State insurance in certain states is enough. I have free healthcare and in my state that even pays for ambulance rides, I've had had major surgery 3 times, ER visits ect, covers it all. Certain states you can get away with being stupid asf.

I've also been hit by a car in a crosswalk at 25 miles an hour. I broke my wrist because I put my arm out when I got hit. Somehow everything slowed down in the moment I connected with the car. Then sped up really fast again.

I remember on 1000 Ways to Die, there was a segment where some backyard wrestlers were doing shit like you mentioned, the weedwacker, the light tubes, etc. A guy ended up dying from mercury poisoning from multiple hits with the light tubes. Insane!

This reminds me of a sword fighting "organization" that exists in Germany. They fight with sharp swords and get some nasty wounds all the time. I believe a couple of them even died. Massive respect to Charlie for his knowledge of wrestling. I grew up watching ECW and backyard wrestling. Over the years I've seen a few GCW matches, but one of the worst matches I can still remember watching was a 200,000 thumbtack deathmatch.
A WHAT? 😂 Nah but fr though, I grew up watching the birth of the PG era of WWE, but was introduced with the attitude and ruthless aggression era, which is what got me hooked on wrestling. Come my teenage high school years, I watched a lot of GCW and CZW, I helped set the ring up for a GCW show once and it was okay, my buddy snuck me a few beers which made the show more entertaining than it really was. It's insane how many Indy promotions and backyard wrestling channels there still are to this day trying to replicate that 80's ECW feel.

I used to go along and watch my dad help setup the ring/seating areas etc. And in return we got front row seats to watch the shows. Come my teenage high school years, I watched a lot of GCW and CZW, I helped set the ring up for a GCW show once and it was okay, my buddy snuck me a few beers which made the show more entertaining than it really was. It's insane how many Indy promotions and backyard wrestling channels there still are to this day trying to replicate that 80's ECW feel.
