better compared to the south so probably that's the reason why!
If you can factually find any !!real gordie as everyone is not english, never mind d gordie, and the outskirts of Newcastle fine ,but there also getting to non English,but city centre is like a third world dump its a dirty filthy dive, and that's coming fro. A true gordie

Glad you seemed to enjoy our city, Ive watched quite.a few videos of people visiting but yours was the best. At night is when Newcastle really comes alive with over 500 pubs in the city centre. The metro system although in parts is showing its age is fantastic you can get to the beach in about 20 minutes. Hope you enjoyed your stay 🙂

@@JayandKarolina Yeah in about 20 minutes you can get off at Tynemouth which has a street with shops, Bars and restaurants. It also a chippy. It has a lovely cove called St Edwards Bay or you can walk along to Whitley Bays Long sands then into Cullercoats cove which also have Metro Stations. They rent out paddle boards or you could have a surfboard lesson. The water can be a bit cold though 😂
Great video. Newcastle is the best city in the UK. It really comes alive on an evening too. Also, regarding the metro system being dated, there's been hundreds of millions of pounds invested in a new fleet of state of the art trains which are arriving later this year. 😊
I wouldn’t say Newcastle is underrated, it often gets voted the best city to live, work, part etc. Probably a lot of ignorant southerners look upon it as grim, and are actually surprised when they visit…
I would say so! But once people visit Newcastle and see how nice the city is and how friendly the people are, they will be coming back frequently! We had heard before that it's a nice city but we didn't exactly expect that we would feel so great over there! :)
I wouldn't even rate newcastle as grim, and I'm a real gordie . It's worse than grim. I loved my newcastle once it was a real lovely friendly vibrant place, but the change is unforgiveable, thank you labour who have run our city into the ground ,as they have always run all council bourghs, never mind who's in number 10. The council bourghs have always been run by labour, and our city is filthy dirty, and full of nothing but eateries non english. And they are happy to bulldoze all out victorian building to the ground to build nothing but tin sheds, student or migrent accommodation . There is nothing to offer any where at all it's a robbers paradise aswell
A wonderful city, moved to the city 12 years ago and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me. So grateful for this beautiful city and its great people. Thank you Newcastle and thank you Geordies.
The model yellow double decker is a NE icon, like red buses are to London. It was powered by overhead electricity lines, but as it has tyres & doesn't run on rails, it's a trolley bus, not a tram. You just strolled past the Turbinia, that's powered by the world's first practical steam turbine, so it's hugely significant. Every power station and jet engine originates from it. You sat in a yurt (or the frame of one) in the bar, a type of tent used by yak herders in Mongolia.
Newcastle is massive when you take in the surrounding area, people who live far from the city centre will just say "I'm from Newcastle", despite living over 10 miles away. Anywhere West of Newcastle is just beautiful nature and countryside, which is for many the best part about living here; with the Lake District right on our doorstep.
It's really huge! And that's another advantage point because you get to see/do a lot of interesting stuff :) We really liked our trip to the north so possibly will pay another visit later this summer! The building you point out at @5:34 near to the Castle is called Moot Hall and is the old law courts - I was a juror there in 2003-ish which is why I know - the newer law courts are on the Quayside, but they still use Moot Hall if the newer courts are at capacity.

Newcastle is the best city in England. I've loved visiting the place ever since I was a little kid and my Grandma would take me there on day trips. Nowadays it has a thriving underground music scene catering to all sorts of tastes/genres and I love it.
The Metro system is actually about to get new trains later this year- they're in testing right now and have been for a while but they should prove to be a lot more modern than the present.
Wonderful. I have lived in Manchester for quite a few years and my children were born here and I love the city. But my dad's family are from Newcastle and Gateshead and my mum's family are all from Durham mining villages both sides going back hundreds of years. I was born in Durham city but grew up in Hebburn (just over the river next to Jarrow). It doesn't matter how long I've been away this is still 'going home' for me. And I suddenly felt so homesick watching this lovely film. And a wee bit tearful to be honest. Thank you.

