There are only 9 players in the NBA and WNBA who have recorded a 50-40-90 season, Delle Donne is the only WBNA player in this group. Not only does she play from the heart, she has a big heart. Kudos to her for following the path that was right for her.
she's a real person, with a huge heart, obviously a rock solid family upbringing and she knows what's important. her sister lizzie is not guaranteed a long life. elena did the right thing. she's such a good person and has such great skills i may watch some WNBA games or at least some chicago sky games. i've forsaken pro and even college ball fandom in recent years because the low quality of the play and people in the sport. this elena gives me hope
As someone who was born with Cerebral Palsy and born and raised in Delaware, this video really touched me. It's a really good feeling to know they're people out there who see us as people, not just a dollar sign, or people to take advantage of.
Im really inspired to hear Elena Delle Donne's story. Basketball is not the only thing, the solo thing that matters to her. She loves other things, people in life and has a balance.
What a beauty and what a remarkable woman. I hope she can find the courage to get over her feelings of home sickness because in the WNBA she is going to be a HUGE star. I love how close she is to her family. This world needs more people like her. She is beauty inside and out. I hope she gets everything that she needs and wants from life.
She could easily be a model, she is so stunning but she is so down to earth and with so much caring in her heart , she turns away from the glamorous life, and just as important, she is one of the best players in the women's game . A top box office attraction.
And look at her now gold medal, WNBA MVP, wow she really was meant to be one of the greatest female basketball players off all times, but like everyone is saying her game could be better only if she accepted to play over seas, but she is still amazing!!
Can not say just how much I love your heart* I am a 'Die hard' Storm fan and had the pleasure of watching you compete... None of that matters anywhere near what you represent to our world! GOD Bless you! ... Love Jay E Van Camp
Wow...she is just inspirational. Amazing courage and demonstration of how strong of a woman she is by sticking with her family and knowing whats best for her.
i was devastated as a uconn fan when i found out she had left us in the beginning of the season. but once all the dust had settled and i'd learned more about her reasons, i couldn't help but be inspired. truly an amazing story about an amazing person. i have nothing but respect for delle donne.
Best of luck to her. Coming from a UConn fan, it's unfortunate that we couldn't see Geno coach this girl into a superstar and a few national championships. It takes quite a person to choose family over every basketball kid's dream of winning national championships with a high profile team. Elena is a special person and I hope that she's is able to have a successful basketball career while staying close with her family.
2 things come to mind. Larry Bird leaving Indiana and an interview i saw yrs ago. Wish i remembered his name and the details. In the interview ( i think he was a running back for USC, maybe not) he was asked about the college draft, he responded by saying he was going to med school, cure cancer and win the Noble Peace Prize.
After seeing this, who in their right mind could possibly find fault with this girl and the decisions she has come to make? What an outstanding human being! God Bless this fine young lady!
What a BEAUTIFUL CARING SISTER!!! Family First! I have always liked Elena Delle Donne! Now I have a better perspective of the loving and caring person, and character she has! This should be made into a movie. She made the right CHOICE! Now today she's so happy and on her way to being a LEGEND of the game! May God continue to bless her!🙏
idk how anybody can call her crazy...she missed her sister so she left behind previous dreams just to be by her side n love her.....shes not crazy shes a unselfish angel
As a fellow basketball player, being in the same conference as Delaware, she has my total respect. It's hard to follow your heart when you have so many others in your ear
Elena Delle Donne is an extraordinary person for that, I hope she continues to have happiness and I wish her the very best as she transitions to the WNBA
Elena has the right stuff. I was moved by her compassion - in particular, her devotion to her sister. Good luck in the NCAA tournament. She knows what is important at an early age: That alone puts her head and shoulders above most people.
Some people just don't get it that people need to do themselves and that's what is important. At least she had the courage to take all the scrutiny and follow her heart. Some people wouldn't have the courage to do what she did. Good for her!
God bless you for going and doing what you feel deep in your heart if that's what you want do you want to be home you want to play for whoever you want to play for that is your prerogative and be damned anybody else and I admire you for that I respect you for that you do what you want to do sweetheart and you keep doing you and be damn about anybody else and God bless you
I'm so happy to see her breakthrough year in the WNBA. Maybe she can shut all the critics up once and for all and end up back on the US women's team where she belongs. She's the best women's basketball player in the world right now and she did it her way taking care of her loved ones without kowtowing to the UConn machine.
I've just been introduced to her skill.........I'm overwhelmed.........saw her wedding video......I'm extremely happy for her.............she is the women's Steph Curry
OUTSTANDING!!! SHE MADE AN ADULT DECISION AND DIDNT PLAY COPY CAT....BLAZE YOUR OWN TRAIL.. ALL THESE GIRLS WANT TO GO TO UCONN, STANFORD AND TENN....GREAT JOB YOUNG LADY GREAT JOB FUTURE OLYMPIAN!
While I'm sure Geno was upset that EDD left Storrs I am sure now knowing her background he is more understanding about WHY she left after 2 days. Elena's family means the world to her and after being so close to them for so long I imagine it was tough being that far from them when she left home and she briefly lost her joy for the game. Her family is why she doesn't play overseas in the offseason like most of the other WNBA players...she could be making very good money if she did but chooses not to. I'm sure she is also glad she is now with the Mystics and be that much closer to home.

