Right on! My own father was raised by a Hank. It seems I became his therapist but I also need therapy. The tricycle indeed continues but sometimes we take the training wheels away to test our expressive natures.
Hank has said he gave up on Bobby and made him quit his business because he didn’t think his son was charming, well put together, and good looking enough.
honestly loved watching their relationship grow throughout the series. One of my fave KotH eps is the shooting contest one, since it showed both having a love for shooting, and Bobby was excited to do something with his dad. Propaniacs was good too. Unlike other TV dads (homer, Peter, etc)...we can see that Hank genuinely loves Bobby and cares deeply for him, and just wants to make sure he'll be alright. Even if he doesn't fully agree with his comedy ventures, or other things Bobby gets into, Hank doesn't flat out refuse them, but will see if it's something that could teach bobby about life, or help him understand Bobby better.
Bro, Simpson and Family guy is more about over the top, this could never happen IRL comedy and situations. Of course they're not gonna be #1 dad. KOTH is more grounded and realistic.
@@koibitothescrublord4977 Even outside of the situations those series get into, they're not good dads/parents. On general principle they're badish parents. Those series could be grounded in reality and they'd still be bad dads.
“Because you’re never interested in anything good.” I forgot that line and I’m glad I came back and saw it again. Hank has no fear to say the things a dad is thinking.
@@tfredrick01 if that were the case I don’t think I’d be named after him and his father, and his father before him. And yet here we are. I have proof my father loved and took care of me and saw a bright future for me to pass on the family name. What do you have?
E h h h . . . Hank has a LOT to learn about raising Bobby. If you want a dad that is more willing to support and listen despite his struggles expressing his love like Hank does, Bob Belcher is the better dad. Hank is still a great character tho.
@@thecunninlynguist Hank has said he gave up on Bobby and made him quit his business because he didn’t think his son was charming, well put together, and good looking enough.
Hank's upbringing was rough. While he is stoic and has a no-nonsense attitude, unlike Cotton and Bobby, Hank is a man of integrity. Like a true father, he passes on honorable and masculine traits to his son. You remember Bobby's hesitation in harassing Caleb's parents? It was against everything Hank taught him and he got his father's OK first.
At it's core, King of the Hill is about the father/son relationship. Not just Hank and Bobby, but Cotton and Hank, Dale and Joseph, Joseph and John Redcorn, etc. Many episodes have Bobby influenced by another male role model and Hank's desperation to maintain influence.

they had an interesting relationship but didn't like the fact that Hank tried to turn Bobby into him and crapped on anything and everything Bobby liked or had an interest in
His inability to express himself mixed with Bobby's very expressive nature proves he's a good dad. He broke the cycle

Cotton put it best: “You made Bobby! All I made was you…”
As time goes by, I'm starting to realize Hank and Bobby are my favorite TV Father & Son.
love them too. shout out to Bob belcher and Gene too
I'm starting to hurl.
Hank Hill is actually the best cartoon dad, but when all the others set the bar so low eve being close to average is a good thing
Bob Belcher is arguably the best.
Lol
Honestly I’d said both Hank and Heinz are the best cartoon dads, but that’s just my opinion

They saved the best for last

"I don't hate you, Bobby."
"I meant soccer" 😄
"Oh...yeah, I hate soccer."
@greywolf7577 I hate how he hates soccer, I get it, it's very American to hate soccer, but it still annoys me.
Hank Hill is probably the most normal cartoon dad next to Bandit Heeler from Bluey.
Bob Belcher?
This is the best father son relationship there is🧡🧡
I put bob and his kids from bobs burgers higher up there