guys, sometimes, you will see stand alone buildings, over the centuries, things were built next to them closed down, then tore down, because empty, but there are buildings that are listed, either grade 1 or grade 2 and cant be touched so to speak, they are protected. to protect the history
The cathedral has a strong connection with Denmark. During WWII danish fishermen were stranded at sea during the occupation. They were taken in by Newcastle and the cathederal would hold cross cultural events. They still hold a danish banquet once a year 👍
Like hundreds of take away shops , and zero shops to actually shop in . The butcher market is all but finished full of even more take aways non English. Sticky dirty pavements ,overflowing giant bins that stink to high heaven, unless you go back a couple hundred year and and are a real true gordie uou will say the trueth and stop seing this through rose tinted glasses, it's a dirty filthy unsafe place to be, unless you want to be robbed?

Nice, love the old period architecture in Newcastle. Also, am a fan of those arcade shopping alley and the Grainger market is lovely especially those old charming old stores. I am not a drinker but I do like the vibes and the deco at the pub. Very unique and the pies look yum.

Earl Grey the tea is named after Charles Earl Grey. However, he was known for in the North for never actually visiting the North during his time in power so the people of Newcastle built a statue of him so he would overlook Newcastle fir the rest of his time.
No vampires buried in St Andrews churchyard, but Gallowgate - the street that it stands on - is an abbreviation of Gallows Gate, where felons were hanged just outside the city wall, hence the area of unconsecrated ground in the churchyard.
It's way different from any other cathedral we've visited in England and we were so glad to see that it's organising so many events for the public! Even if it's an old historical site 👀✨
The funny part is when she says ‘Georgies’ That’s where the name Geordies comes from. Because in the north they were loyal to the king of England, they were called Georgies Boys (King George), which later turned to ‘Geordies’, so she wasn’t wrong.

You mentioned the new building construction when you were near the Theatre Royal. That is to house thousands of civil servants and is funded by the Reuben brothers, part owners of Newcastle United

The Millennium Bridge was the worlds 1st Pivoting / Tilting bridge, and possibly still is the worlds only one. Also, Grey Street was voted the best street in Europe about 20+ years ago,

Lived in Newcastle during college. Wild times. Keep heading north to Northumberland (where i live now) and its soaked in just as much history as the city. So many hidden gems around this part of the UK that no one knows about. Thats why the shops are shut. No one comes here. Thats why i love seeing videos like these popping up really showcasing the city and its secrets. I hope they help other people discover what cracking place it is up here

Newcastle is a major English city that makes for an excellent city break, it's vibrant and there is plenty of superb architecture to be found on its buildings ... i've just stayed in a local travelodge, and spent a week there myself, and i don't think i've ever seen so many football shirts about in ANY city, Newcastle ones of course .... it is also really well known for its excellent night life ..... the area off the quayside can indeed be quite hilly though, as you found out!

Also, the Bridge lights up in multicolour at night 🎉❤

Newcastle is a fabulous city. Small enough to be friendly and familiar, large enough to offer all the trappings of a major city. And on the doorstep is a breathtakingly beautiful coast and countryside, castles, history, heritage you name it.
We love cities like this because there is something for everyone 😍 And the people create an amazing atmosphere - we felt at home straight away!
Yeah the north east coastline is really amazing. From Seaburn all the way up to scotland, it's just amazing, I live in Whitley bay and love walking along the coast every day and often drive further up north and keep finding new spots that are just beautiful
Untill we try and go to our once beautifull clean friendly city centre.
That's when even us as gordies get a terrible shock !!!!! It's 75per cent filthy, full of non English ? And almost zero shops or stores
But plenty eaterys, most of them also not !!! English .
And on a very good day, you can get your wallet stolen, 😢

