@@victordia099 it’s been like this since the M1 iMac release. You get what you paid for. That goes same with spec, with your basic config your mileage of course will be limited.

I have the last Intel iMac, 27" 2020 with a i7-10700k and RX5500XT, it is gorgeous and works like a champ. I wont be buying a new iMac until they make at least 27", preferably 32".
And no I am not paying the astronomical price for a Mac mini or Studio with a Studio display.

Thank you, for posting this comment video about the new colorful 24-inch M-3 iMac. It appears, you selected the low specification version. However, based on some of your comments, you should have picked-up the higher end model with the extended keyboard with number pad, and added the Track Pad which would remove the need to use the magic mouse. In 1997, I started using Apple's All-on-One desktop systems and my first was a 5400 computer. Also, just like yourself in my collection is a glossy white 24-inch Intel iMac running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. So, let me see, just what has Apple, Inc. taken away from the iMac models over the years ... 1st) We lost the DVD super-drive; 2nd) We lost the Fire-wire 400 port; 3rd) We lost the Fire-wire 800 port, 4th) We lost the Thunderbolt 2 port, and 5th) We lost the USB "A" ports. My goal later this year, is to pick-up a used "space gray" 27-inch iMac Pro to add to my desktop collection (smile...smile).

The magic mouse is horrible, it really makes new users' experience so much worse. I got my first ever MacBook then got the mouse thinking it's gonna be great and portable, and yes it is portable but it's horrendous even ergonomics aside, somehow it's incredibly choppy and slow, and you especially notice this when using a 120hz+ monitor. My wired Razer mouse runs butter smooth at 240hz, while the Magic Mouse looks like it's moving at about 40hz, it's seriously disgusting. Even on the MacBook's 60hz display it looks bad. The sensor is also on the top; not having it in the center makes it feel weird when doing precise movements, overall feels inconsistent to control it. When secondary clicking, you have to lift your main finger first because it doesn't have multitouch or something. The only good thing is the ability to freely scroll through Final Cut, Logic Pro and on web pages, and to zoom in horizontally or vertically, it helps productivity, too bad everything else hurts productivity.

Gets base model iMac. Complains that it doesn't handle heavy use. Doesn't make sense.

no do not exterminate the magic mouse... FIX it in the next version, but dont get rid of it lol... it needs a bigger hump, a usb c port in the front, a bigger battery, smaller lower friction skates and more color ways.

I would have to disagree with you on the iMac being in decline. With the iMac design making such a dramatic change to the design people have a hard time letting it go or thinking now its 24" not 27" that its such a huge change too. They give the silver option which is the same as what the iMac looked before just with white bezels. With the white bezels to a white wall you don't even notice it. The power from the M1 was a game changer and was a powerhouse even compared to the iMac Pro. People forget in such a short time coming from intel to arm based what a huge leap it was. Now M3 its beyond what anyone could ask for in power being able to do all for photo, video editing and do pro work flows and of course basic tasks. It is also significantly cheaper than the base model 27" was. The 4.5 screen is just fine instead of being 5k. I honestly can't tell a diff and have a studio display at work. The magic keyboard is fine and you can get the Touch ID with the mid model or higher end or pay 30 extra dollars and get it. If you do not like the Magic Mouse get the trackpad. You can get both from the order screen from apple. Change in design is hard for people to accept and you can tell still that's an iMac to the point it does not need a logo on the front. I have not noticed with my iMac any glitches or it being slow in anyway. I have an m1 MacBook Pro and that is just fine for all as well.

Fantastic review. Unlike a lot of other RUclipsrs who basically regurgitate what apple says…or wants to hear…you are unbiased in your review. If it’s rubbish you say it..all the best in your channel.

It's not all about the M3 chip. Your issues are about all the other crappy parts Apple has put into this machine. Low ram, slow SSD etc. Apple users are a special lbreed. You'll keep buying and Apple will keep doing the same crap.

I don't buy Apple anymore since Steve died and they turned into Soulless Greedy Corp. but I do still have a Mac Mini and Macbook Pro running Linux, so I still use that hardware.
The iMac was also a machine I always wanted when I was a fan but it was out of my budget. My first Mac was the 2008 White plastic MacBook and I loved that machine. Much like the colourful and silver iMac's, it had soul. You could tell that the iMac was made with passion and great design and Steve and Jony knew what the mission of the iMac was - Steve's vision of the Mac being an all-in-one PC. They were the do-it-all machine for you, your children, schools, pro's, anyone.
They were beautiful, approachable, and as you said, we all wanted one. But with the massive Macbook sales Apple has forgotten what the iMac is all about. They no longer know why they make it. They should be positioning this as the Family Mac, making it fun and ready for creativity by the whole family, yet they don't. They literally just make it because they have the SKU but have completely forgotten what it's for, hence it lacks soul.
They designed it as a cold office/reception/checkout machine, which it's not meant to be - it meant to be a warm, fun, colourful, exciting family machine.
As I said, Apple have lost their soul. Basically, when Steve died, the Apple we knew died. Now we have an Apple that looks like Apple on the outside but inside it's IBM....