God, she's just a genuinely good person. I really enjoyed seeing this. Made me tear up. It was wonderful.
Just repeating myself: class act and an inspiration
Til this day, I still LOVE this story.
As someone who was born with Cerebral Palsy and born and raised in Delaware, this video really touched me. It's a really good feeling to know they're people out there who see us as people, not just a dollar sign, or people to take advantage of.
Robert Lawson Jr. Hope you're dealing with your condition well brother. Much love 👍
Damn it. Now she's turned me her fan for life. What a person. Loyalty at its finest.
She made UD a powerhouse and final 4 contender haha I miss having that kind of exposure here in Delaware
Im really inspired to hear Elena Delle Donne's story. Basketball is not the only thing, the solo thing that matters to her. She loves other things, people in life and has a balance.
Beautiful story about two beautiful sisters. Amazing.
This is highly respectable and should be applauded.

i love you elena keep doing what makes you happy it doesnt matter what other says what matters is you are happy i love you elena
What a wonderful human being…! A true professional athlete who excels on the court, yet maybe even a finer human being.
She could easily be a model, she is so stunning but she is so down to earth and with so much caring in her heart , she turns away from the glamorous life, and just as important, she is one of the best players in the women's game . A top box office attraction.
Very good lady with a solid heart, Thank you Elena for showing family comes first and not money!
And look at her now gold medal, WNBA MVP, wow she really was meant to be one of the greatest female basketball players off all times, but like everyone is saying her game could be better only if she accepted to play over seas, but she is still amazing!!
Now champion also
@@wonderlandian8465 If she goes there, she might end up in prison like Griner.

WOW, WHAT A GREAT STORY! A WOMAN WHO PUT FAMILY FIRST! MAD RESPECT TO ELENA D. CONTINUED SUCCESS YOUNG LADY!🏀👍🏀
Wow...she is just inspirational. Amazing courage and demonstration of how strong of a woman she is by sticking with her family and knowing whats best for her.
watched her play NC yesterday. Amazing player! I hope to be as good as her one day. such a great person too (:

Elena is an Awesome individual, putting family first before herself! 🤙🏽👍❤️❤️
As a fellow basketball player, being in the same conference as Delaware, she has my total respect. It's hard to follow your heart when you have so many others in your ear
Beautiful inside and out.
Fucking amazing its a true heartwarming story I hope she successful in here career.
I think her relationship with her sister outweighs her talent in basketball...truely great person!! #heartofachampion
Such great respect for you after watching this video.
WOW! this just open my eyes to a whole different side of basketball:) you inspire me!!
Playing for Geno is never joyful. Absolutely great decision. Geno gets the results, but one one truly enjoys playing for UConn.
Good for you. You do what is right in your heart. Love your decision god bless you
Amazing girl, all my respect.
Elena Delle Donne is an extraordinary person for that, I hope she continues to have happiness and I wish her the very best as she transitions to the WNBA
She's beautiful.
Very beautiful , strong tall, I’d be with her even tho I’m 4 inches shorter
Elena has the right stuff. I was moved by her compassion - in particular, her devotion to her sister. Good luck in the NCAA tournament. She knows what is important at an early age: That alone puts her head and shoulders above most people.
Elena cells Donne is amazing and such a good person
She's a sweetheart. A real cutie.
One of the only things/person from Delaware we can be proud of.
She's gorgeous
@tony 61 In his defense when this story came out up to like the past couple years nobody actually knew she was
What a well grounded person
What a sweetheart she's adorable.
Some people just don't get it that people need to do themselves and that's what is important. At least she had the courage to take all the scrutiny and follow her heart. Some people wouldn't have the courage to do what she did. Good for her!
Great story!
Reminds me a lot of what happened to Larry Bird in his college playing days.
Priceless!!!!!
She awesome beautiful person
God bless you for going and doing what you feel deep in your heart if that's what you want do you want to be home you want to play for whoever you want to play for that is your prerogative and be damned anybody else and I admire you for that I respect you for that you do what you want to do sweetheart and you keep doing you and be damn about anybody else and God bless you

HUH?
Beautiful.
Her sister says it all. I want to be close to my sister. Mature beyond her years.
Great story of true love
Awesome story I am a 30 year old special need young man
That UCONN story is very similar to Larry Bird’s short stint at Indiana University
Geno, scugnizzo, Elena Is ONe In A MILLION! Gotta love her!! And her family,,x ever,,.
I lived in Wilmington Delaware my entire 18 years of life.... How come i've never heard about this girl..???? Wtf
Elena u are a Beautiful LADY
Great story. Glad to see it was not all about basketball for her
yeah she will be with the Chicago Sky
She will always be loved by us wilmington natives.
She's so beautiful ..
that UCONN coach is such a stand up guy. no wonder the UCONN team is so alpha. great story.

Cheyenne Cook I don't think he took it personal. The auriemas and the delle donnes were friends from way back.