I'm a Southerner, but a proud Newcastle United fan (family & Alan Shearer reasons). Newcastle Upon Tyne is a truly, truly special, beautiful place. The people are wonderful, warm and friendly, proud of their city and welcoming to anyone who comes to enjoy. It's just a lovely place, the architecture and history is incredible, the river Tyne is beautiful, the football club is in my biased opinion, the greatest most passionate in the land, and the nightlife is absolutely incredible. A fantastic place to spend time.
The amount of travelling football fans who have asked me where x y and z is and I say "howay let me show ye man" and made friends with them that I catch up with and have a catch up when they come back the seasons after. It's always been London clubs that have been so nice and open to having a good laugh.
It is nice to hear such words from what you called a "southerner" because it really shows that the north has a lot to offer :) Thanks for watching and we have no doubt from the comments that Geordies are just as proud of their region ❤️

Wish you'd had time for the Victoria tunnel, Black Friars, the Great North Museum, the Laing Art Gallery, Jesmond Dene, (you missed some great hidden bars in the Grainger Market). You could have taken the metro 20 mins and had time at the beach x. Don't forget Beamish open air museum but you'd need a full day for that. Oh well save it for your next visit 😊

I’m from Middlesbrough and now live I the City of Durham so I’m from the North East region . In essence Newcastle is the largest city and could be said to be the regions capital . I’ve quite a few Geordie pals and Newcastle is an amazing city , very vibrant , it’s buzzing with a lot of history too . One of the best things about Newcastle is it’s people like all North East folk they are friendly , very welcoming you won’t find more friendly folk than this region .
If your young in Newcastle you can have the time of your life too endless bars , clubs , Restaurants as a young man I loved the record shops in Newcastle. There’s plenty to do , I’ve never had a bad night out there .
It's amazing how much this city has to offer! We literally absorb energy from the surroundings, so we immediately felt the good energy flowing from people who were friendly and helpful :) It's wonderful to hear from locals how they like life in Newcastle (and the surrounding area!).

How do you not know about Newcastle? Always been ranked as one of the best, usually the best nightlife destinations in the UK. Also always considered one of the best away trips for football fans around the country.
It has some of the most beautiful architecture & finest stretches of coastline anywhere.

As someone who lives in the Midlands, people know it's a good night out, but they have absolutely no idea about how nice the city is. They seem to have some strange ideas about it being horrible.

Never been there ourselves so we wanted to check it out! Many people don't know about how amazing Newcastle is so thus the title 😜 We've received so many comments form the locals not to share the truth because indeed even if it's ranked one of the best cities/nightlife destinations, not many actually know how nice the people or atmosphere is in the North compared to the South.

Definitely underrated as a city. A great place to base yourself when exploring the North East. Having the Metro is a big plus in that respect.
Totally agree! We could have easily stayed for longer and explore more of the cities around :) We were quite surprised how close for example Durham was - only 14 minutes by train!

Bit always stay away from our city centre it's filthy dirty full of no shops and plenty beggars ,and druggies the druggies are all home grown gordie but the hundreds of beggars are all non english
Enjoyed hearing the sea gulls. They are actually Kittiwakes. A rare colony based around the Tyne bridge if you listen carefully their call is kitti wake.
The millennial bridge is super especially when it “blinks” shut to let larger boats past.
Newcastle is like lots of other North East places. A Hidden Gem. The countryside nearby is fantastic. Weardale, Teesdale and the coast are stunning.

I totally agree, I visited Newcastle and Gateshead for the first time last year for work. Everyone I met up there was great and the area itself was really amazing with incredible history almost around every corner, as well as some fantastic restaurants and bars. I will definitely go back up there for a city break in the future 👍

One of the more comprehensive Newcastle videos I've watched, and good that you went inside the church and cathedral and appreciated the history. Good tour of the Grainger Market too. Hope you return one day. Nicely appropriate for Newcastle that the visit ends with an elaborate beer picking process ahead of pie and mash!

