    3:06 u mentioned about broad spectrum antibiotics, which help wipe out the normal flora as well and the opportunistic bacteria then can enter the body! Which we don't want, so my question is 1: why use broad spectrum antibiotics at all 2: what is the alternative

    Sir you mentioned that if we use broad spectrum antibiotic the normal flora will be lost so the bacteria/microorganisms(pathogenic) can enter the body through the mechanical barrier easily...so broad spectrum antibiotic doesn't destroy the pathogenic one but the normal flora?? If your is on the favor of the question then normal flora will be restored after a certain time..then again we ingest antibiotic to the patient to remove only microbial flora?

      krishanu dutta thank you for your question. Broad spectrum antibiotics kill most pathogens (normal or abnormal). However, absence of normal allows abnormal to gain hold (opportunistically) in some cases.
