- On this episode we are going to open a few of the geodes that we have found creek walking.
We are going to use a tile saw to cut them open. A future video will be posted on polishing them for a final product.
Thanks for the video. I live in Blount County, Tennessee and I find similar geodes to the white ones in my yard.
@@ProspectorAl sweet, we love finding geodes too. I do wish we found more that were Agatized. Either way it’s always a treat finding a good hollow one. Thanks again for watching and the comment my friend. Take care! 👍🏻
Things in nature can be so beautiful.
You are exactly right and God’s creation is an amazing thing. Thanks again for leaving a comment and watching. 👍🏻
I’m going to visit Tennessee later this year and I was hoping there would be some cool rocks to search for. Thank you for sharing your rock finds!
Yes ma’am, you are welcome! Tennessee is a beautiful area to look for rocks. I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip and we wish you the best in your search. Happy Hunting! 🙂
Very beautiful geodes you got here. Glad you cut them open for us and shared them. I like how you cut them to stand up, smart.
Hey thanks City I just got to cough up the money one day for a lap grinder. Sure make those geodes look finished!
@@TennesseeRocks Yeah, I hear that too
Thanks for sharing. I saw the one where you went to the geode creek. Man, it was packed. So I wanted to see the results. I love geodes.
I'd like to see that awesome hunk of coral once you get it cleaned up. Its gonna be a stunner
Me too!
Hey thanks for watching and yes that creek was crazy packed with geodes. We hope to return and will be searching for highland rim geode agate. Thanks

There is so much iron you take a good magnet and just pick up rocks every where in east TN
Thanks for the comment! Could put a magnet on a pole a go rock fishing. Very cool ! Maybe soon we can do a Little Rock hunting in the mountains. We appreciate you watching! Thanks
The one with the Smokey quartz is stunning!
Thanks it’s the only one I’ve ever found that was smoky quartz . I hope I can find more.
Wonderful. Thank you. Subscribed.
Thanks for watching and we appreciate it. God Bless!
Thanks for sharing. Be in TN in 7 days. Hope to find some geods and agates!
Travel safe and have fun.
@@TennesseeRocks where bouts you at in Tennessee brother. I'm in Lawrence county and have a pile of geodes around a bottle tree in my yard that would fill up the bed of a pickup. Some big as soccer balls probably. I knap pretty regularly and just can't leave them when im out picking up flint cause I was so amazed by them as a youngun I guess.
Have you had much luck around the Hickman, Dickson, Murray county areas. When I was a kid I found a perfectly round geode in Hickman. When I busted it open it was full of purple, blue, and white geodes. Also I know where a ton
Of slag glass is located. If you are interested
Wow sounds like you found a rare Geode. Most of what we find have quartz crystals and calcite in them. I’ll have to try some Hickman co creeks this year. We find some slag glass in our area and it’s usually black. Neat stuff. Thanks for watching and happy rock hunting!
nice lot of geodes , sweet cut job , subscribed you
Thank you and we really appreciate you watching! 🙂👍🏻
want to take you to a spot we go where everything you see in the crickbed is geodes! everywhere..from boulders to tiny ones many rattlers..we have found very rare items there too including a conulata , the only jellyfish in world to have a shell. We found it 6 inches long fully intact all lines visible sitting on top of a rock in middle of the crickbed..next to a huge chunk of follized wood ..many fossils, and the crystals inside the geodes range from smoky n rose quartz to valuable ones like millerite..think I git that wrong a needle looking mineral grey black color filled inside the geode..got a nice peice of citron and many other finds arrowheads etc indian pieces. Never know what we are gonna find but always come home with some soecial treasures along with bins full of geodes..we take to schools teach kids and they do essays on how they are formed to get one to take home and break open..rattlers..they love it..work with boyscouts etc..love to take you there..its just into kentucky from where im at in Morristown TN 3 hour trip.
Where is this place in ky?
Hey thanks for the comment and for watching. We apologize and we must have overlooked this comment. We love finding geodes too and looks like you are located in a good area. Thanks again and we appreciate you sharing all these stories. We can tell you really have a passion for it. Take care and God Bless!