Lovely comprehensive tour guys. Moved from the Midlands to Newcastle nearly 40 years ago and I love it and the North East people. Grainger Town has kept all it's facades but like the Lloyds building, many have been gutted and rebuilt behind.
With St James' Park being in the city centre, it sounds like an express train going through when Newcastle score. The fans are the most loyal in the country.

In ouseburn, you can take a tour of the Victoria Tunnel, which runs under the city to the town moor (by St James Park)

The thing that intrigues me as a Newcastle resident is the amount of southern English people who live Here ! Think it goes under the radar a bit…but I seem to run into so many ! and lovely people they are too…when it comes to my city I am quite happy with the way David dimberley described it … it’s a handsome city !
I believe all the southern people that came for a visit just planned to stay longer because they enjoyed it so much 😜 But jokes aside, we truly believe that the quality of life, friendly people & property prices are so much better compared to the south so probably that's the reason why!

Glad you seemed to enjoy our city, Ive watched quite.a few videos of people visiting but yours was the best. At night is when Newcastle really comes alive with over 500 pubs in the city centre. The metro system although in parts is showing its age is fantastic you can get to the beach in about 20 minutes. Hope you enjoyed your stay 🙂

@@JayandKarolina Yeah in about 20 minutes you can get off at Tynemouth which has a street with shops, Bars and restaurants. It also a chippy. It has a lovely cove called St Edwards Bay or you can walk along to Whitley Bays Long sands then into Cullercoats cove which also have Metro Stations. They rent out paddle boards or you could have a surfboard lesson. The water can be a bit cold though 😂
Great video. Newcastle is the best city in the UK. It really comes alive on an evening too. Also, regarding the metro system being dated, there's been hundreds of millions of pounds invested in a new fleet of state of the art trains which are arriving later this year. 😊
I wouldn’t say Newcastle is underrated, it often gets voted the best city to live, work, part etc. Probably a lot of ignorant southerners look upon it as grim, and are actually surprised when they visit…
I would say so! But once people visit Newcastle and see how nice the city is and how friendly the people are, they will be coming back frequently! We had heard before that it's a nice city but we didn't exactly expect that we would feel so great over there! :)

I loved my newcastle once it was a real lovely friendly vibrant place, but the change is unforgiveable, thank you labour who have run our city into the ground ,as they have always run all council bourghs, never mind who's in number 10.
The council bourghs have always been run by labour, and our city is filthy dirty, and full of nothing but eateries non english.
And they are happy to bulldoze all out victorian building to the ground to build nothing but tin sheds, student or migrent accommodation .
There is nothing to offer any where at all it's a robbers paradise aswell

The model yellow double decker is a NE icon, like red buses are to London. It was powered by overhead electricity lines, but as it has tyres & doesn't run on rails, it's a trolley bus, not a tram.
You just strolled past the Turbinia, that's powered by the world's first practical steam turbine, so it's hugely significant. Every power station and jet engine originates from it.
You sat in a yurt (or the frame of one) in the bar, a type of tent used by yak herders in Mongolia.

Newcastle is massive when you take in the surrounding area, people who live far from the city centre will just say "I'm from Newcastle", despite living over 10 miles away. Anywhere West of Newcastle is just beautiful nature and countryside, which is for many the best part about living here; with the Lake District right on our doorstep.
It's really huge! And that's another advantage point because you get to see/do a lot of interesting stuff :) We really liked our trip to the north so possibly will pay another visit later this summer!

The building you point out at @5:34 near to the Castle is called Moot Hall and is the old law courts - I was a juror there in 2003-ish which is why I know - the newer law courts are on the Quayside, but they still use Moot Hall if the newer courts are at capacity.
This is so interesting! We always appreciate the council efforts when they try to preserve the institutional buildings because if they're still in use it's quite rare and yet beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Newcastle is the best city in England. I've loved visiting the place ever since I was a little kid and my Grandma would take me there on day trips. Nowadays it has a thriving underground music scene catering to all sorts of tastes/genres and I love it.

