Hank was SO MUCH grouchier and angrier in the first episode and to a lesser extent, in the first season.
He was grouchier, but less uptight and quicker to accept Bobby.
i like to think the tornado episode where he almost dies(s2e2) is when hank learned to appreciate things more
@@10169711 also the anger management episode helped with his anger I think
@AcidChurch, I'm not too sure if it really helped since Dale's the one who was being a turd burglar the whole episode. It's possible, Big Joey's? funeral was the tipping point but I'd personally go with the tornado episode.
@@nevergivingup3434 tbh it wouldn’t be a surprise, he literally watched a friend
d i e of anger.
The moral of the episode was less about hank actually having anger issues (cause he didn’t)
And more just about him learning to understand anger as a necessary emotion itself. (And knowing the time and the place to use it)
The episode literally had one characters life be ended and saved due to anger
KoTH was always less about characters always 100% changing their ways and more about just findint common middle grounds, so i think its a good theory

His face always kills me.

It honestly sounds like something Mike improvised and they animated it, lmao.
Sounded like the guy on Bevis and Buthead.. Sounded like BUTHEAD trying to figure something out.
0:31 you’re welcome 😂
Funny and Heartwarming lol
The shading here looks different than the rest of the show
It's the pilot episode, they tend to look a little different than the rest of the show

You...uh...family...
You're not making this easy on me boy
Ok...Iloveyounomatterwhatyoudo. There. Let's go get something to eat.
Vin diesel
I'm disappointed in Vin Diesel for making too many Fast movies. Cars jumping out of airplanes and also cars swinging in the air like spiderman, no sir you took it too far shame on you Vin Diesel!
Feelings of fondness and what not
Poor Hank. Never had a decent father himself, and is in total denial over it.
The resemblence between hank an my dad is just...
Scary...
does he sell propane
Is he a Propane Lantern?
bwaaaawaaaawaaa
I got the clip of Hank talking about Europeans and Soccer to try and get some self realization out of him and how judgemental he is about everything he doesn't understand and instead he laughed really hard and said "Is that true? About Soccer? I believe that."
.......nevermind Dad.
You ain't right.
'Damn yur my boy' gets me every time
Reminds me of next Friday
I feel like that weird sound was mike judge (the voice of hank) kinda messing up but trying to fix it lol it's still funny though
He's trying to tell Bobby he loves him, which is hard for Hank. That's why he made that noise. Do you think the people editing the audio would really keep a screw up in the pilot episode just for a laugh?
@@patrickmccutcheon8860 Uh... yeah, actually. Especially because it's funny and works for the scene.
@@crazyeyes8962 What I was saying was it was intentional, it wasn't some screw up with the voice acting. He meant for it to be squeaky and nervous and uneasy. "Because it's funny and fits with the scene" to take your quote.
The Dead Peterson Kid maybe it wasn’t in the script. They could’ve been recording and he made that sound and it worked with the atmosphere, so they kept it. Sorta how a lot of actors will go off script or just improv and it will work so well that it’s kept.
Occam's razor says it was intended and deliberate. Any other conclusion requires you to jump through logical hoops to get there.
Dammit you're mah boy!
You would never get a scene like this out of family guy... Good ol' King of the Hill :)

That's because Mike Judge is a genius and seth mcfarlane is an idiot.
Dang 'ol
@@kingbaby8761 he's an idiot sure but he made $300 million off other idiots so who is the real dingus here?

Graphics were very weird in this episode.
They wanted to test out some shading techniques
Looks like the First episodes
graphics lol
That's called animation, and they drew it by hand.
Well, it is the very first episode ever made. All pilot episodes go this way with experimenting different animation styles and so on.
Hanks emotional language = Yer ma boy!
Oh God, this is one of my absolute favorite moments in KoTH. Every time I think of it I start laughing, and any time I do a similar noise I say that.
@dancasaurs Here's how it would go
"Bobby... I uh... think it's time I gave you the talk... about... relations."
"Ok Dad, what do you want to know?"
See look he punched him! See what twig boy? uh nevermind
I always lose it at the FeELiNgS Of fOndNeSs line.
my relationship with my dad is like that lol, we joke a little bit but we're always formal with each other :\
Season 1 KOTH was Art
truth
Is this a pilot or something? It's animated differently...
Yes, it's technically the pilot, but it's also the first episode
You think you could upload the "You talkin' about my Grass Blades, Canada?" Clip? :)
You talkin' about my lawn Dauterive?
_Ha I love it_
He shows more love on propane than on his own son. Which is really sad.
Hank should've spent more time with his son, having fun together.
Fishing, football, throwing rocks...
Being a real lovable father.
Most underrated commenter, the OG.
back when the show had shading
"Did you see that?! He hit him!"
*I work for a living, and i mean real work not writing down some gobbelty-good!*
How much do you want to bet the weird noise was something Mike Judge did on accident and they just went with it?
The animation looks better in this episode.
@werty1432k ? you uploaded a animation clip that is not yours and cut it, wow where do I sign I wish to donate one million dollars.
@dbzandrs2 Yup, its my channel :) and I'm the one who spends time finding the clips, taking requests for clips, editing the clips and uploading them, 163 and counting! :D

Doesn't Bobby disappoint him in almost every episode?
"that boy ain't right"
Yeah but he still loves him. It's just that he and Bobby rarely see eye to eye.
To be fair, this is the first episode. Bobby's character hadn't really been fleshed out yet and he hadn't gotten a lot of the odd quirks that would eventually make Hank uncomfortable. Even then though, I don't think Hank is disappointed in Bobby, more just doesn't understand him.
It more like hank not open minded like bobby
Iloveyounomatterwhatyoudo
_You're ma boy_
Bobby is just a potato.
Gatt dang itt Hank😍settle down and say🙄I love yu son, you're ma👦🅱oy, with everything that entails..

This show deconstructs toxic masculinity in such a simple and gentle way. Hank is best father, hands down.
It shows fathers are flawed but only want our best
@Crimson Outdoors Co. Oh? I can easily come up with both positive and negative traits associated with masculinity.
Keeping emotions bottled up until you explode would be an example of a negative.
Hank has overcome that ingrained bit of his masculinity, that showing emotions is a display of weakness. He has discovered that showing love to his son is a much better, less toxic way to flex his masculinity.
@@MoltandMigrate Well said!
It is troublesome that many men seem to have difficulty expressing their feelings and showing some vulnerability. Many would rather "act macho".
