I've played Everdream Valley for about 60 hours so far, so I can safely say, I really like it. The graphics are beautiful, the animals are adorable, I love so many of the farm mechanics and even though the world does have a lot of repetition, it is still very lovely. You discover new plantable crops by finding them out in the world, and you can find things to bring back to your treehouse (you get a treehouse at some point and it's very cute). All that being said... it has some major flaws. It does NOT have a town with other NPCs. It's your grandparents and the merchant, that's it. The explanations for the tutorials are very lacking and I had to rely a lot on the help from other players in the Steam discussion forums to figure things out. Quests come at you in a weird order so there are so many you can't complete until you complete OTHER quests you get later, but the game doesn't explain that. And the dreams... suck. So this is a personal opinion, but I strongly dislike most minigames. And the dreams are ALL minigames. Most of them are hard with very clunky or overly sensitive controls, which shatters the feeling of coziness for me. And the game is saturated with minigames all over the waking world as well, and most of them start to feel tedious very quickly. The merchant is the only place to buy new things but other than offering new animals and clothes, he pretty much only sells you things that you've sold to him, rendering him mostly useless. There are several things you might need but you can't buy them from him OR craft them; for example, you need jugs, buckets, or canisters to milk your cows and goats, but you can't buy or craft these things, you have to find them on the farm or in the world, which means they're very finite and your cows and goats will frequently be sick from you being unable to milk them. I also find the mechanics for getting new animals back to the farm can be very tedious and annoying, especially as you bring them back from farther and farther distances. Sorry, I know this is a very long post and I rambled, but I have a lot of thoughts after playing so much the last few days. On the bright side, the developers are VERY active in the Steam forums. They've already released a patch to fix bugs thanks to feedback from players during early release, and they've said they're working on resolving minigames because so many players are disliking them. They also added a feature in settings where you can make wolves friendlier, which if you're like me and hate demonization of wolves, is very good. They also have hinted that they plan to continue updating and adding to the game, so there's definitely more to come.

I really love when you say which games you did on the deck!, if I’m unsure that will usually push it into buying column for me! Dude, you mentioned a Barbie horse game you had as a kid and that reminded me of a Barbie horse game I had as a kid that I absolutely loved and played all of the time and now I have to hunt it down
I've played a few hours of No Place Like Home on the Switch. I'm enjoying it but thank you for saying that you found the controls difficult. That's my biggest gripe. It took me ages to figure out how to plant and water my garden. Placing buildings takes weirdly so much space and figuring out how to line things up was difficult. I kept thinking whats wrong with me?! Why am I having so much trouble? I think the controls for switch were not optimized at all. I finally got going but its not comfortable or easy like most farming games. Fortunately clearing trash, which I love is fairly easy. Thanks Payton!
I have been playing no place like home on switch. I love the cleaning tool & the music. My partner found the controls a bit tricky & I do agree that the tutorial could have been better. Once you play a bit longer it becomes clearer & it's worth persevering. I have played the demo for everdream valley & really wanted to love it. I also kept getting lost. I will watch some others playing it & maybe give it another chance.

Few of these look great, but I don't know if I'll end up getting any of these. Biggest one to get my attention was Finding Hannah because of the story. Next month is a big one. I think Story of Seasons: It's a Wonderful Life comes next month, but not sure. One game I definitely plan on getting is Dordogne. And while this game is definitely NOT a cozy game at all (it's like polar opposite lol), I am excited for Spike Chunsoft's next game Rain Code.

Are you a House Flipper fan? Both the Pets and Farm DLC add even more coziness to an already very zen decorating game IMHO. I thought they sounded odd as DLC for it at first, and I still know I didn't need them, but it makes me smile to take a break from my decorating projects to just visit with my animals. And House Flipper 2 is coming out soon and will have even more robust building and decorating mechanics, like a color wheel!

I've seen a new Sloth game!! Came out this month, it's called Driftwood. You're a sloth who rides a longboard down different hills and you can dress it up and unlock new looks for your boards, and you sleep in a hammock when you're not riding. It doesn't seem cozy in theory but the backdrops and music are and well... you're a sloth so duh. lol
I hate the controls on the PC no place like home. Do you play mouse and keyboard or do you test out controllers on your trials. I have not played it in awhile but the controller option did not work previously.
Can anyone please give me a comparison of the conversation size between DDV and Everdream Valley? I’m asking because I already have DDV and can hardly see it due to being visually impaired. Everdream Valley looks adorable but if the conversation is the same size I would have problems with it too. I already have my Switch set on Zoom. Ty in advance for taking time to read and respond.
I too am playing Everdream Valley and I do really love it but.... a lot of things need to be explained more and some of the mini games just get me stuck. I've seen streamers do it in 10 seconds yet I'm 15 minutes in and can't finish. Had I not watched a streamer I would not have gotten the 60% complete that I did get. It kind of reminds me of the chicken that you had no idea how to do. Don't feel bad as I've watched a lot of streamers do the same thing. I've watched live replays screaming at the screen with out to do various things because they are doing it all wrong. So yes they need better explanations. Last night I rage quit over that minigame but it's part of the main story line quest so I'll start afresh today. One hint/tip I have is look on the quest screen (not the one that you sow on screen all the time but the one where you can choose which quests to follow) and notice which ones say main story line and do those first at least for now. When you are stuck or frustrated then spend time on side quests as some of them, I think, are supposed to take some time.

Unfortunately there were not many cozy Switch games released in May compared to PC- but most of these games have switch plans later down the line!

I refunded Hello goodboy cause the lack of fun gameplay. Too much dialogues for my taste.
Just starting Witch of Fern Island and so far I agree the controls are really clunky and npcs seem lifeless, but hopefully they will fix this.