The Metro system is actually about to get new trains later this year- they're in testing right now and have been for a while but they should prove to be a lot more modern than the present.

Wonderful. I have lived in Manchester for quite a few years and my children were born here and I love the city. But my dad's family are from Newcastle and Gateshead and my mum's family are all from Durham mining villages both sides going back hundreds of years. I was born in Durham city but grew up in Hebburn (just over the river next to Jarrow). It doesn't matter how long I've been away this is still 'going home' for me. And I suddenly felt so homesick watching this lovely film. And a wee bit tearful to be honest. Thank you.

The seagulls are actually kittiwakes, it’s the furthest in land they nest in Europe. The poop is a pain but the birds are protected.

guys, sometimes, you will see stand alone buildings, over the centuries, things were built next to them closed down, then tore down, because empty, but there are buildings that are listed, either grade 1 or grade 2 and cant be touched so to speak, they are protected. to protect the history

The cathedral has a strong connection with Denmark. During WWII danish fishermen were stranded at sea during the occupation. They were taken in by Newcastle and the cathederal would hold cross cultural events. They still hold a danish banquet once a year 👍

Like hundreds of take away shops , and zero shops to actually shop in .
The butcher market is all but finished full of even more take aways non English.
Sticky dirty pavements ,overflowing giant bins that stink to high heaven, unless you go back a couple hundred year and and are a real true gordie uou will say the trueth and stop seing this through rose tinted glasses, it's a dirty filthy unsafe place to be, unless you want to be robbed?

Nice, love the old period architecture in Newcastle. Also, am a fan of those arcade shopping alley and the Grainger market is lovely especially those old charming old stores. I am not a drinker but I do like the vibes and the deco at the pub. Very unique and the pies look yum.

Earl Grey the tea is named after Charles Earl Grey. However, he was known for in the North for never actually visiting the North during his time in power so the people of Newcastle built a statue of him so he would overlook Newcastle fir the rest of his time.

No vampires buried in St Andrews churchyard, but Gallowgate - the street that it stands on - is an abbreviation of Gallows Gate, where felons were hanged just outside the city wall, hence the area of unconsecrated ground in the churchyard.

It's way different from any other cathedral we've visited in England and we were so glad to see that it's organising so many events for the public! Even if it's an old historical site 👀✨

You mentioned the new building construction when you were near the Theatre Royal. That is to house thousands of civil servants and is funded by the Reuben brothers, part owners of Newcastle United

like sunderland, after the ship building was lost back in the day, there has been some great regenration spend on both quay sides, newcastle and sunderland,

sunderland are mackems, it said to come from ship building we make them then they take away, hence mackem
hartlepool are know as monkey hangers, this comes from when the ships went exploring and a monkey was brought back or found on board and they thought it was a spy, so they hung it
middlesboro are know as the smoggies, because of the steel industry, the furnesses,
The Millennium Bridge was the worlds 1st Pivoting / Tilting bridge, and possibly still is the worlds only one. Also, Grey Street was voted the best street in Europe about 20+ years ago,

Lived in Newcastle during college. Wild times. Keep heading north to Northumberland (where i live now) and its soaked in just as much history as the city. So many hidden gems around this part of the UK that no one knows about. Thats why the shops are shut. No one comes here. Thats why i love seeing videos like these popping up really showcasing the city and its secrets. I hope they help other people discover what cracking place it is up here

Were very castle rich in this area ,you now need to explore the city’s outskirts ie coast and and the beautiful Northumberland countryside and coast line but keep it quiet when you get back down south ,we all love our well kept secret

Newcastle is a major English city that makes for an excellent city break, it's vibrant and there is plenty of superb architecture to be found on its buildings ... i've just stayed in a local travelodge, and spent a week there myself, and i don't think i've ever seen so many football shirts about in ANY city, Newcastle ones of course .... it is also really well known for its excellent night life ..... the area off the quayside can indeed be quite hilly though, as you found out!