There are a lot of really big geodes in Woodbury Tennessee if you know where to go….
Hey Jerry thanks for that info and we appreciate you watching the channel. We will definitely keep that in mind if we are ever in that area. We sure do love finding them. We hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I live in murfreesboro where in woodbury would one start looking
First cut looks like a sawn off deer antler
I see what you are saying at it kind of does. Thanks again for watching and we appreciate the comment. Take care! 👍🏻
I live in middle tn. Can you give me some ideas on where to look for geodes? Want to take grandkids to hunt. Thanks
Try along the highland rims east or west. I believe less geodes to be found in the central basin area.
I am a rockhound since a young child. Moved from southeast Florida where there were no great rocks. I live in Middle TN. Are there any great prospecting places near me?
There are lots of creeks in middle Tennessee. If you stay close to the western highland rim and the eastern highland rim you will find more gravel bars. I recommend the (roadside geology of Tennessee book ) to get familiar with the type of rock layers that are exposed in your area. It’s a good book! As far as gold prospecting goes the closest place is in East Tennessee called Coker Creek. It’s in the Cherokee national forest. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Take care.
Hi, live here in middle TN and just found rock hounding as a hobby. That first or second one you showed cut open at the end looked like it had gold in it. Or was that just pyrite? I understand pyrite can be found in TN.
Hey thanks for dropping a comment my friend! I think the one your referring to is one that has quartz crystals that have some iron in the crystals. It can give it a golden color. I have seen some that are heavily saturated with iron and are a beautiful red color. Have fun out there !
Brian I'm learning and love agate and geodes. I live in Tennessee and wanted to learn about them and where to go. Ate you willing to talk about it with me?
Sure Jennifer I’ll try to help ! Thanks for watching.
Family of 5 looking for places in Tenn to find geodes, any recommendations
We have been told from a lot of people that around Woodbury TN there are some creeks that have geodes. We don’t give out our exact spots due to private land ownership out of respect of owners. Look for creaks outside of the central basin and more on the highland rims. Good luck and have fun !
Where at in Tennessee are you finding geodes? I am in Campbell county but can’t find any
Central TN
Where do you find your geodes in tn? I’m trying to find some every time I go out
You can actually find them along sand bars in many creeks and streams in Tennessee, along with a lot of other cool fossils and the occasional arrowhead, if you're lucky. I found the majority of my rocks along a creek in Middle Tn as a child.
Just like (itsnotthesamething) we walk the gravel bars in our local creeks in Middle TN. You can use google maps on the satellite mode to look at creeks in your area that have good gravel bars. Some creeks have more than others. It will take time to figure out which creeks hold the rocks or fossils your looking for but that’s what is so fun. Enjoy it !
Curious to know what exact mineral(s) these are, I find these often in a creek in my back yard. My daughter likes to break them up with a hammer and make small bits of jewelry with them.
They're quartz geodes
if you don’t mind me asking, what area do you live in? I’m from kingsport but just moved to murfreesboro. I’ve been looking around east TN this week and have had very little success, rockhounding in TN seems to be kinda location specific oddly.
@@user-kh9ki3kq8m try cannon county maybe close to Woodbury. That’s close to you. I have heard there are geodes in that area.
@@TennesseeRocks thanks! i’ve been home this week and was surprised to find out that middle TN is better for rockhounding than being in the appalachian’s. I did have luck at warriors path state park though and got some huge rocks filled with quartz!
Where can I look for these
@@jstclme The best way is to reach out to people around your local area and see if you can get some leads. Good luck and have fun!
Are they're any in east Tennessee?
I believe east TN has some really amazing amethyst and other beautiful crystals. See if you can find some experienced rock hounds in east TN. We are located in middle TN. Good luck on your rock hunting!
I haven't been able to find any yet but I'm looking I've been around my house my whole life looking I've always been obsessed with rocks but recently got back into we bought land around 2 min away from where I grew up and we found 2 huge quartz Boulders just laying in the woods they are about 30 pounds each
